Driftwood House is situated in the centre of the village, and was once the first bank of Mevagissey. The impressive Grade II listed property has been lovingly renovated to an exceptional standard to create a comfortable and characterful Cornish cottage. The Old Bank House has accommodation arranged over three floors including six bedrooms, a stylish kitchen with central island and sitting room with an open fire on the first floor. The beautiful dining room has exquisite parquet flooring, panelled walls and a glazed ceiling overlooked by a balcony which leads from the bedrooms on the second floor. The house is just 100 yards from the harbour... and is very close to all the harbour village of Mevagissey has to offer.

Region: Cornwall's visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain's premier holiday destinations.
Town: Mevagissey is the archetypal Cornish fishing village, and is a picturesque place with a harbour full of bobbing boats and meandering cobbled streets. The coast has beautiful walks in both directions, gorgeous sandy beaches, cliffs and secluded coves. There is a superb selection of pubs and restaurants, and a ferry runs daily to Fowey in the summer season. Just up the road you'll find the Lost Gardens of Heligan; the fascinating Tall Ships harbour at Charlestown with its shipwreck museum and fish smokery is seven miles distant, and the incredible tropical biospheres of the famous Eden Project are 11 miles away. The beaches and coastline of the Roseland Peninsula are a short drive down the coast and the shops, restaurants and theatre of the cathedral city of Truro are just half an hour's drive away.

10 days after the Mevagissey flood, we had a fantastic time in this great holiday let. Definately recommended

all ground floor bedrooms were damp (my sons who suffer from ashma had to sleep on the top floor) The showers were really poor pressure and the garden was pretty much unuseable as it was overgrown. The property needs a good clean and a makeover.
Outstanding Holiday Cottage Experience at Driftwood House, Cornw
Left on 02/13/2010 for a stay in November 2009 | pridz
From my initial phone call to Sykes Holiday Cottages, to
enquire about a winter break at Driftwood House in
Mevagissey, to our final day at the cottage, everything went
smoothly. Sykes staff were extremely helpful and friendly
on the phone.
The caretakers of Driftwood House were also very friendly.
We had booked the three storey cottage, which
accommodated 10, for 6 adults and 4 children, and there
was more than enough room for everyone. The owners had
decorated the cottage beautifully and there were some
lovely little touches. There was also a piano, which the
older children enjoyed playing.
The lounge had an open fire and plenty of comfortable
seating. This led on to a well equipped kitchen. The dining
room was a fantastic space too and we all sat in there for a
wonderful fry up on the Sunday morning.
The three double bedrooms downstairs had ensuite
facilities and the upstairs double bedroom and two singles
shared a bathroom on the top floor.
The cottage was just a few minutes walk from the harbour,
which had several lovely pubs and some nice shops.
There was a fabulous Portuguese restaurant just a few
doors away from Driftwood House too.
We visited Charlestown and St Austell while we were there.
We loved the location and the cottage so much that we have
booked to go back again in December 2010!
Fab Christmas House!

We had a fantastic time over the Christmas period and the owners decorated the house beautifully! We are a family of 9 and the size was ideal for us. Mevagissey itself is lovely too - the only slight grumble I would have is that the showers are not as good as they could be...
