Before I spill the beans on how incredible the apt was, let me express how grateful I was of Joe's gregarious personality and efficient business ethics. He made himself 100% available from the moment I emailed him inquiries to the followup emails and phone calls leading up to the minute we stepped foot onto Puerto Rican soil. During our stay, the larger apt was unavailable but we got the smaller version on the 3rd floor which I'd say was even better since we were that much closer to the surf. The apt studio was very clean and thoroughly furnished. The selling point of the apt was its location. You literally are right there on the beach and waking up to the sound and smell of the ocean. Walgreens is about 20 steps away and there are restaurants and bars up and down the street. It's also a great starting point for morning runs. The security of your apt is beyond safe...since you literally have to go through five different sets of keys from the gate to your double doored apt. Also, if you rent a car, rest assured; you have a private parking spot! If this is your first trip or 10th to PR, staying at Joe's oceanfront apt will be your best decision you'll ever make and I'll back that up with a shot of rum! You get the whole package here!

We located Joe Galbraith through Trip advisor. Joe was so helpful in acclimating us to the immediate area with maps, bus line information, and more. It was the perfect vacation spot on Condado Beach with the beach right outside our door. The condo surpassed our expectations for location and comfort. We give it a perfect 10 and can't wait to return in the future.

Meeting Joe was delightful. He is prompt, easy to talk to, kind and informative. I love the studio. I stayed for a week from april 11 to april 18, 2013. I had a refreshing and spectacular ocean view, window to window. The Building is next to the Marriott. The Marriott usually have field days trips that you can booked. Easy walking distance to surrounding areas. The apartment is safe and quiet. I enjoyed having a private gated parking. It is a treat to walk in front of the beach and lay down. I felt at home. Joe became a new friend. I would definetely stay there again!!! Thanks Joe.

I have stayed at Joe's condo 3-C twice in the last two years. There is nowhere I would rather stay in Puerto Rico than Joes 3-C. From the moment I walk in the door I feel I am on the beach. Joe is most gracious. The Marriot right next door has a casino and good food.

Thank you for your review and taking the time to clarify the criteria used for your overall rating classification. I understand and appreciate your explanation and while not receiving a higher 5 or 4 star overall rating, I'd like to point out to prospective guests that I did receive a 4.83 average out of 5 stars in each of your individual detailed ratings for the apartment's (6) catagories with 5 - (5) five star ratings & 1 - (4) four star rating.
I've enclosed comments in your follow up email which best sheds light on whether the apartment being compared to European 5 Star Hotels should actually be rated using the hotel rating classification system:
"I was thinking of the 5 star European Hotel rating and your wonderful apartment while having a SUPER beach location would really rate by hotel standards as two or three star. Four stars are usually Marriott's, Sheridan's, Hyatts etc and five star are Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton etc... I would think by condo standards a four or five star would be fairly new and very "slick" with small bottles of premium shampoo, conditioner and lotion, fancy hallways, 24 hour desk people etc etc. The bed is a definite 6 star.. Again as I stated I do not want to stay any where else in Puerto Rico.. I love the homey beach feeling & the price is right!"
Thanks again for your point of view regarding one of my apartments which I believe is best compared to other apartments in the San Juan area w/ similar views and price ranges. As I tell guests, our best amenity is the location w/ a direct view overlooking Condado Beach and just steps away from the beach. While staying at one of my apartments you'll have a " home away from home" and save the difference you'd pay at 5 or 4 star hotels to use on tours, dining and the beverage of your choice!

Visiting Puerto Rico is not new to us so we knew right away where we wanted to be. 3 years in a row.The Stella Maris Condos is in the heart of the Condado area of San Juan. I have stayed with other owners condos @ Stella and as with all, they go the extra mile to make you comfortable. The best part of every condo in that building? You have the ocean right there!!! Omg! Waking up is such a pleasure listening and watching the waves endlessly roll in. While we were there we saw a double rainbow out on the ocean. Sooo pretty!
You have everything right there everything from the very expensive to the frugal,your choice.The apt. was clean decorated with to the nines.A well equipped kitchen and appliances. We like having coffee every morning so having a machine there was a blessing,why pay 4.50 ea. at starbucks? The Marriott is right next door and we take full advantage of their pools and chaises.I recommend getting a rewards card at Walgreens, it pays to look at their flyer for specials. Rent a car, go see other parts of PR if not enjoy the beautiful beach right there, Joe has beach towels, a cooler and paper plates and so picnic it! Washer and dryers are available if need be. Know that the security in this condo is second to none! I can go on and on but see for yourself...we stayed 2 weeks and had a blast! I have recommended it now to 2 people...I need a commission! The apartment is beautifully decorated and is so comfortable. Joe is the best host and he is such a gentleman. He was there whenever we needed him. The apartment is furnished with many amenities that made it feel like it is just like home. The location is so great. I loved waking up to ocean breezes and seeing the ocean from the sliding glass windows. The view from the apartment is just ocean...so amazing! The location is so great. Condado has alot to offer (restaurants, dancing, etc.) and it is so close to OSJ, etc. I have been to San Juan 6 times, and this is my best stay ever. Thanks so much, Joe! And, I hope that you are available to accomodate us again! Besos!

we stayed at Joe's sweet little condo in san juan for our honeymoon in spet. 2012 and it was perfect for us! Joe is a great guy and we will rent there again for sure! very secure and key accessible only building each step of entering the condo, (so it's great to feel safe in a strange and new place) seconds to being right on the beach, to the wall of windows in the condo that opens for a spectacular beach view with perfect breezes, fun and cool beach decor, and the ease of getting around to sight see in old san juan, it made for the perfect trip! we so can't wait to see more of puerto rico and stay in Joe's condo again!

