Description from the manager
"Light Cahill"
(Every cabin is named after a fly pattern.)
Cabins 57-67 are identical styles. These deluxe "mountain chalets" on the Taylor River offer all the amenities of a cabin in a modern and compact package. They are perfect units for families. The deluxe models on the river are very new with nice furniture and fixtures for a more "upscale" feel. The best feature of these is that you are literally steps away from the river. Just walk off the covered porch and you're on the river bank. Along the river bank is a grassy area with a fire pit and a charcoal grill plus a picnic table. The unit has a private bedroom downs...Read more

My wife and I stayed recently for two nights. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. I was able to get my fishing license, flies, rent waders and get some great fishing advice.
The room was meticulously clean and very comfortable. -

Asked for extra towels and got charged! When I booked two trailers I let the person know there would be four in one and five in the other. Asked for a few extra towels and was treated to a crappy little speech about there being to many people (thanks for wasting my time with that) and they billed me another $44. So be it, in a time of loyalty programs and my family visiting almont twice a year if the almont resort is booked I will stay elsewhere!

Manager
I'm sorry that you felt you had a bad experience here. To set the record straight we do not charge for extra towels - linens are always included in the price for the number of people you've paid for. If you have visited our resort often, then you will know that we have a nightly rate in each cabin based on a certain number of people. Any additional people beyond that base number are charged at $10/person/night. This is actually a very standard practice in the lodging industry and our extra person fee is low compared to many hotels and vacation rentals. In most hotels, a room fee is based on 2 people and additionals pay extra beyond that number. The extra fee does help to cover the additional cost of towels, linens, wear and tear on the lodging unit. We have this policy clearly stated on our web site for each cabin page. I'm sorry that you felt you received a "lecture." That is never the tone we seek to convey. Our reservations staff is trained to apply the policies that we have in place and those should be conveyed in a friendly way. We will use this feedback as a training tool to continue to improve our service. Thanks, Jen Stevens Resort Manager

MissouriSingle wide trailer - pretty tight!
Left on 08/29/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Location was great - right on the river. We came to fish and it was great for that as there is plenty of good water all up and down the Taylor. Pretty tight right up against the other cabins but okay privacy on the side decks of each one was good, but you neighbors can look right out the window at you unless they pull the blinds. Not much room on the inside - the cabin is really a manufactured single wide trailer with log siding and a deck. One recliner chair, fold out couch which we only sat on that was not very comfortable. Dish network TV. Kitchen table is squeezed in pretty tight otherwise you cant get back past the refrigerator to the bathroom / bedroom area. Master bedroom bed takes up most of the room. Deck was the plastic decking and weathered/deteriorating, beds were okay sleeping, no head room in the loft- an adult has to crawl - the stairs are very steep and narrow. Overall more overall like a travel trailer than a cabin. It was clean. No a/C, but in the mountains generally no need at night, but a hot spell could make for warm days if you hung around the property. For the money, would recommend the other larger cabins on the property that might be higher priced but more in line with a bit more roomy cabin experience. No housekeeping service but we saw that as a non-issue. Nice staff and very friendly.

nice location, but very over priced, especially because the "cabin" we rented was actually a trailor, very small!
I loved that it was on the river, but again, way overpriced!Response from Three Rivers Resort - 08/15/2012

Thank you for your comments and I'm glad you enjoyed staying on the river. We do price checking quite frequently and what we have found is that we are actually very competitive, if not on the lower end of pricing for similar lodging types in our area and other Colorado resort towns. There are no other resorts in our area like ours so we price our "park model" cabins similar to other resorts in Colorado that have those. Most resorts price their park model cabins at $200+/night in peak season and in a prime location. We are below that. If you prefer a more traditional "stick built" cabin, we definitely have those too. I would invite you next time to consider all 17 different styles of lodging that we offer. We have everything from rustic studios to upscale on and off the river. I'm sure one of our cabin types would easily fit your budget. Thank you again for your remarks. We will continue to price check and stay competitive each year.

Overland Park, KSEven better than last time!
Left on 10/13/2011 for a stay in September 2011
When I stayed here two years ago, I mentioned that it would be nice to shampoo, skin lotion, etc. in the room. This time when I stayed there, there was! It would still be nice to have coffee service but maybe next time. Everything else was great. Late Check-in, early departure. Cabin was very clean and the property is well maintained.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. We can't guarantee shampoo and amenities every time, though. We are part of a brand program that sends us samples to include in guest rooms. We never know what we will get any particular season but hopefully there will be something useful for your stay!

