Casa Alta, Spacious 2 bedroom house with private balcony

Culebra house

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 6

“Amazing find!” Our stay was absolutely wonderful. This little house on stilts has so much charm and warmth that it really felt like home. We had a BBQ on the patio to make wonderful meals, a large backyard to watch the fascinating wildlife from iguanas to chickens to all sorts of different birds, and hammocks for the lazy mornings. The house was full equipped with everything we needed to cook as well as stocked with towels and fresh linen. The air conditioned rooms help a lot to sleep soundly and also block out the noise of the excited morning roosters. The location is a little off the beaten path but easy to find and travel to the beaches by bike, golf cart or jeep. Town is about a 20 min walk and the nearest grocery about 10 min away. This little house is a real gem and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Casa Ella - 2 bedroom

Culebra villa

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Great Villa, Fantastic View” My wife and I, and another couple, thought the stay at Casa Ella was fantastic. Maria, the property manager, greeted us at the Ferry dock when we arrived. She gave us a tour of the town, in her car, and then off to the grocery store to purchase some groceries. She then showed us around the villa, answered all our questions and made us promise to call if we needed anything. The kitchen was well supplied with some food staples and all sorts of utensils. The villa was clean and well maintained. The off street parking for the rental car was a plus. The view and location was fantastic. Close to the downtown area and beaches. The patio provided awesome views of the bay and the electric grill was great for evening meals. The washer and dryer was a real benefit as we could have gotten away with a lot less clothing. The outdoor shower was great for rinsing off snorkeling gear and the beach sand before entering the villa. The villa also had four beach chairs, a cooler and beach towels available. Maria and Glen also provided transportation to the dock when we left for home. They are very wonderful people that made the whole adventure special.

“Most amazing 4 day get away” My boyfriend and I stayed at Terri's Casita La Perlita and had an absolutely amazing time. We stayed in Casita 2 which is one of Terri's 2 casitas on the property of land. The casita is located near the museo. Although the casita is not "downtown" per say it actually makes her place a beautiful get away spot. It is quiet, homey, cozy, and has a view of the water. My boyfriend and I rented bikes (Terri had suggested a scooter or car but there were none available b/c of the last minute timing on our part) and we were able to get to pretty much every beach on the island. I would suggest others to rent a car or scooter b/c it seems to be easier to get around this way since the island is very hilly. Terri is also very accommodating and always was accessible by phone in case you need her during your stay. The casita itself was perfect and better then the pictures! A gorgeous porch area where we sat out in the morning and at nights, a kitchen with a good cooking area, a large refrigerator, a new bathroom w/ shower and toilet, and space to put clothes. I would highly suggest renting from Teresa and coming to Culebra to stay at her place! Culebra is a beautiful island and Terri's place offers the peace/relaxation that is perfect for a wonderful vacation!

Ocean views and privacy--Casa Estrella awaits!!

Isla de Vieques house

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Best experience yet!” This was our second trip to Vieques. On our first trip, we loved the island, we didn't love our rental house. Details were overlooked (dripping coffeemaker, no can opener) and everything was worn out. Definitely not the case with Casa Estrella - this house has truly been a labor of love and no detail has been overlooked. We loved staying here. The house is exactly what you need in a beach house, the roof deck was fantastic and the location was great. We have found our base for our annual trek to Vieques. (We have two young kids - 4 and 7- and the house was great for them too.) Highly recommended!!!

“Great Villa in a beautiful tranquil location!!” We just got back from a week in Vieques. We loved this villa for its tranquil setting and excellent interior/exterior living spaces! The views are spectacular and the house has every amenity you may want or need! The breezes will keep you very comfortable and the bugs away, which is great! I would also like to add that the beds are very comfortable, which I find as a frequent traveler is rare in a rental home for some reason. Both the owner and property manager are excellent to work with and extremely responsive. There was even a bottle of wine waiting for us in the fridge! The location is a quick 5-10 minute drive down to the beaches some excellent restaurants. I have been to Vieques several times now in the last few years and this by far is the best place we have rented.

