What Past Guests Are Saying
A peaceful wedding (yes, it's possible!)
On a beautiful spring morning we were married at Living Waters. We booked the entire facility for the weekend to house our out-of-town friends and family. The atmosphere exudes peace and was perfectly aligned with our vision for the weekend. Neither one of us wanted to obsess over the "typical and expected" wedding day/weekend issues (for example, having every decoration look perfect to within an inch of its life). We wanted a neurotic-free zone, and Living Waters totally delivered-starting with Bethany and Travis. They are completely calm souls. Bethany answered all of our questions promptly.
The arrangement of the buildings and grounds allowed for a very private and intimate weekend. We enjoyed the hammocks, native plants and appreciated that it was not an overly-manicured environment-it's an honest, natural setting. Can you tell we despise over-production?
We brought food from our favorite trailers in austin and availed ourselves of the kitchens to store, heat, and serve the food. Everything we needed was there. And throughout the weekend, Bethany and Travis were there if we needed anything.
Best of all, after our friends and family left, we were able to stay and enjoy a slow afternoon with the hummingbirds, butterflies, and leftover wedding cake. Living Waters is a remarkable venue that will be in our hearts forever. Thank you for everything.
Perfect, Perfect, Perfect!
We went to Living Water for our corporate retreat, and what an amazing time it was! Not only is the place stunning, it's so incredibly peaceful. Like you can feel the energy of the place just exudes serenity. You literally cannot be stressed there!
Bethany and Travis, the caretakers of the property, greeted us and orientated us for our time there, showing us everything the property had to offer. Our company hired a private chef that was on property for all our food needs (very reasonably priced I heard!), so Friday after arrival we had a delicious dinner. Our rooms were actually little unique cottages all over the property, so offered total privacy. Complete with fridge, coffee maker, wine glasses (you know, the essentials)! : ) Day two brought morning Yoga led by Bethany at the outdoor yoga studio on property. Then Thai massage by Travis in the indoor treehouse. Some cleansing water, a delicious lunch, and a little time by the gorgeous outdoor fireplace. We went on a little nature walk down the steps that have been carved into the side of the hill in stone and walked down the river and got some fresh air. Back to the house then off to a wine tasting at the Stonehouse Vineyard (about a 5 min. walk from the house). We got back in time for a little dip in the hot tub that overlooks the river and watched the sunset while we sipped on some pre-dinner cocktails. Total heaven! Another amazing dinner and then gathered outside around a big metal fire pit and chatted the night away. The whole place is wired for outdoor sound. Such a nice touch!
Sunday was the worst day, because we had to leave : ( But after a yummy breakfast, we hit the road home, relaxed and refreshed and talking about how soon we could go back.
This was one of the most luxurious and relaxing vacations I've never had, and I've done my fair share of traveling. Great for kids, couples, groups, families, etc. Loved it!
Friends Retreat at the Beautiful Living Waters
We chose Living Waters as the location to hold a "friends retreat" - we invited 10 of our closest friends out to Spicewood to enjoy a relaxing 3-day stay at the property. We were blown away by how awesome the experience was! Bethany and Travis were the best hosts we could have possibly had for this event- they are such pleasant people, and helped with anything we needed! Staying in La Casa de Joy was like living in a fantasy world- waking up to the gorgeous sunrise in such a warm, enchanting house was amazing. We used the giant kitchen to cook community meals for our whole party. During our stay, we took a walk to the vineyard to try the delicious wine, and we also had an invigorating yoga/thai massage session with Bethany. When our stay was up, no one wanted to leave! Living Waters provided us with the opportunity to catch up and reminisce about old times while also helping us create a new experience that we won't soon forget.I would hands down recommend Living Waters to anyone wanting to relax and unwind in a beautiful atmosphere.
Fort Worth, TX
Peaceful and serene
If you need to relax and have peace and quiet, this is the place. Beautiful, spacious house with Southwest decor, big back porch with fireplace to sit with a glass of wine in the evening and watch the sunset over the lake. Deer and squirrels visit, the wind plays a tune in the windchimes, and cares just float away. There is a hot tub and the property manager, Bethany is next door if you need anything. You can get a Thai Massage to complete the visit. We enjoyed the week so much and highly recommend.
Sugar Land, Texas
Very nice place
A One-of-a-kind, must visit at least once in your lifetime getaway retreat.
We had a short but wonderful stay at "Casa de Joy". Thanks Bethany, Travis and Paige.
We went for our son's graduation from UT so we really didn't take advantage of the home as we should have. We plan to go back for some "us" time to take advantage of all the wonderful amenities offered.
The home is a home, with every amenity you would want/need. It was obviously designed and furnitured by an artist into Southwestern adobe, and/or a psychotherapist who has filled the home with many comforting therapy items: pillows, wind chimes, native american carvings, ambient lighting, fountains, Yoga Books, etc... . The style is eclectic... items from different cultures and eras, yet it works and works well.
