Located on a semi-private road the house relatively secluded. This restored California Ranch House offers beautiful views of of a private meadow with surrounded by Forest on two sides and a massive oak tree on the 3rd. To end the day under a blanket of stars you fill find in the middle of the field a outdoor living room built of Santa-Fe slate and the tops of redwood trees. The interior was renovated in 2010 and decorated in in a comfortable California Bungalow style, with a mix of stone, laminate, and carpeted floors, a chef's kitchen and an open floor plan for entertaining groups. The master suite contains its own free-standing gas firepla...ce, deck, and oversized stone shower. Two of other three bedrooms have super comfortable queen beds, with the third contains a pull-out bed and kids corner.

A few steps from the Sunset Trail at the Quail Hollow Ranch Park And Nature Preserve in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Ben Lomond Bungalow marries romance and adventure in grand style. Big Sur and San Francisco and all the all the treasures between are available as day trips from this central location.

*2 decks off living room and bedroom overlook the wildlife parade ongoing in the meadow and the distant Bonny Doon mountains.

*2 TVs one the new HDTV with 220 channels and on demand viewing, the other a small box with cd player.

*2 desks, Wi-Fi, wireless, landline with nationwide calling, iPod dock and radio.

*Solid core doors with bronze trim are found throughout.

*The third bedroom is small with an oversized chair that pulls out to a single bed, a toy chest, lots of children’s books and games.

You will enjoy the spectacular ''cooks'' kitchen with a seven-foot window vista and the brand new upgraded appliances like the range, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and the stone floors with radiant heat. Many of the small appliances normally found in your home here like a crockpot, griddle, blender, and iron.

The home is well appointed with quality furnishings. Living room has comfortable club seating for six plus. The kitchen and master bathroom fully renovated and wonderful.

*2 Sofas under a blanket of stars to enjoy our meadow room with floors made from Santa-Fe flagstone, and a pergola handcrafted from the tops of redwood trees, along with outdoor dining and a fire pit.

Detached garage with workshop space, or room for kids to play adjoins a large dog run. You will find plenty of parking for a motorhome and boat.

We are located near the trailhead leading to Sunset Trail (Quail Hollow Ranch Equestrian Park and Environmental Preserve) where the founders of Sunset Magazine made California living a dream come true. The diversity of Quail Hollow in the 15 habitats that are located in this small, secluded valley range from the aquatic environment of the pond and surrounding riparian ecosystems to the hot, dry chaparral and unique sand hills habitat. Mixed evergreen forests, redwoods, and grasslands round out some of the other habitats.

Loch Lomond Reservoir is up the road a short distance with boat rentals for a day on the lake stocked with bass and trout. Swimming is never better than the creek-side pool at the beautifully renovated Trout Farm Inn nearby.

Ride through Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, down the San Lorenzo River Gorge, across a 1909 steel truss bridge, through an 1875 tunnel to the Santa Cruz Wharf/Beach Boardwalk. The Santa Cruz, Big Trees and Pacific Railway Company operates passenger services on one of the most historic trains in California. Since 1875 the train has transported picnickers to the redwood trees and to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

The best beaches, the world famous Santa Cruz Wharf and Beach Boardwalk, and the fabulous West Cliff Drive for surfers is all found within 10 miles of our bungalow.

The Satellite Telework Center is two miles away for those who cannot leave work behind.

San Jose International Airport, Cupertino, and Sunnyvale are within 35 miles.

Exactly 10 miles to the heart of Santa Cruz or about halfway between San Francisco and Monterey is a fantastic location. We are in the Santa Cruz Mountains above the Northern Section of Monterey Bay. Silicon Valley (Santa Clara Valley) with the cities of San Jose, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Mt. View, and Palo Alto, Los Gatos and Saratoga can all be easily reached. Situated on a shared private road adjacent to Nature Preserve and in close proximity to Redwoods, Beaches, Mountain Wineries, and endless trails to explore and 29 miles of beaches to chose among.

Cowells Beach, Steamer Lane, (Surf), Twin Beach, and Castle Beach, are all near the wharf and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk located on Main Beach (great for kids) .   I booked this rental to provide lodging for out-of-town guests (and myself)for a wedding, and for a base of operations for a flower arranging party. The guests were very pleased, especially with the magnificant tree, deer and quail. The owners were very responsive and communicative, the one small problem quickly attended to.

  Thank you for taking the time to post a review. Quail Hollow Ranch and Highland Park are great places for weddings. We are delighted you chose us as your extended family's base for the wedding. Ben Lomond Bungalow has been the place were babies were conceived, where newborns were first brought home, and where grandparents come to get to know their new family members.   We had a spectacular vacation in this California home. It was the holiday of a lifetime! In particular, the location of the house was perfect for us. It couldn't be beat. We hiked the Henry Cowell State Park (huge redwood trees, river, open air train ride); visited the Monterey Bay aquarium (huge variety of sea life on display); we kayaked in estuaries of Moss Landing and watched the otters, and sea lions while dining at the local fresh Fish Market; visited the Natural Bridges State Park (tide pools, butterflies, beach); and even drove up the coast to San Francisco to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. All of our outings were an easy drive from this charming country home in a beautiful, serene setting: A huge, ancient, spreading Oak tree covered the back yard and a slate covered patio overlooked a meadow which was visited frequently by wild life. The owners were delightful and easy to work with. We can tell they have put a lot of thought, and TLC into this home and we appreciated their attentiveness to our comfort. Everything we could possibly need at our home away from home was provided. The upgraded kitchen was clean, spacious and well equipped. We appreciated the WiFi and Hdtv. The beds were very comfortable; and the entire house was tastefully decorated. We used the house for a month and would have loved to stay longer. We hope to return again soon.

  We are delighted you found so many of the day adventures available from the Ben Lomond Bungalow. Playing hard at all the great things to do along the Central California Coast makes coming home to the peace and beauty of the Quail Hollow Ranch Park in the San Lorenzo Valley even more special. Next time you come visit the new Sage and Lavender Gardens around the out door living area in the meadow will be completed. We are hoping for a hot tub this winter. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
