“Great communication with owner and awesome condo with beautiful” Mercedes was very helpful with the booking and process to rent the condo. We stayed for one week with another couple. Plenty of room and updated kitchen. Balcony was great. We sat out there in the morning and evening and watched the boats go by. Location is right next to some great local restaurants and across from a marina where you can take a snorkeling day trip. Less than 10 minutes to the beach. We would highly recommend renting this unit.

“Fantastic!!!” Alex,thank you so much for renting us your beautiful apartment and for making the rental process so much easier and the service you provided. It was perfect! We all had a great time. The apartment had every comfort we could have hoped for and absolutely everything we needed. It was very well kept. The location of the apartment was good and the 3 swimming pools and its facilities were exceptional. I liked everything about it. The fact of the controls at the gates are very reassuring. I did not appreciate the attitude of the female guard towards some other guests (not within our party)where instead of directing herself verbally to him, she basically blew her whistle in his ear and pointed to him with gestures what he was doing wrong. It was the only negative thing I can mention. Once again..it was a fantastic stay and would rent the same apartment again!

About Fajardo, Puerto Rico

Founded in 1772, Fajardo sits on the north eastern edge of the island of Puerto Rico, around a one hour drive from the island's capital San Juan.

The city is a mix of modern upmarket yachting marinas, plush restaurants and luxury hotel complexes, together with the ongoing remnants of an industrial heritage. Today, the island continues to produce cigars and furniture as well as metal and electronic components.

What to do in Fajardo

Book a day trip to the La Cordillera Islands and dive amongst the stunning coral reefs there.

Hire a car for a half hour's drive to the lush, hilly rainforest known as El Yunque National Forest. Excellent for trekking through, it also has some incredibly beautiful waterfalls.

Book a tour around the magical bioluminescent bay in Fajardo, which involves paddling through mangrove forests very late at night and seeing the luminous organisms glow in the water—it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Visit the 316-acre Las Cabezas de San Juan where you can trek through mangroves, dry forest and beach or dive amongst coral reefs. You can also spot various endangered species and go for a tour of a 19th-century Neoclassical working lighthouse.

Enjoy water sports? Then get yourself to Seven Seas Beach where you can water ski, snorkel, scuba dive and even sail. When you’ve tired yourself out, you can lie back on the sugar white sands.

Try some local Puerto Rican delicacies such as fried corn sticks, lobster in green plantains and rice soup—they're delicious!

Top travel tips for Fajardo

If planning to visit the lighthouse at Las Cabezas de San Juan, you'll have to reserve a place beforehand.

There are no buses to Fajardo from San Juan, so to get here the best solution is to hire a car. Alternatively, you could try and share a taxi with a fellow passenger from San Juan Airport (which should come to around $75).

A ferry off the island should be booked well in advance, otherwise there's no guarantee you'll actually get on. Go to book in person though, since the staff at the terminal are so busy they rarely have time to answer the phone.

Fajardo offers two sides—for a laid-back beach vacation, there are beautiful sands and clear, warm waters. For the avid adventurer who wants an insight into tropical wildlife, flora and fauna, there are the rainforests and national parks. Or maybe you're up for a little of both? Very nice owner

The condo is very nice, the view is to die for the pictures doesn't do it justice. We walked in after a long trip and went directly to the balcony, the view was amazing. It was entertaining to watch the different boats go by. The condo is very nice and easily accommodated six of us, loved the king size bed. We stayed in and cooked several times. Even when we stayed in we weren't bored. The washer and dryer is a plus. The pools are amazing, especially the infinity pool. There is a restaurant right across the street which has live music on the weekend, and food vendors along the street on the weekends. We absolutely loved our stay in this condo. There is a million dollar view from the windows of two of the bedrooms also. Mercedes is very nice and truly made us feel like part of the family. Great condo, beautiful view, great location, love every bit of my vacation.

This is the first time we looked outside of San Juan the tourist area, so I was very skeptical about any other location. Instead of looking for a regular hotel, I wanted to have a place that felt like home. I wanted full kitchen and a place that could accommodate my large family and not be to crammed in a small area. I surf the web, where I came upon Flipkey and loved the condos and vacation homes I seen on this website. I instantly saw this location in Fajardo, Pr, a 3 bedroom 2 bath room condo located in Pena Mar Ocean club. From the first day I booked the condo, Alex the owner help me with every step. When we arrived in Fajardo, we were greeted by the key holder Anthony, who was great, he gave us the tour of the condo and recommended areas to eat and to visit during our stay. The condo it self was more then I could imagine, extremely CLEAN and beautiful terrace right off the water front. Every morning my mother in law and father in law would sit out there from sunset to sun down so very peaceful. It has a full size kitchen, fully stocked with plates and silverware, washer and dryer, towels and even beach chairs and toys to use, The bedrooms was big enough accommodate me, my husband, 3 sons ages ranging from (6-17) and my in-laws and we were VERY comfortable, 2 bathrooms. The condo had 3 pools, 1 with a slide, talk about fantastic my kid loved it, they did not want to go any where else. There were great restaurants right on the beach front couple miles down, you diffidently need a car to site see. I would definitely would recommend this place to any one who is looking for a spacious, clean, great condo in a beautiful location.
