Whether you seek a quiet weekend or a base to headquarter from while exploring the sand hills- this is the place to hang your hat while in north central Nebraska. Located on a 5000 acre working ranch -there is plenty to do from dawn till dusk. No matter if you spend your day hiking, wildlife viewing or enjoying the many area attractions; you’ll want to be back in time to take in the fabulous sunsets that spread across the western sky. This place might a little off the beaten path, but that was part of the beauty. Rest assured you wont have any visitors bothering you. The serenity and peacefulness of the Sandhills surrounds you and the sunsets are incredible. I've watched the sun go down from spots along the pacific coast many times and Killdeer Nook has em all beat. If you want secluded place to use as home base for a Niobrara, or Sandhills adventure I cannot think of a better place. Its like a hotel suite in the middle of nowhere.
Thank you to the Brawner's for creating an amazing little getaway spot. My only complaint is that it's taken me this long to find it. I will be back for certain. I'm second guessing posting this because I don't want too many people to know about it! -

I really enjoyed my stay and the Brawner family are gracious hosts. The cabin is a great retreat for someone who wants to get away and enjoy the simple quiet beauty of the Sandhills.

The Brawners run a top shelf operation. From the cabin to the ranch to the town of Wood Lake. Hardest working people I have ever met who still take time to chat, explain the ranch, whatever. The ranch was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. However if you want "touristy" this isn't it. Just lots of wildlife and wide open spaces.