Esperanza Charm at its Best!!!

Esperanza house

2 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Awesome!!!” The house was set up with not only a beachy vacation type house, but also rings with hominess!! My family was comfortable in a matter of minutes and that is not easy with teenagers and little ones alike. The size was also very good for the 5 of us and we each had our own space especially with the back patio, which was my favorite space. Just like a tropical garden in the resort, but we had it all to ourselves and cooked a couple of amazing dinners outside with some local fish and grocery finds. Definitely check out the fresh fruit stand and the fish market. Listen to Michelle--she is a wealth of information, you just have to keep up with her pace or write a lot down on paper.

Cima Del Mundo-Del Sol Suite. New Pool,Fab Views!

Isla de Vieques apartment

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Best Decision Ever” My husband and I had never been to Vieques and did TONS of research on it. We struggled with whether we should stay at a hotel, what town to be in, etc. I stumbled onto Cima Del Mundo on TripAdvisor and it was such a blessing. The property is wonderful. It has everything you need to enjoy the island. We even rented the small SUV that is available with the rental. Also, the place has a fabulous security system. More than anything though, Deborah and Dennis are just awesome. Very nice, very responsive, and full of tips and suggestions of how best to enjoy the island. It is NOT an island with beach chairs for rent, cabanas, or waiters who will bring you pina coladas. If you need a full-service/beach-waiter experience, stick to mainland Puerto Rico. Instead, you'll find beaches that have beautiful sand and water and are deserted except for you. That was paradise for us. Go to Vieques, stay at Cima del Mundo, load up your car with beach chairs and a cooler of beer, and hit every beach you can. You won't regret it.

Villa Tres Palmas, Walk to Beach, OceanView

Isla de Vieques house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 4

“Everything we hoped it would be...” This first floor two bedroom apartment was great and just what we'd hoped it would be for two parents and a teen. It is in great shape and truly felt like a home and not a rental unit. In a safe neighborhood 0.8 miles from Isabelle 2, it is a quick drive or easy walk into town. Isabelle 2 is far more preferable to Esparanza in my mind as it is the main town where there are restaurants, a bank, shops and markets and of course the local people who we found to be warm and helpful. The unit has access to a wonderful private patio/garden beside a patch of banana tress and is surrounded by a privacy wall which allows glimpses of the ocean beyond. We enjoyed sitting there after exploring the island or a day at the beach. Being on a bit of a hill in the Bravo de Boston area allows for great sun and pleasant breezes which we reveled in. There was a place for our rented jeep as well. So of course everyone has concerns about the roosters crowing day and night as did we. Not many want to have roosters directly outside the window. Happily this location did not have "proximate" roosters. Yes, you can hear them, but they are at a distance and I must say we liked having the sounds of distant crowing as part of the Vieques experience. The unit has aC, but it was definitely not needed at this time of the year. The ceiling fans were perfect for our needs. Keeping the screen doors closed will keep out evening/early morning mosquitos which are another part of Vieques life. We were really happy to have the use of portable beach chairs and a beach umbrella provided by the Owner. A nice touch I thought. The owner was very pleasant and provided us with great tips on getting from PR to Vieques. She also gave us great information about the island once we arrived regarding the ins and outs of island life and was able to drop us off at the car rental place when we arrived, and at the ferry when we reluctantly started our return trip. We plan on returning and staying again!

CASITA ROSITA Large 2 bdrm in ESPERANZA--close to everything

Isla de Vieques house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Fabulous home away from home!” We really enjoyed staying at Casita Rosita! The house is decorated in an artistic and comfortable way that was very warm and welcoming. They had everything we needed for the beach: a cooler, towels, beach chairs, an umbrella, stuff for snorkeling. There are ceiling fans in every room of the house and the air conditioning keeps the whole house cool. We could easily walk to the main center of Esperanza, where there are restaurants and bars overlooking the water. There is a small market and bakery just down the street from the house, which was great for grabbing snacks and drinks on the way to the beach. I found it really easy to contact Rosie, the owner of the house and she was very nice to work with. I've already recommended the house to other friends from San Diego who love to visit Vieques and I would definitely stay here again!

