Getting around

When visiting Maui, you will want to rent a car. There are so many different experiences all over the island. Maui is 742 sq miles and would take all day or more to drive around. You will want to venture out some days far, and other days hit one of the 7 beaches about 5 minutes drive from the house.

Interaction with guest

Most times, the owner or representative will meet you at the house for check in, give you the keys, and walk you through a few details about the property such as how to work the tiki torches and the pool and spa. Usually takes about 10 minutes and then your on your way to enjoying an awesome house for the week. If you arrive late at night, the owner will give you an access code so you can make yourself at home.

Response from the owner Hi Readers: This is the same group who just posted two reviews for the same stay. I'm an honest person, and not trying to nickel and dime people. It's very rare I have to deduct any amount from a security deposit. Most of the time I let things go even when there are minor damages/additional cleaning involved. You are the 1st group to complain in 10 years you didn't get 100% of your security deposit back, and the 1st group in 10 years to leave a less than 5 star review. It makes me sad you all would criticize me and my hard working cleaning crew. I've had the same crew for the last 10 years so I know exactly how long it takes them, how hard they work, and what needs to be cleaned. Apparently we have differing thoughts on what condition a house should be left in, and so to avoid confusion, a checkout list is provided in the living room for guests. It was there in plain sight but not followed. I do not ask guests to do a major cleaning, but only to tidy the home before you leave. Again, it's all detailed on the checkout list. And btw, 90% of groups I rent to have multiple kids. To describe it as not kid friendly is inaccurate. I personally built the entire backyard for kids containing a shallow pool, hot tub, ping pong, kids toys, etc etc. Kids love this place!

Response from the owner Hi Readers: Ok you decide. My property has only 5 star reviews dating back to 2010. This was the VERY 1ST group to leave a review less than 5 stars in 10 years. I would not rent to them again because of the condition the house was left in. And FYI...this place is a kid's dream! Many groups that stay have kids. Here is the email I copied and pasted to them after their stay: "The house was not left in good condition and my cleaners charged me extra money. I am just so very thankful we didn’t have a back to back check in that day because we would have never gotten the house back into acceptable shape in time for the next group! My cleaners spent a lot of extra time cleaning and I have attached the invoice I received from my cleaner. There was a bunch of furniture moved around the house, sheets in the studio bedroom were stained, the main and studio couch was stained, there was yogurt smeared all over the house, and excessive dirt/fingerprints on almost every window and door. BBQ was left dirty, kids toys left dirty, trash all overflowed under the sink, etc etc etc. Also There were 3 beach towels missing so I had to go buy 3 new ones so the next guests weren't out 3 towels."

How do damage deposits work?
