Description

For the best stress buster holiday choose Stanmore Holiday Flat situated in the village of Southend Argyll, 12 miles south of Campbeltown in the beautiful peninsula of Kintyre. The upper flat is over 200 years old and is traditionally decorated and very homely. The first floor comprises of the living room/dinning area, kitchen and a double and single bedroom as well as the bathroom with shower. In the attic rooms there are another double bedroom and sitting room ideal for reading. Under the bathroom there is the utility room with washing machine/dryer. The flat has its own garden area with patio sitting and drying green. If you wish to hear the sound of silence then you will made the right choice of holiday. There is no telephone in the flat although there is a public callbox just 5 minute walk away. You will also not have any mobile or internet signal until you are in the 'big' town of Campbeltown, a twenty minute drive away. So is you can't play candy crush, can't get in touch with your boss what is there to do. Well chill out, walk next door to the welcome of home cooking and friendly faces at Muneroy Tearoom. Take a 10 minute walk along to the local golf course and have a round of golf at Dunaverty Golf Club or continue your walk to one of two lovely and uncrowded beaches. Look across the water to Sanda Island or Ireland which is just 12 miles away. Watch the wildlife including numerous birds, otters, seals and depending on the season Dolphins and wales. Soak in the history of the area, take a walk up to St Columba's footsteps or turn back and have a drink in the Argyll Arms just 5 minutes from the flat itself. By car, well there are too many places to mention to visit, but try Campbeltown with the many restaurants, swimming pool, oldest cinema in Scotland, go sightseeing on the number of boat tours, visit nearby islands - just too much to mention. So if it is a break you want in order to get away from the daily stresses of life but be able to do as little or as much as possible this is for you.

“A little bit of heaven”

Lovely cosy flat in the beautiful quiet village of Southend at the tip of the kintyre peninsula. brilliantly equipped and perfect for a few days of rest and relaxation between Christmas and new year. Could not fault the hosts for there communication before and during our stay. A fab welcome package including gifts for our kids were lovely to arrive too. Place was spotless and had everything we needed Minutes from the beach, golf course, playpark and local store. Would certainly hope to return

“A hidden gem!”

We had a brilliant time at Stanmore Cottage. We enjoyed the big garden and the proximity to the sea. It is only a short walk to the amazing sandy beaches perfect for families. We saw seals and an otter on the shore. And watched dolphins in the sea. Staying at Stanmore Cottage is like staying in a family home with its fully equipped kitchen, lots of books and games to occupy the children and even buckets and spades and other useful things for the beach. You can see the sea from living room and the view on the other side is green fields with cows and sheep. It is very quiet and tranquil (or it was until we arrived…). The shop and cafe next door are amazing. There is a great playpark and football pitch round the corner. Easy parking is just along the road. It is not far from Campbeltown. We recommend taking the Ardrossan - Campbeltown crossing if available. Brian and Agnes, thank you again for a very warm welcome!
