Adirondack Star Ridge cottage is located a quick 5 minutes from NY State highway 9N (about 15 minutes off Interstate 87- Adirondack Northway).

We are the next to last drive off a cul-de-sac, the only full time resident on the street--making for a very quiet neighborhood!! If you've come to rest and regroup, this is the place. If you've come for peace and quiet, the cottage is just for you. We welcome you to the cottage, Adirondack Star Ridge.

DIRECTIONS FOR OUR WELCOMED GUESTS:

FROM SOUTH: 87 North on New York Thruway (At one point go through toll both - get ticket)
Continue on 87 N Y Thruway until exit 24 in Albany
At Exit 24 go through toll booth and follow sign to MONTREAL (87 North-The Adirondack Northway)
Merge with traffic ( It's best to get in the lane 2nd from the left and avoid Albany confusion)
You're approximately 2 hours from the house.

Check your gas gauge at or before exit 18--if less than 1/4 tank exit and buy gas.

Continue on 87 Northway. At the base of Exit 30 ramp (mile marker 103.5)--set your trip odometer to 0 at this point
At end of ramp make LEFT onto Route 73 West towards Lake Placid.

In a few miles, Do NOT make right turn onto Route 9 north; stay straight on Rt.73 !

Scenic road-note: lake on left at mile 6.3, cross AuSable River at 8.6, enter Keene Valley at mile 10.2--35 mph!!

mile 12.6: Marcy Airfield, Mile 14.7: enter town of Keene continuing on Route 73 which at that point now merges with Route 9N. (DO NOT TAKE ROUTE 9N SOUTH)

When you come into TOWN OF KEENE there will be a Stewarts Gas on left (mile 15.1 )(good spot for last minute staples, fuel and calling card - closes at 11:00 pm) & (You're not far from turn off for 9N)
Bear RIGHT onto 9N--mile 15.5

Stay on 9N, AuSable River will be on your left.
Mile 19.3: You'll come to the town of UPPER JAY.

To the COTTAGE, continue on 9N, bear Right at mile 21.5 after crossing river(again) and continue on route 9N

Continue on 9N to & thru the TOWN OF JAY--mile 24.8.

At mile 29 make Right on Stickney Bridge-crossing AuSable River.
At mile 30.3 make second Left on GREEN St.
Make First Right mile 30.7 onto Black Mountain Rd.

When heading up Black Mountain Rd (Ln. on some GPS) look for the first drive on the LEFT and the sign "STAR RIDGE". Drive on in, keep your speed up (at least 10mph) as you start a turn and incline. About 100' up the hill make a sharp RIGHT down in front of the 4 bay garage. The COTTAGE is above. Drive past the garage bays and see the sign, COTTAGE PARKING. Pull or back in to this area of packed pine needles. This will place your auto closest to the side deck stairs and up to the cottage entrance. The side deck door is unlocked and the keys are on the D/R table at your check-in time (normal: 3 PM)

We live about 1/4 mile further up the drive. Hike up to enjoy another Adirondack View & Star Ridge Studio. WELCOME TO STAR RIDGE!

Give us a call with your approximate eta or if you need better directions. The best number is always the land line, 518-647-5691. The alternate is the cell, 908-451-5243. Cell service is nominal in the Adirondacks with Verizon being the best. The cottage is equipped with a booster antenna but even that only provides an extra bar or two. You are welcome to make domestic calls on the land line in the kitchen. This is shared with one of our two lines and the ringer is OFF for your peace. Calls can also be placed, of course, through the internet over the wireless signal.

Watch your speed when going through small towns. 35 mph ! Highways have undercover officers working in construction locations and on entrance ramps.

FROM NORTH:

From I-87 Northway, exit # 34 Keeseville. At end of ramp set trip odometer to '0' and make LEFT on Route 9N towards AuSable Forks and Lake Placid.

Proceed 4.5 miles and make FIRST LEFT. Go .2 mile downhill and make sharp bend to right.

Make FIRST LEFT onto bridge, cross AuSable River. Make LEFT then quick RIGHT on to GREEN St. (this is a total of .3 mile from just before bridge).

Proceed 5.5 miles up Green St. The first left within a half a mile is TroutPond Rd. You will be making the Second LEFT onto BLACK MOUNTAIN ROAD, a gravel road.