Cima Del Mundo-Del Mar Suite. New Pool, Fab Views!

Isla de Vieques apartment

3 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 6

“A Wonderful Place to Stay with Helpful and Appreciative Owners.” Cima was our first VRBO stay and it could not have been more pleasant. From the initial conversation to the follow up after the visit, the communication with Deborah was prompt, informative and friendly. Anything we wanted to know about Vieques was quickly answered with a thorough explanation and recommendations, before we even left. There is only so much you can learn through websites. To be able to speak with somebody who lives there is quite another thing. One of the first recommendations Deborah made to us is to fly to the island rather than take the ferry. The plane ride was simply perfect, a short ten minute trip with picturesque views of the island. When we arrived at the Island, Deborah's husband, Dennis, picked us up in his Jeep and gave us a nice tour of the island's landmarks. Then we drove up to the house and we were blown away. First off, the house is situated on a hilltop, which gives it incredible views towards the west, which means the sun sets right in front of you, into the blue Caribbean water. Deborah was waiting for us upon our arrival and gave us an immediate tour of the property. The wonderful thing about this property is that the structure of it gives all three units the ability to enjoy the views without even realizing you are all there together. It felt like the whole place was ours. When Deborah opened the door, we realized what people meant when they said the pictures don't do it justice. For some reason, the camera just doesn't pick up the property well enough. The place is immaculate. Everything looked brand new. The decoration was modern and comfortable and the layout was designed intuitively. The kitchen had everything we needed with plenty of room to store the things we bought. The bathroom was pristine and organized and the bedrooms were spacious and accommodating. The bed in the room closest to the patio was the one we used and it was very comfortable. But of course, the best thing about this place is the patio, which overlooks the island and the Caribbean in the background. We ate all our meals out there because it was just something you don't get to experience that often. The view from the pool is just as great. We would hang out there with Tucker, their dog, and just relax after long days of running around. Also, they have a nice grill right outside the door which we used several times after buying fresh food from town. This could not have been a better experience and we highly recommend it.

About Culebra

Just off the east coast of Puerto Rico lies Culebra – the perfect vacation destination for those wanting to get away from everything and relax.

Escape to one of FlipKey's vacation rentals in Culebra, and enjoy being far away from the stresses of the real world.

About Culebra, Puerto Rico

The sleepy island of Culebra doesn't have much to it – and that's part of its charm.

here's no traffic, no late night parties and no rowdy neighbors. It's a place you come to for solitude and a chance to step away from the manic pace of modern life.

What it does have is gorgeous stretches of diamond-dust beaches. Here you can relax and soak up the sun for days at a time, just listening to the waves crash gently on the shoreline. Take a dip in the clear blue waters to cool off, then start all over again.

What to do in Culebra, Puerto Rico

The main thing to do on Culebra? Visit the beaches.

Flamenco Beach is one of the top five beaches in the world. It's soft white sand and clear waters make it the perfect spot to set up camp. In our opinion the other beaches are just as good, so if you want to get away from the busier barrios, maybe head there.

While you can embrace the laid-back lifestyle of the island, there are plenty of activities you can try during your stay.

Go diving through the stunning Caribbean coral reefs. Whether you choose to snorkel or scuba, it's a great opportunity to see an underwater world.

If you are a fan of museums, stop at Museo El Polvorin. It’s full of interesting exhibits about the island's history, and a perfect place to cool off during the hotter hours.

Charter a boat to Culebrita – a nearby island. You'll hike to the ruins of a historic lighthouse and enjoy the views. We say aim for sunset—it's absolutely stunning from up there.

Top travel tips for Culebra

To get to Culebra, you can either take a short flight from Puerto Rico, or jump on a ferry and enjoy the ride across from Fajardo.

Not many visitors want to stray far from their beachfront apartments, but if you do fancy exploring the island, grab a taxi, rent a jeep (or golf cart!) to get the most out of your trip.

