Description from the owner

Charming 1930's single family bungalow guest house with original hardwood floors, original knobs and other fixtures, large backyard, and plenty of parking. We completely remodeled the home in 2011, but maintained its original character and charm. There's a full 2 bedrooms with queen size beds and a foldout sofa couch to sleep a total of 6 people. Complimentary laundry facility is included. The guest home has everything that you would need from dishes, pots and pans, a toaster, stove, refrigerator, table and chairs, towels, and fresh sheets.

It's located in the heart of Hyde Park in central Austin within walking distance to restaurants,...Read more

Hyde Park is one of the most coveted neighborhoods in Austin. You'll be right in the middle of central Austin next to all of the exciting attractions, but also be in one of the quietest locations. The large trees and many historic homes make this a great place to walk, jog, or bike around at any time of the day. Walk a few blocks and you can be having breakfast at Quack's, one of the best locations in Austin for coffee and cupcakes, or eating at any of the several restaurants nearby (ASTI, Mother's Case, Julio's, Hyde Park Bar and Grill), take a walk to the local park and enjoy tennis, basketball, swimming, or playground for the kids, or even to a local museum. Don't want to walk or bike? The bus route is one block away and will take you almost anywhere in the city for $1!

      Charming and cozy!

Left on 02/29/2012 for a stay in December 2011

We stayed here for the weekend and didn't want to come home. The bungalow was very nicely decorated and had so much more than you get at a hotel chain. We were able to take some great walks around the charming neighborhood and view all of the incredible homes constructed around the 1900s. Just steps from shopping and a wonderful coffee shop; this place served as a great way to relax and completely unwind. This neighborhood is so quiet and calm that the birds chirping in the trees took center stage. This is my top choice for lodging in austin and I would highly recommend this to everyone. A+++

      Highly Recommended!

Left on 02/18/2012 for a stay in February 2012

The apartment is immaculate and the neighborhood is wonderful. I loved the local eateries especially Quack's Bakery, which is a short and pretty walk away. If you want to be in austin but be able to escape the honkytonk noise at the end of the day this place is for you. Wake up to birdsong a short cab ride from downtown. Peter was very helpful and responded immediately whenever we had any questions. I highly recommend this place.

      Great Stay in austin

Left on 01/03/2012 for a stay in December 2011

My daughter, uncle and I stayed at this vacation rental in Hyde Park. We loved it! The place was immaculate and the owner is very accommodating. We felt right at home. My daughter was checking out UT austin, and she fell in love with the school and the neighborhood. The home is located within walking distance of several restaurants, a coffee shop and a neighborhood grocery store. We were in the heart of austin, yet it was so quiet that we could hear the birds chirping in the morning! The neighbors are very friendly and Pete lives right down the street so he is always available if needed. We didn't have any problems, though! Everything was perfect.
