“Relaxing” My wife and I stayed at Turtle Beach and found it to be more than we expected. The value was perfect for our budget. All the comforts of home were there.Paul and his staff kept the rooms and resort very clean. We were met at the airport and then taken for groceries before going to our rental.Turtle Beach is located half way between West End and West Bay,(about a 10 minute walk ethier way)just enough to keep you away from the hussle and bussle of the two areas.Yet if you wanted to go to ethier it was close. As far as the service went whatever our needs were were met.The entire staff made sure of that.

“A'Mazing L'Alize” From the minute we decided to book L'Alize until we boarded the plane to leave Roatan we were given top notch service. Our pre-trip planning was a breeze and we had tons of help from the owner and manager. Upon arrival we were met at the airport and taken to the local grocery store to stock up on supplies. From the store it was about a 20-minute ride to L'Alize. Thankfully the house came with a van because the walk out to the road is steep!. We were given a tour of the house by Tish (the manager) and introduced to Olga, Edie, and their family (our caretakers, cooks, and concierge). The house is as described, perhaps even better, and pictures can not show how truly amazing it is. From the second you walk through the door you are preoccupied with the incredible view out every window. We spent a great deal of time on the decks but there were nights we had to eat inside because the breeze could be a bit much. However, waking up in the morning in the master suite is unbelievable! The breeze rolls through the room, the sound of the ocean is in the distance (along with a rooster), and you can lay in bed and watch the sunrise as cruise ships pass by. The kitchen is very well stocked and it was easy to cook for our large group (12 total). There are stairs everywhere at L'Alize and you must conquer a fair amount of them to get to the beaches. Both beaches are decent and Edie attempts to keep them clean but a fair deal of trash can wash in each night. The surf was a bit much for snorkeling for most our group but it was possible. The main beach in front of the house is next to the caretaker's house but the second beach (a 10 minute walk) is quite secluded. You are between West Bay and West End and both are easy to reach (we spent the majority of our time between the two). South Shore Zipline is a very short ride from the house (You will pass it daily). We ended up spending $140 for gas but we were constantly on the move. You will not be sorry if you stay

“Tropical paradise with modern amenities” This was our second stay here and we had another amazing time. The views are beautiful and the small private beach is a mini oasis. The condo has all of the modern features to keep you comfortable and the best modern feature is the complex has a backup generator. This is a key feature on an island where power outtages are frequent. It's a life saver!

About West Bay

A picture-postcard beach which repeatedly features amongst the finest in the world, West Bay in the Caribbean proves a mecca for beach lovers, divers and snorkelers. The surrounding waters and nearby islands host some of the most spectacular coral reefs in the world, much of which is protected.

You could be there in an instant—just book your vacation rental on FlipKey today and start your beach escape.

About West Bay

A small village and beach resort on the long, thin island of Roatan (which sits 30 miles north of Honduras), upmarket West Bay is extremely popular with tourists. There are two main reasons for that—first, the beach and second, the area's safety record. Tourists can walk around freely without worrying about attacks, even at night.

West Bay Beach is around 5km of white, powder-like, clean sand framed by crystal clear water and a living coral reef just 50 feet from shore. There are no rocks on the beach and the water has a bottom of green grass, giving it a beautiful turquoise tinge.

The best snorkeling and diving on the entire island is at Tabyana Beach to the north of West Bay Beach. Various adrenaline-filled water activities are on offer, while numerous restaurants and bars line the beach to help quench thirst and ease hunger.

What to do in West Bay

If you don't want to sit on the beach then rent a jet ski, parasail or sail boat and get out into the ocean.

Consider taking a day trip to Cayos Cachinos—a group of two small islands surrounded by the world's second largest coral reef, the Mesoamerican Reef. It’s been a Marine Protectorate area since 1994.

A guided "Zip n Dip" tour involves a high-octane swing through the trees then relaxation time on the beach.

Take the glass bottomed boat, The Coral Explorer, off West Bay Beach to get a close-up view of the reef, sea grass and tropical life, without getting a single hair wet.

If you're there in May, don't miss the annual international freediving competition. The best free divers in the world compete for the esteemed Caribbean Cup and it's quite a sight.

And be sure to try the island delicacy of roast iguana. It’s described as tasting like a combination of chicken and fish.

Top travel tips for West Bay

West Bay Beach can get crowded at times—particularly when the big cruise ships arrive—so it’s best to get there early in the morning to secure a good spot with an umbrella.

Honduras is still a developing country so internet and mobile phone access may not be as good as it is back home. Be prepared not to rely on it!

Remember to take your anti-malarial tablets as there are mosquitos carrying the disease on the island and it’s not unknown for tourists to develop it.

The temperature in West Bay average around 26 C year-round. May is the hottest month and November the wettest.

A veritable Caribbean paradise with natural first-class diving and snorkeling facilities, West Beach is the place to come to 'get away from it all' in beautiful surroundings and without any hassle. The islanders are polite and extremely friendly to tourists, so you’re sure of a warm welcome when you arrive.