Although it is a 1 bedroom. It is large and open with high ceilings. The main living area has an impressive stone fireplace that is adjacent to a seating area that is a little more cozy with built-in padded benches. This area has a hide-away TV with Cable TV and videos, perfect for 1 or 2 young children to sleep if you happen to bring any. The bath downstairs has a shower so the kids or visitors don't have to come upstairs to bother you, which is good because there are no doors to speak of upstairs. It is airy and open with a vaulted ceiling, a balcony to the first floor, and a spiral staircase to an observation deck with a telescope and views of the lake and the stars at night, and boy were there stars. This place is not near any light sources down in a river/lake valley, great for us amateur stargazers.
There is a lovely canopy bed that you will not discover has a sleep number mattress and a flat screen TV hiding in the canopy linens, until it comes time to go to sleep. The 2 sided fireplace faces the bedroom and the tub "grotto".
The home is a relatively new and well constructed adobe style with double pane windows, stone floors and rustic, but at the same time, modern features. It is a very good combination of the 2 worlds. Im not a big fan of adobe but this is done well. The garden very well laid out and well maintained, although the drought has taken a toll on the lake and the waterfall (yes they have a large waterfall down to the lake). Hopefully, they can get it working again soon but I think it will take a hurricane or 2 from mother nature to bring the water level back closer to the house.
The rustic/modern kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would need including no less than 4 or 5 wine bottle openers, plates, flatware, pots and pans, glasses and a stocked pantry with spices and condiments. There is even an herb garden between the garage and the house that they encourage you to use for cooking. The bathrooms were also fully stocked with shampoos, soaps, robes, etc, in case you forgot yours.
For me (the techie guy) this was important:
There is "working" WiFi on both levels that works outside if you choose to sit in 1 of 4 seating areas and surf the net. There are fire pits, a grill, plenty of chairs and lounges outside and in. There is a PC with a printer in the study area upstairs if you need to print out a boarding pass.
Make sure if you are going to cook, or need anything, to stop at the HEB grocery store before you get there. Its about 15 miles away and the last 5 miles is a slow twisting road down to the lake with plenty of deer and other wildlife to dodge at night. We got there the first night at about midnight. I do not recommend this. It was hard to see, dangerous and we missed the vista views of the famous Texas Hill Country coming in, but we got to see them when we left.
Bethany and Travis are the lovely caretakers of the home and do a good job. I believe they are both yoga instructors...a very comfortable and earthy couple.
Travis even offered to drive me and my daughter around on the 4 wheeler so we could go down to the lake. There is a boathouse with jet ski's too!!
This is a lovely rustic looking retreat/vacation cottage/home that happens to have every modern convenience, so either way, whether you are looking for a meditation retreat to escape the world, a cozy and quiet 2nd honeymoon spot, or a vacation home away from home for some family get-together, you won't be out of your comfort zone. There are very few vacation homes on the earth that come close to this one. This is a place celebrities come to stay.
Pros: Far from everything
Cons: Far from everything
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!
We will be back!

WOW! What an incredibly amazing and thorough review! Maybe you should do our web site content ~ this is FABULOUS! Our hearts are filled with gratitude. We loved meeting your entire family and are so happy you could celebrate your son's graduation on our property. We completely agree that you'll need to visit again when you have absolutely nothing to do so you can spend some romantic time together, relax at the property, get massage, walk to winery, etc. We wish you all a joyous & peaceful Holiday and we're excited to see you again!
My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the casa de joy and i was amazing!! Very well maintanaced, every thing from the outside to the inside was clean. We were greeted by a romantic fire place entering the home. It has a fully equipped kitchen with all the pots, pans, and cooking utensils you'll need. the bedroom is so romantic, there's a fireplace next to the bed and on the other side is a garden tub that i would advise everyone to take advantage of. there's also a privite hot tub outside right next to the porch. I would and will recommend this place to anyone looking to getaway and relax. The manager Bethany is very accomadating, she made sure we had everything we needed from propaine(for grill),to fire wood(for outside fireplace), to clean towels. I couldn't have dreamed of a better place to spend my honeymoon.

MrHoustons review of La Casa de Joy at the Living Waters on Lake
First of all, the home La Casa de Joy at the Living Waters on Lake Travis is a beautiful luxury home and you will not be disappointed. The wife and I decided to stay there for a three day get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Even the backwoods and winding roads to get there was a lot of fun. A stay there is worth every penny, I would definitely recommend it. Best way to describe it is to give you the pros and cons.
Pros: Very beautiful, nice view of lake, plenty of fireplaces inside and out (if it is cold enough outside), nice fishing cabin on the lake, kept clean and everything inside and outside is very well taken care of, the care takers are very nice, a lot of nice details like a TV right on the bed, all day and night there are deer in the back and front yard (My suggestion is to get up early and watch all the deer drinking from the lake when the sun comes up while you're sitting on one of the lower seating areas).
