Additional Location Information
The North Berkeley Hills Homestay is tucked away in a charming residential neighborhood just below beautiful Tilden Park, a block from wonderful restaurants and shops in Kensington Village, one mile from North Berkeley's best shopping street (Solano Avenue), two miles north of UC Berkeley, and a five-minute drive to the Gourmet Ghetto. We are 30-45 minutes from SF and a little more than an hour from Napa, Muir Woods, and other favorite Bay Area sights.
In Tilden Park, you'll find great hiking trails, the Brazil Building, petting zoo, carousel and steam train. It's an easy walk to two AC transit bus routes (#7 and #67), one that goes directly downtown, the other to UC Berkeley, and street parking is plentiful; there are no time limits and no need to move for street sweeping.
There are more Nobel Prize laureates in this zip code and the one next door than anywhere in the world, so even casual conversations here can be very enlightening!

South DakotaNice homestay.
Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The innkeeper, Terry is friendly and offers helpful travel information. The home is clean and in a nice neighborhood (be prepared to bus, hoof or rent a car, it's up in the hills!) I enjoyed the walk to Bart, the quite retreat and meeting the other guest. Great stay if you are comfortable sharing a kitchen and bath!

Dubai, UAEA warm, comfortable stay in a beautiful neighbourhood
Left on 09/28/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Our stay at Nbhh was wonderful - truly a home away from home! Terry was like family and did all she could to ensure we had a warm and comfortable experience in every way. She is a great resource and her recommendations regarding all our needs were spot on. Her charming home is located in a beautiful neighbourhood, it was quiet and restful but also has convenient access to UC Berkeley and the Bart.We will certainly be back - it was all I expected and more!

Madrid, SpainPleasant stay!
Left on 09/04/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We stayed here for 16 days in august 2012. The asian Suite and the Library were perfect for the four of us. We had very good days, really pleasant while we arranged the stay of my daughter at the University. The host Terry is fantastic and her hospitability great. She helped us with wathever we needed. Thanks Terry!
The home is very comfortable, very nice furnished and situated in a lovely neighbourhood. It is well comunicated by buses to downtown Berkeley and also there is a short walk to Tilden Park, but it´s better having a car; no problem to park it. House rules include taking your shoes off when entering and using non-sence bath products which was fine with us. We felt welcome to share the kitchen and comun areas with Terry. We were glad having chat with her and watching TV toghether.
Hope to go back soon!

VirginiaLovely Homestay
Left on 06/11/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We stayed here for three nights in June, 2012. It is the best value we have seen in Berkeley, after looking at a variety of options and staying in a hotel down near the marina. The home is comfortable and very nicely furnished. We didn't need the chemical-free environment but appreciated both it and the environment-friendly practices. We felt welcome to share the living, dining and kitchen area and the back deck and yard. The host provided us with privacy yet we felt was available and helpful if we needed her.
A car is necessary as it is up in the north Berkeley hills. It is easily walkable to a small commercial area, and not far from the Blake House botanical garden. We would gladly stay here again when visiting the East Bay. -

Santa CruzA safe, healthy oasis in the Bay area
Left on 05/09/2012 for a stay in October 2011
Here I found a beautiful oasis, a home base from where I could venture out and enjoy the very best of the Bay area. Because the house is so healthy and quintessentially Berkeley (in a wonderful, unique way), I could relax and be myself without worry of chemical intrusions. Modern toxins such as most cleaning products, air fresheners, etc. make me ill. It is rare to find a place that is fragrance free and uses natural products throughout. This is the best I've found.
The location is fantastic. Very accessible and the views are beautiful.
Terry is wonderful. She was there if I needed her, but I had all the privacy I like, too.
Thank you Terry for providing this oasis! Blessings to you and all who stay here. -

Gainesville, FLGreat place to rest
Left on 05/09/2012 for a stay in March 2012
What a beautiful, comfortable, serene, and thoughtful place. Terry is amazing, and her space is wonderful. We had a great stay, made better by Terry's resources and fine company. There's probably not a more satisfying and personable bed to be had away from home in the East Bay.

Belo Horizonte -- BrazilA perfect place for a quite and nice stay in Berkeley
Left on 05/08/2012 for a stay in February 2012
I was really happy to stay there and will always remember my stay.
The house is located up the hill in North Berkeley, in a nice and quite neighborhood. There I could use all the facilities including the well equipped kitchen, where I could prepare light meals.
It was a perfect place to rest after my working days at the university and my vacation days in Berkeley and around it.
I am grateful to Terry for receiving my friend Daniel and my parents well, for picking us up at the station, for all the advice, and for taking care of everything we needed for a pleasant stay.
After my lovely stay it was hard to say goodbye.
Hope to go back soon!