Baldwin City, KS (near KC Metro area)Nice place but could be improved for the price charged...
Left on 09/29/2011 for a stay in September 2011
The location is great and the facilities are very clean and mostly well-kept. We rented a cabin next to the river. It was very nice but due to the fact there was a loft with stairway access next to/over the bathroom and main bedroom valuable space was lost in the bath and in the bedroom alike. No room for luggage or to dress comfortably and the shower head too low. It would be nice if they had other riverside cabins without the loft for 1 or 2 people. Several light fixtures were missing covers in our unit and the fireplace surround rattled when in use. A dimmer on the living room overhead light would improve the lighting greatly! For the price we would expect these items to be properly maintained and the entire property to be in tip-top shape. We also visited with friends in the George Bailey Vacation house which was very nice but pricey! Overall our stay was very good and we would like to return with family--however, not sure if we can due to the high cost! A discount for longer stays (3 or more nites)would be nice.

Thank you for the feedback. For the unit you stayed in we try to let people know at the time of reservation what it is - a modular unit with a tight fit and low ceiling loft. We also state this on our website descriptions. We do actually have "regular size" cabins on the river as well and they are beautiful new remodels with a private deck and hot tub. As far as pricing, we continually shop our market to find out what lodging prices are and we are competitive, if not a bargain, compared to most places for what you get here (on river, outside space, fire pit, full kitchen, resort amenities, etc.). Each year we review pricing and see where we stand in our market. We also take our customer's comments into account and we mostly hear that we are a bargain and often we hear that we could charge more. The vacation home is a very moderate price compared to most vacation rentals of that size for this area and location. We can't really budge much on that one but we appreciate your perspective. With 18 different unit styles and price points, hopefully we can satisfy all budgets and tastes.

Me and my family had a great time. We have always been treated great. We go every year and this year went twice. Couldn't ask for better service. This trip I left my medication in the cabin (5) and Three Rivers sent it to me in the mail. I never expected that and was very grateful. Service like that will keep me and my family going back every year for as long as we could.

Three Rivers Resort is a great place to call home in the mountains. It is conveniently located near the Taylor Park area and Crested Butte areas. Our cabin on the river was perfect to enjoy coffee on the deck and watch the fish jump in the river. The office, tour and restaurant staff is outstanding in every way!

We stayed in a cabin, # 66 right on the river. Great location for enjoying the deck and sounds and sights of the river. Our daughter really enjoyed the bedroom upstairs, though she learned she also needed to be careful with the low ceiling. Took a little getting used to the smallness of the cabin, but we got there. All the comforts of home, kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping quarters. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only disappointment was the TV didn't work for our daughter. Wife and daughter went rafting through 3 Rivers and had an excellent time, wife was a former rafting guide and was very impressed with Vito's rafting expertise. The resort was also very dog friendly, with our two dogs. Nice having Gunnison close for groceries, etc. Recommend City Market over Safeway, since it is probably 3 times larger for selection. Would recommend 3 Rivers to anyone looking for quiet or activity filled trip.

I would not be staying here again. I was disappointed in the cottage which was more like a motor home without wheels. The cottage was so small! I am only 5"1' and was hitting my head on lights! If you are shorter than I am then you may be ok here, but any taller then you will have trouble. My husband 6" had a hard time. The stairs are straight up and down and very dangerous. Least to say our children had great fun at our expense and thought the cabin was hilarious. Be warned. On the bright side it was very clean and neat. It was right on the river and we did enjoy the hot tub. The restaurant across the street was great.

We stayed in a very nice, new "deluxe" cabin on the edge of the river. Porch, grill, and fire pit were right at water's edge - very pleasant. The staff were as nice as could be in every respect. Corian counters, stainless steel cookware, useful selection of kitchen ware. The cabin is certainly modern, clean, and very nice but is extremely tight and small - it will sleep six or more just fine, though. The cabins are spaced close together so you have to be considerate about noise and privacy. Bring your own grill racks and utensils! - the grill spaces are very wide for most foods and no grill wear is provided. Some older cabins at this resort are very basic, rustic by comparison. We took two raft trips from the resort guides who were absolutely fantastic with everyone including the kids. The "dog" policy was our only issue as the next cabin ten feet away had three dogs off leash and unsupervised and barking all hours and doing other things dogs do at our porch and picnic area... But we didn't turn in them in so we have no right to complain. The restaurant is nice and offers homemade veggie burgers that were great.

Centennial, CONeed to replace the bed
Left on 07/17/2009 for a stay in July 2009
The bed was terrible, it had a valley in the middle and it was unbearable. The last night we moved the beds together in the loft so we could get some sleep.
We would like to return but not if we know the bed was going to be like that again because we were miserable the short period of time we actually spent time in the cabin.
Otherwise, is was beautiful and we plan to make Almont and Crested Butte and annual event.Response from Three Rivers Resort - 07/17/2009

We discovered that the bed frame had been broken so we have replaced both the box spring and the bed frame. Guests are liking the new beds!
