Description

This impressive period property is on the very doorstep of all that is interesting and exciting about York, you could not be better placed for a perfect city break. The area of Monkgate is a very upmarket residential area very close to York Minster and the city walls. Details of the exact address are available on request. The rooms are, spacious (much larger than they appear in the photographs) and light, and are furnished and equipped to a very high standard. There are two double bedrooms with double beds, a lounge, family bathroom, kitchen diner and a hallway leading to the two mezzanines upstairs (one has the lounge and the other the second bedroom). This beautiful converted Victorian hospital has great character, it is also set back from the road and therefore there is no road or street noise, very quiet. The car park is and gated and free. From the apartment window you have a view of York Minster, we are so close to the main area of the town. I am sure you will not be disappointed with this central location.

There is flexibility with the number of days. Usual changeover days are Fri, Sat or Mon, but again can be flexible if it fits in with other bookings. Estimated time of arrival needed for collection of keys, plus mobile contact number.

Earliest time to occupy the apartment is around 3pm, unless otherwise agreed. Guests arriving after 6pm must use the key safe.

This is a lovely quiet flat on the second (top) floor of a four storey building. It has a view of York minster and the city centre. As you walk through the door you walk into a light and carpeted hallway, to your left is the new bathroom, straight ahead the downstairs bedroom, to your right a doorway to the kitchen and dining area and then the stairs leading in two directions, one to the mezzanine bedroom and the other to the mezzanine lounge. The apartment is very light as it has two long windows about ten foot long which bring light to both floors. The apartment is very cosy and warm and has all that you would need for your stay. I have lived there myself and have made it very comfortable. The second floor of this building is mainly occupied by business people for second homes or retirement. You will have no noise from the street or noisy neighbors.

Eight or nine stairs leading to main entrance.Quiet location, set back from the roadside, no road or street noise, very quiet apartment block. The apartment is on the second floor, (top floor) access by lift or stairs, good views across the city.Please note, as with all lifts there are occasions when the lift is out of service. If you are disabled please consider this when booking.

As the apartment is very central in York there is no need for transport, all amenities in York are accessible by foot. If you wish to travel to the coastal regions you are on the right side of York to access the A64 coastal road which is very close.

“Lovely apartment, wants for nothing.”

We have stayed in County House many times, the location is great, literally a few minutes walk from the city centre. The owner has two apartments, this one no. 45 and no. 49 on the other side of the building, we’ve stayed in both they are warm comfortable and well equipped. We love them.

Response from the owner I am so sorry to hear that an otherwise perfect stay was ruined by a noisy group outside. I believe it was perhaps visitors and not residents involved as this is most unusual. Your experience, although sadly disappointing, is certainly not reflective of others or any other review. Other reviews in the days prior to and after your visit highly recommend this apartment, one of them stating 'the apartment was nice and quiet' (these reviews can be viewed on an alternative site). Please rest assured this is normaly a very peaceful apartment. My apologies once more. Sandra