The unit is in a great location in the center of Condado right on the beach. The building is a bit older but when you walk inside of the unit, everything is very clean, organized and the bathroom appeared renovated. The view is amazing, right out over the beach/ocean. There was a through the wall air conditioning unit that worked great. There was lots of security features for the building, including outer gate, keyed only entry to building and elevator. And lastly, Joe was amazing. He is a very friendly gentleman who takes his time with you. He offers great advice about things to do locally and seems genuinely interested in getting to know you and making your stay better. This was the first time we had ever used this type of online rental service and we were both pleasantly surprised with the outcome. I would definitely recommend this rental from Joe.

The Condo was very clean and cozy. My son and I enjoyed the wonderful view of the beach. The entire building and condo was very secure. We enjoyed the cleanliness and modern amenities. The location is only a short walking distance to most anything you'd like to experience, surrounded by hotels, shopping spots, dining, and fast food establishments. Joe Galbraith was a remarkable host. He met us upon our arrival with the keys, giving us a tour of the facility and showed us where all of the equipment needed for the beach was located. Joe is a spectacular individual. He checked in on us frequently to make sure we were enjoying our stay and if he could provide assistance. He also gave us great insights into tours, affordable transportation and provided city maps making it easy to walk to area attractions. I won't consider staying anywhere else. This is the best place providing nice views of the beach from your balcony and views of the city from the front of the condo. We did not want to leave. Thank you Joe for making our stay a pleasant one.

I have to say, i was a bit aprehensive about looking on the internet. Finding an ocean front condo for the same price as a hotel, and then sending money off to a stranger on an island I've never been to. But Joe's professional, courteous, and kind nature put me at ease. The condo is perfect for one or two people. The location couldn't be better and the security in the building makes you feel protected at all times. Luxury to me is sleeping to the sound of the ocean waves. Waking up when the sky turns to light. And knowing you're one of two people that can access your floor via private elevator key. I hope to come back one day and experience more of this tropical paradise. Thank you Joe, you reaffirmed my faith in humanity.

My boyfriend and I stayed here a couple weeks ago and couldn't have been more pleased. The location was great with it being right on the beach, close to lots of restaurants in Condado, and really easy to get to Old San Juan. We had considered staying in one of the hotels on the beach, but I'm glad we didn't. The beach at the rental property was so much less crowded than the beaches at the hotels and it was fantastic to be able to cook some of our own meals (there's a Supermax nearby that Joe told us how to get to). The rental was so clean and cute... perfect for a couple. Joe was excellent to work with. Next time we find ourselves in San Juan, we'll definitely stay here again!

This location was great and dealing with Joe Galbraith, the owner of the unit, was just a pleasure. The closeness to the beach is unmatched, the view is breathtaking and the proximity to stores and resturants can't be beat. We would highly recommend renting from Joe as he has 2 units.

My partner and I stayed at Joe's Condado studio rental in late January 2012 for a week vacation in Puerto Rico. From the word go, Joe was extremely professional and helpful. Securing the reservation was easy and seamless.
When we arrived, Joe met us at the apartment and gave us an excellent recommendation for lunch. The apartment was very tidy and the view absolutely breathtaking. Important note: this studio has a terrific renovated bathroom that isn't shown in the photos. Big plus but my partner and I.
Two other very important considerations: 1) the building and apartment are extremely safe and secure and 2) there is a Walgreen's less than a block away, which is oh so convenient. We also had a cocktail our first night at the Marriott beach bar next door.
The neighborhood simply could not be better. You're literally on Condado beach and there are countless bars, restaurants (just ask Joe!), and things to do. Old San Juan is a 10 min. drive down the road. Just be mindful that traffic on the main road (the condo bldg is actually on a quiet side street) is hectic Friday-Sunday. No big deal though - the apartment comes with a private and secured parking space that is invaluable in this neighborhood.
We can't wait to come back and were so sad to leave. Our week-long trip to Puerto Rico was one of the best vacations I've ever had. You better believe we'll be staying with Joe again. -

My husband and I stayed here for one week in Nov. 2011 and the place was perfect. Right on the beach with great views. There's plenty to do in the area and lots of great places to eat nearby. It's in a very safe location.
We liked it so much that we stayed again at the end of our 2 week trip to Puerto Rico. Like another reviewer mentioned, having the Marriott right next door is an advantage - we rented a car from there (the apartment has parking which is great).
Joe was great before our arrival in letting us know the status of our reservation and deposit. He was easy to get a hold of and very informative. -

