Description from the owner

Bella Vista Cottage is a Fredericksburg Texas bed and breakfast set on 55 acres of beautiful Texas Hill Country. The Cottage was designed and built by the owners with the help of Eric Mustard a local Fredericksburg architect. The 2,000 square foot cottage is meant to be a weekend getaway home to relax and unwind from the hectic stress of city life. The exterior design of Bella Vista contains architectural elements of the local German farm houses found throughout the Texas Hill Country, Victorian style cottages and American Prairie architecture melded into a unique, inviting, and modern approach. Hidden Gem

Left on 01/06/2013 for a stay in January 2013

Bella Vista was an absolute fanatsic place to stay and relax. The house is very inviting and the views were awesome, especially if you watch the sunrise or sunset. We had used the kitchen to cook all our meals and the only theing that wasn't there was the food we about to eat. Except for the kolaches for breakfast, which were in the fridge when we got there, so delicious. I would recommend this cottage to anyone that wants to get a little of the beaten path and enjoy the quiet Texas Hill Country. The owners were great to work with, thier communication was fanatstic and very prompt.

      Peaceful Hill Country experience...

Left on 05/07/2012 for a stay in May 2012

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Bella Vista. The house is new, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. It takes a little while to get to it - country roads and across cattle guards - but you truly get what it would be like to live in the Hill Country. We saw deer and a magnificent storm that blew in on Saturday night. The breakfast consisted of kolaches, muffins, orange juice, coffee and some fruit. We'll keep Bella Vista on a short list of places that we'd like to visit again.

      Home away from home!

Left on 02/28/2012 for a stay in February 2012

We absolutely loved our stay at Bella Vista Cottage. The seclusion of being all by yourself out in the beautiful Texas hill country with the location's proximity to Fredericksburg and everything else the area has to offer was just perfect for us. We had so much more room than a standard hotel or B&B; in town along with all the luxuries we are used to at our own home. We actually looked forward to getting back to the cottage each evening and didn't want to leave when it was time to check out. We highly recommend Bella Vista Cottage and will return for sure. It was a true getaway that felt like our home away from home!

Perfect romantic getaway - home away from home accomodations

Left on 02/05/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Hubby and I were looking for the perfect place to stay for a weekend anniversary getaway to the Hill Country. He found this place first on the internet and we fell in love with all it had to offer, but it was a bit out of price range. It had everything we were looking for but we weren't sure if we wanted to stay somewhere that was 15 miles outside of Fredericksburg. After days of looking through all the other B&B;'s in the area, we knew we should go with our first choice and stay at Bella Vista Cottage. As my husband was booking it, we found out that they run a special of stay 2 nights get the 3rd free during the months of Jan & Feb. Book it!
Now, if you are looking for a place where you can walk downtown and then back to the room to drop off your shopping bags or want to be close to go back to the room for a change of clothes midday, Bella Vista is not the place to stay. It is a good 20 minute drive to downtown Fredericksburg, but still worth it to us. As we followed the directions that the owner gave us, I was a little leary of where we were headed. As we drove up to the house, I still questioned the place a bit (everything ouside is so dry), but when we walked in the front door, I knew we were in the perfect place. The pics you see on the website are what you get in person. The accomodations are beautiful. The owners have great taste!
When we walked in, we were greeted with a complimenatry bottle of wine and chocolates. Breakfast (bakery muffins and pigs in a blanket) and fresh fruit were stocked for our stay. They have everything you need. Everything in this house seems to have been purchsed new. No hand me downs from another home.
The master bed/bathroom has everything you would want for a romantic getaway. There is a large double shower, jacuzzi tub and the bed is extremely comfortable. There is a big screen tv in the master bedroom and living area. They do have movies, to watch but if I came again I'd bring those with me. We saw numerous deer from the back patio windows.
Overall, our stay here was exactly what we were looking for. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to have complete privacy yet be close enough to Fredericksburg to enjoy all it has to offer.

      Home away From Home

Left on 11/06/2011 for a stay in October 2011

This was our second visit to Fredericksburg - had stayed in another B&B; before - but Bella Vista Cottage exceed our expectations in so many ways. What an awesome escape! We had enjoyed the shopping and antiquing the last visit, but were looking forward to something more relaxing. Winding through the backroads on our way to the cottage increased our anticipation of a weekend escape with plenty of R&R.; Most fav moment... sitting on the back porch, enjoying the crisp morning fall air, sipping on a cup of my favorite java, and watching one deer after another appear just beyond the first small hill. Amazing! I didn't want to leave this little piece of heaven. I can't imagine another Hill Country property ever living up to our expectations after this. We're definitely coming back! Jd

      A Texas B&B; for Connoisseurs

Left on 10/10/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Bella Vista Cottage, about 20 minutes west of Fredericksburg, TX, is one of those "perfect gem" B&B; finds you will tell others about and return to again. The cottage seems right out of a Thomas Kincade painting, well off the highway on a secluded private property dotted with twisted mesquite trees, ancient boulders and rolling, Texas Hill Country landscape painted in cactus green and limestone cream and inhabited by free roaming deer, jack rabbits and road runners. Kevin and Joanna Burns have created a romantic, state-of-the-art, cozy private haven akin to what you'd expect to see in Interior Decorator magazine. The gourmet, stainless steel kitchen is decked out for grand productions. The cozy living room with overstuffed leather sofa and recliner plays host to an eclectic collection of Blu-Ray Dvds to be enjoyed on the giant screen TV with surround sound. The walls of windows draped in Roman shades allow for plenty of natural light and privacy alike. The bedroom, with its firm, high-set bed is covered in high-threadcount sheets and lots and lots of pillows for a cozy, comfortable sleep. The master bath features an oversized hot tub and shower for two, clad in granite and stone and surrounded by candles and mood lighting. We sat on the back porch one night soaking up the starry canopy and enjoying the wine Kevin and Joanna left for us. One day, we took a horseback ride at Quiet Hill Ranch in Doss 10 minutes to the north. Another day, we enjoyed a massage at above and Beyond Spa on austin Street in Fredericksburg. We shopped our way around Oktoberfest and had dinner at a different local restaurant every night. The convenience to Fredericksburg, remoteness of the location, serenity of the property and romantic elegance of Bella Vista Cottage made for a memorable anniversary weekend for us. We highly recommend it. We will be back!