The clear calm waters are great for kayaking, so why not try that during your stay? It's also the best way to get around the island’s shores. You can discover your own private bay and be undisturbed for hours on end.

For a tranquil and relaxing vacation, there's no better place than Culebra. Untouched by corporations and the tourist industry, this naturally beautiful destination should be next on your list.

Use FlipKey to find your perfect rental in Culebra, and start packing those bags. Don't forget the sunscreen!

Casa Ella - 2 bedroom
A great and safe rental!

Casa Ella was a perfect rental for us (two couples). Maria greeted us at the airport, took us to Jerry's jeep rental and then on to a grocery store (think gas station food shopping) before taking us to our rental. I felt confident that she was available if we needed any help during our stay. The condo was clean and nice and comfortable. There were beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, blender (margaritas!) hair dryer and even left over toiletries and some food staples from previous guests to use. Expect noise from the town, especially as you sleep, since you will have the windows open as there is no air conditioning (plenty of fans though). Dogs barking, roosters crowing, music playing. Also we had lots of mosquitos. Culebra is wonderful but don't come here if you want to be pampered. Do come if you are adventurous and want great beaches, warm water and great snorkeling. I over packed! All you need is swim wear, cover up, shorts, t-shirt and maybe a casual skirt or nice shorts to wear at night if you go out to eat (yum!). Very casual everywhere. We felt safe in our condo and on island.see more
Culebra Villa Mar Sun Sand & Sea KING BED
Beautiful comfy apartment

Cookie and Enrique are the best hosts ever, you can tell they take pride in providing excellent service and make you feel at home. The room was spotless and equipt with everything you need from a hammock, beach chairs, cooler, etc. The king size bed was surprisingly comfortable. There is a food truck at walking distance where you can get breakfast and lunch just in case you don't want to spend time cooking. The kitchen is fully equipt and the view from the balcony is spectacular. This place is highly recommended.see more
Casa Ella - 1 Bedroom Villa
Fantastic house, chill little Island, Amazing Vacation Every Time!

We've stayed at both the upstairs and downstairs of Casa Ella many times since 2007, and we always LOVE the house, and LOVE the island! Clean and charming, and has everything you need to make an easy, chill vacation. We've learned over the years to pack very little, because the house has a washer/dryer (although we just hang our clothes on the line like the locals), and we cook many meals AND make many delish frozen cocktails there ... the patio is the perfect place to enjoy the breeze and drinks. Outdoor shower and hose make it really easy to rinse scuba and snorkeling gear. And, we always feel safe and comfortable. Bonus - the house has cable and WIFI. We like to handle our work emails morning and evening (on the patio!!) and this makes it SOO easy! Location is perfect, very central on the tiny island, but makes it really easy to strike out and hit any number of beaches. A great litte veggie market has surfaced over the last few years, and between it and a few of the groceries on the islance, you have everything you need. Some really great restaurants on the island too. Always love our time at Casa Ella and always love Culebra!see more

Definitively our family dreamed vacations

We planned our vacation a year in advance. We contacted Alex via e-mail and the response time with him was excellent. He answered all our questions by e-mail, text or phone calls. He always was accessible. For most of the group was our first time in Culebra. We were a family group of 15 people, adults, youth and children. We find the location of the property excellent with no noise and great to rest. The property is very comfortable, spacious, with a rustic touch, very welcoming and is in good condition. It is fully equipped. The sheets and towels were clean and fragrant. Kitchen equipment and utensils in good condition (although the oven requires an upgrade). The outdoor kitchen is great. One night we made a BBQ dinner outdoor and the table arrangements, lighting, music, the view, and the moon made our gathering and dinner a special one. Definitively a memorable family night! We had problems with internet access and Alex resolved the issue on the same day. The only thing we did not like is that rooms are very dark and the lighting in the room is too dim (tenuous). Another thing to improve is that needs to renew the twin mattresses. All of us are very delighted with the beauty and peaceful of Villa Pelicano and are already planning when to return to the paradise of Culebra and stay at Villa Pelicano. Thanks Alex.see more