Cons: There are about 40 light switches in the house but only about 20 work or are labeled as to what they are for. You will be confused on what lights up what and where, most windows do not have window covers, the care takers stay in the house next door and can see inside the house night and day so no privacy, even for the high price they still want a huge cleaning fee (I did see that other people that rent houses on Lake Travis also charge a huge cleaning fee but I still don't think it Is right), would be nice to have basic condiments, there are a lot of rules like you have to have it as clean as when you got there or they charge you extra (which again makes me wonder about the huge cleaning fee)
All in all it is a nice place and I would stay there again. Know that it is not a place to watch the sun go down but watch the sun come up as the back of the house faces east.

We are so happy to hear you had a wonderful weekend in our home! And thank you for the sweet, personal thank you email as well ~ we love that you felt relaxed and pampered from receiving The Romance Package too (breakfast, couples yoga, thai massage, & wine tasting). That is so neat that you spent your mornings watching the deer drink from the lake ~ we will be recommending that for all of our future guests! What a great tip.
Yes, we agree that there are many light switches which is why we added labels to help guests. And there are definitely a few "mystery ones" too ~ I always wonder if the neighbor's lights are turning on & off instead :) Luckily the home brings in so much natural light that you don't even need lights during the day! And as for the cost of the cleaning fee, it is comparable to all other rentals in the area. Our maid does an amazing job and has a cleaning list over 2 pages long that includes everything from laundry to mopping floors to detailing bathrooms to sweeping the ashes from the fireplace.
You are able to see both the sunset and sunrise from the home. The back of the home does face west and there are so many tiered levels to the property that you can actually watch it set 4 times in one night! And you are able to experience a beautiful viewing of the sunrise from the master bedroom and 3rd floor viewing tower.
Privacy of our guests is extremely important to us so thank you so much for the feedback about the window that faces our home ~ you are the first to voice that concern so we will definitely be adding curtains. We really appreciate your help in making our property even more special and we're excited for your next trip in the summer!
magical wedding at Living Waters
Our wedding held at Living Waters was nothing short of magical. As soon as we stepped through the front gate, we knew we found the venue we'd been looking for. There is a sacred, peaceful, harmonious energy here, along with stunning natural grounds and buildings with unique architecture that is at turns modern, funky and homey (not the typical Laura ashley, kitschy, Texas B&B; that predominates in the area).
We wanted a site that would allow for a day-long wedding and reception, as we wanted to spend more than 2 minutes with each of our mostly out-of-state guests. Our preference was to have a place on the water with room for 100 people, but still feel intimate. We desired a space that would accommodate our wedding party for the weekend so we'd have time to connect instead of running around from place to place. We were looking to get married under a canopy of wise old trees. We wanted to choose our own vendors. And we wanted to work with kind, communicative, honest, warm folks. And we didn't want to have to harvest our organs to pay for it.
Bethany and Travis Webb could not have been more accommodating. Their love of Living Waters and experience hosting their own wedding on site was invaluable. They recommended local vendors, gave us tips on how to lay out the space and the day. They let us tour the site multiple times for our do-it-yourself planning purposes. Travis toiled to update the pavilion, helped us erect a wedding arch and ensured the grounds looked fantastic. And Bethany saved our behinds by agreeing to coordinate our wedding day at the 11th hour after we were forced to let our coordinator go, and did so with incredible grace, dedication and good humor.
We had the wedding of our dreams. A wedding we believe truly reflected us and our union. We cannot recommend Living Waters more highly and are pleased to call the Webbs our friends.

An amazing Retreat!
What an amazing weekend my husband and I had at Living Waters On Lake Travis. We stayed in La Casa De Joy and it was breathtaking to say the least.
It was so clean and the decorations were inspiring. It was my first time to try a Tai massage and I liked it so much that I not only had one but two Tai massages by Travis. He was very professional and his massage was very detailed. I took Bethany's Yoga class and I am impressed with her gentle spirit and calming nature. I had never taken a yoga class before so I was concerned since there were other people in my class. This was not an issue Bethany made me feel so comfortable and at ease. Both Travis and Bethany made our weekend memorable. They are so kind and friendly we will definitely be coming back!
Great romantic get away!!
This is a great place to go for a romantic weekend! Stayed at the Casa de Joy, and the pictures do not do it justice! The views are great and the hot tub and outdoor fireplace are awesome especially at sun set. Have to go to "Tomato Happy Hour"...(ask Bethany!)
I would like to state that the photos do not give the property justice! La Casa DE Joy was an awesome vacation. Me and my wife were planning on a vacation to get away for a few days from the hustle and bustle of Houston... and a newborn. We arrived and found an environment of peace. The house is a lot larger than I thought it would be. It is a one bedroom but a large one bedroom. For the price the house is definitely worth the stay. We looked at several houses around Lake Travis and I can say that I was so happy we decided on this house. Bethany helped me and my wife in every way and accommodated us any time we need information. I can not give a high enough rating for the customer service and housing...One negative was the the lake was low, but honestly it did not take away from our stay. I can honestly say that this was one of our best vacations we have taken. Thanks for your helpfulness and your genuine attitude Bethany. You definitely went above and beyond to take away any stress from our trip.