L'Alizé: Private, Spacious Beachfront, in West Bay- kayaks, pingpong, pool/beach
Everything I expected and more!

The house is exactly as the pictures you see, a great place for a family or a group of friends. The coordinator, Tish, welcomed us, walked us thru the house and was helpful in activities we wanted to do. The family who cooked for us (also cleaned the house) was an absolute joy. Very affordable and very, very good! The views are wonderful, the private cove is a treasure for kayaker's and snorkeling. Don't forget the deet and if you rent a vehicle other than the owners, be sure it has horsepower!see more

TURTLE BEACH - Private Treehouse/Honeymoon Suite- 1 Bedroom Villa, Full Kitchen
Great place to stay in Roatan !!!

What else can I say; great people, great location, great beach & reef, great accommodations at a great price and I even had great weather. My wife and I have visited Roatan often and this is our first choice on the island. From this location you can easily catch a water taxi and go anywhere you want to shop, dive, eat any meal or, just stay in and relax and cook your own. When we are there they make us feel like family. I really like the freedom this place offers and I think Paul and Tommy are on the right track at Turtle Beach. Enjoy !!! Dewey & Debsee more
TURTLE BEACH RESORT - 2 BEDROOM FANTASTIC VILLA -Palapa Deck/Screened Porch
Great place away from the noise and cruise ship people!

A couple of points about Roatan first. January and February are still the rainy season! Also, when you are warned about bugs, believe everything you see/hear! My husband seemed to attract whatever was out - mosquitoes, no-seeums, sand flies. Not everyone was affected but if you were, it was nasty. There are a number of stairs as access to the beach and some units do have more stairs. There are different sized cabins built down a hillside. They are a bit rustic but have all of the amenities needed. If you need anything. just let Paul or Tommy know. Because of the size of the place, you get to meet other people and can spend as much time or as little time visiting. There is a huge BBQ available to use and if anyone goes fishing, Tommy will do a fish fry for everyone. The resort is a work in progress as they hope to add a couple more cabins and do some up-dates to a couple of existing ones. The story of how they got started is worth a few drinks under the palapa!! The beach is wonderful! And the snorkeling out in front of the place is some of the best on the island. It is possible to walk to West End and West Bay or water taxis for $3 per person. A regular taxi is about $10. (Negotiate the price on the return trip before you get in as the price sometimes seems to change!) The resort is about 1/2 way between West Bay and West End so it is quiet and very laid back. Paul and Tommy are very accommodating and will go out of their way to ensure you have a great holiday. There are some groceries and fresh fruits and veggies in West End but not much in West Bay. If you are looking for party central or wanting to be where the action is, this probably is not the place for you. If you want laid back, beautiful beach and the opportunity to meet like-minded people, I would highly recommend checking out the Turtle Beach Resort.see more
TURTLE BEACH RESORT-Ocean, Pool & Beach Front, 2 bdrm/2 bth Gorgeous Mayan Villa
A relaxing week on the beach

Although there is a lot to do in and around Turtle Beach we were able to get a good deal of relaxing in too. We stayed at the Mayan villa and found it charmingly rustic yet well appointed. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well provisioned for cooking in. The view from the living and the deck (with pool) is stunning. We snorkeled each day right off the beach (head east 50 yards and it is some of the best snorkeling I've seen). We kayaked and paddle boarded. Being between West End and West Bay gave us convenient access to restaurants, bars and shopping but we still felt like we were on our own remote island. Paul and Tommy did a fantastic job making us feel right at home and getting us whatever we needed (be it paddleboard recommendations or extra yogurt when I ran out)! They are really laid back and you can find yourself lost in conversation as they tell stories of how they came to Roatan and what they have done since their arrival.see more
Roatan Luxury Oceanview Condo in West Bay
Awesome!

Our first time in Roatan. On the drive from the airport you are thinking - Hmmm, this will be interesting. Then you arrive at the compound and it's getting exciting .. Then you walk into the condo and it's awesome! Everything you need and I'm not saying basic stuff, but all the comfort. Beds, furniture, amenities .. Everything is top notch. Wifi is key. Balcony has a view of both sides of the island if you need to check out the windy side for scuba. This maybe something silly to mention, but believe me it's important - they have a generator and the power on the island goes out about 2-3 time per week and it's awesome to keep the music and dominos game going. The location is called keyhole because of the tiny little bay where the ocean breaks through the rocks. Within the community, you can swim in the super clean infinity pool with showers and night lighting, or go into the keyhole bay, protected from ocean waves and your own private little slice of sandy beach haven. You can night snorkel in the bay and see bunch of stuff (with a proper flashlight of course.) Make a right out of the complex and first left up the hill, next left and across the bridge to the ocean. 15 min walk, 5 min drive. Several bars, restaurants, dive center, beaches, monkey lalas (gotta try that drink) and salva vida beer. We've traveled a lot and this is definitely in the top five spots. We really didn't want to leave.see more
