“Relaxing stay in the French countryside.” I would highly recommend Castelwood to anyone who enjoys the French countryside. The cabins are spotless, and comfortable, and the proprietors could not be nicer. The cabins are simple, but with added amenities such as a dishwasher, showers with great water pressure, and even heat for the occasional cold night. Maaike and Ian are extremely knowledgeable about the area, and can certainly suggest the best places to visit and things to do. And there is plenty to do. This is a great area of France for those who love history, many splendid castles, the one in Biron is a pleasant amble down a lovely country road. Then there are the lovely ancient walled villages, the village markets. and the vineyards to visit. The roads are quiet and easy to drive. The scenery is splendid. Not to forget the delights of French food. Since the cabins have well equipped kitchens, eating in or out at one of the superb local restaurants are equal options. Castelwood is not far from the airport in Bergerac, so it is also in a location that is quite easy to access. Castelwood was for us, a simple, relaxing rural experience with a warm and friendly feeling.