This was our first trip to Puerto Rico. We absolutely loved it. When we go back to Puerto Rico we will stay here again. We couldn't believe the view from the Stella Maris apt 6C window. Joe met us at the condo, he is very nice, he also suggested stuff for us to do and places to eat.
The location was great there are so many places to eat right down the road. The beach was very clean, we walk up and down the main strip everyday trying different things to eat and stopping at different spots on the beach. There are a couple of grocery stores close to the condo and there is a Walgreens right behind the unit for anything you might have forgot.
It is nice to be located next to the Marriott. When we booked tours we would just walk across the street and meet our tour guides right there. The area felt very safe for walking at night and getting something to eat. The condo has fence and a locked gate to keep your privacy.
Thanks Joe for a great time and enjoyable stay. I would recomend this place to anybody. For the price it can't be beat. -

My partner and I have been renting from Joe every time we visit Puerto Rico,for several years now.Why do we keep coming back?First,the location of the rental apt-right by the beach! I like hearing the sound of the waves especialy at night,love waking up in the morning sipping my delightful cup of Puerto Rican coffee on the terrace overlooking the beach.And it is short walking distance from restaurants and stores along ashford ave in Condado.
The apt itself is a very comfortable,decorated tastefully with a maritime theme.It has a brand new FM radio with an ipod dock-which was used a lot! It also has a TV set with cable and the other usual amenities-refrigerator,coffee machine,microwave.
And best of all,Joe is a most pleasant,fun and attentive person who will bend backwards to make his guests have a great and lovely time in Puerto Rico.

This apartment had Beautiful views of the Ocean and is in an excellent location. The owner Joe, was very helpful with any questions we asked him and if we needed anything he was there to help us. The apartment is small but so very efficient!! Our Son just moved to Puerto Rico in December and this was a perfect place to stay because we could walk to visit out son, walk to dinner, to nightlife and even walk to the store. Oceanfront, fully equiped studio condo, centrally located on a beautiful beach. Sliding doors and balcony provided panoramic view with terrific breeze and sound of surf.
Unit was well equiped with linens, kitchen utensils and 2 beach chairs. Very safe location with gated condo. Onsite, and helpful maintenance manager. Owner provided a warm greeting upon arrival and patiently provided information regarding local restaurants, transportation, attractions and necessity stores.
This great find provided for a very enjoyable stay in San Juan. -

My stay was as close as one can get to paradise. The condo was clean, comfortable and on the ocean. Joe the manager was magnificent and very resourceful. The grounds keeper George did an awesome job keeping the place clean and even located a cup of laundry detergent for a load of wash. Thank you for an amazing stay in San Juan, PR.

Have been staying in this apt for 20 yrs now. I love it because it is right on the water. All the windows open so it is like there are no windows with the only a view of the ocean. Newly renovated bathroom is great! Very secure with a gate around with each floor access only with a key. Usually rent a car as there is parking inside the gated area but a car is not needed as everything is within walking distance. Great restaurants and shops in the Condado with a 24 hr Walgreens a block away. Beach is right in front of the apt building; the Marriott is next door so have gotten a beach massage in their massage hut and their casino has lured me in too. Everything about this space is easy and Joe the owner will help you with anything you need.
Highly recommend this gem for the perfect relaxing vacation! -

This was our first trip to Puarto Rico.We could not believe the view from the Condo...Beautiful Blue Ocean with a warm breeze. It was breath taking.We felt like we had airconditioning on the beach it was so relaxing we were on the beach all the time clean and friendly.The condo had everything you would need.A block away to anything you wanted to eat,gamble, entertainment or just walk the streets with many choices of food and shops.We did return the next year and recieved the same friendly service.We are planning our next trip and bringing some friends with us because we could not stop talking about how relaxing and enjoyable our trips are.

excellent location and view. The accommadations were very comfortable. For over 25 years we have been comming to the Island and have found that this is one of the best locations for the money. This was our second stay with Joe, the first 8 years before and the experience was the same both times. Next time we would like to stay for a longer period of time.

I have stayed in this nice studio apartment several times over the years. I usually come down 2 or 3 times a year and prefer to stay on the beach as it's my 1st priority to have a relaxing place to stay while visiting family on the island. This place is in a well maintained condominium building w/ elevator and also has a private parking. It's in a safe area in the heart of the Condado area with close access to freeways while renting a car and traveling outside of the San Juan. I'm always looking forward to coming back!

We have been renting this apartment over the past 10 years from Joe Galbraith. Joe is a good landlord, and we consider him a good friend as well. The apartment is always clean when we arrive. The security at Stella Maris is excellent--we feel very safe there. The rent is extremely reasonable. We consider ourselves way ahead of the game because the rent is extremely reasonable, compared with the $200 to $300 per-night rates that the tourist hotels are charging! We definitely recommend renting one of Joe's apartments.
