New Luxury Condo~Steps to Ocean~Panoramic View

Nanaimo hotel apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“fabulous, relaxing, seafront luxury family accomodation” After a 2 week road trip from Las Vegas, this apartment was a luxury oasis for my family with two teenage daughters to spend six days before returning to the UK. It's immaculate and tastefully furnished and decorated with everything to make you feel at home. The location with its surrounding sea view is at once relaxing and breathtaking. The shared pool that is directly under the balcony is long enough to swim properly in, or, alternatively, to lounge around with a good book. Thoroughly recomended.

Art Sea Cottage

Nanaimo b&b

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“It was an amazing place for our vocation, and I would love to come back if I had a chance!” Both of my brother and I were very happy and enjoyed the cottage very much! We were so happy to see Pauline to pick us up from the ferry terminal building. When we arrived at the cottage and we both were surprised how cozy and lovely cottage was in front of us. I just loved every piece painting in the cottage. We felt very comfortable having this cottage during our vocation. Most beautiful thing was this neighborhood, it was just so close to the beach. You could enjoy the sunrise and sunset every day. At night, you could saw beautiful stars by simply looking up. We loved how peaceful and friendly neighborhood. It was so fascinating watching the Milky Way and different shapes of stars as well. We regretted staying only two nights since we enjoyed the stay very much. There were so much fun staying in Pauline's lovely cottage. We definitely recommend this cottage to all of you! Btw, Pauline's breakfasts were soooo good! It was so sweet of her hospitality!

NEW BEACHFRONT CONDO - ULTIMATE UNOBSTRUCTED VIEWS

Nanaimo apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Right on the Water - Summer 2012” We were four adults with two grown children staying for four nights. The condo had everything we needed for a long weekend. The kids sleep in the front room on the huge leather furniture and sleeper bed. The windows allowed for great water and shore views. The location was perfect being far enough from the surrounding towns which were fun to drive into for a restaurant meal or groceries. Patricia meet us and made us feel at home right away with a glass of wine and a plate of cheese and fruit. From the games, cd's, and the binoculars Patricia thought of everything. We all loved sitting on the large porch in the comfortable chairs and throws. A few night some of us fall asleep listening to the tides coming in and going out. On the last evening we had the great luck to watch a family of Orca's swim up the large body of water in front of the condo. We would differently come back in the future.

Air-con 3 BR view suite for 6, w/ 50" 4K Smart TV

Nanaimo house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Exceptionally accomodating” Having not traveled away from family with our 8 month old infant, we were unsure what to expect. Peter and Irene went out of their way to ensure that everything was perfect. The clean and well-windowed rental space was just what we were looking for and a mere 10 minute walk to the hospital or beach, with the destination dependent on whether it was myself or my wife doing the walking! Peter and Irene even went above and beyond, finding age-appropriate toys for our child prior to our arrival. I'd suggest they released the deer and whales for us to see as well, but I think that may be beyond even Peter's capabilities. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone interested in staying in Nanaimo. Easy access to amenities and close to the harbour in a safe neighbourhood, it's all we could have asked for.

“Excellent place to go with friends” We all felt lucky to live there. In this homelike cottage, there are big kitchen, comfortable living room and beautiful yard with garden swing chair. The host also provided apple pie as gift. We had a wonderful BBQ outside and their dog, Cleo is very friendly and cute! The river is just beside the house and is so quiet and peaceful. We love it a lot and will try to live there again next summer!

About Nanaimo

Known as the “Harbor City”, Nanaimo is home to the main ferry terminal linking Vancouver Island to the mainland. With a boldly revitalized commercial district and a delightful waterfront, it’s worth spending a day or two here before venturing off into the wilds. For Nanaimo accommodation to suit all budgets, FlipKey has got you covered.

About Nanaimo

Found on the south-central east coast of Vancouver Island, Nanaimo is the second-largest city on Vancouver Island, after Victoria.

Built around a secluded harbor, this area has seen many upgrades since the 1990s, including a museum full of informative and interactive exhibits that tell the city’s history. Check it out!

Named after the native Snuneymuxw First Nation tribe, Nanaimo was first discovered by Spanish explorer Juan Carrasco in 1791. By the mid-half of the 19th century, the Hudson Bay Company established coal mines in the area. Coal remained the region’s main export until lumberjacking took over in the 1960s.

Today, Nanaimo is focused on the tourism industry, and has built a state of the art cruise terminal where cruise ships from Seattle stop off on their way to Alaska.

Ferry passengers arriving from Vancouver are also encouraged to spend time exploring Nanaimo before setting off on their Vancouver Island adventures.

What to do

Sitting comfortably between the Strait of Georgia and the forested peaks of Vancouver Island, Nanaimo offers the urban pleasures of a city with the recreational opportunities of the great outdoors.

In other words, visitors have the best of both worlds to select from. Start your day in Nanaimo with a walking tour of the city, combining the smart downtown shopping with the picturesque Harborfront Walkway.

While on the water, why not try fishing? There are plenty of charter operators who offer full and half-day salmon fishing trips. Rainbow trout fishing is available not far from downtown at Diver Lake and with it being a stocked facility you are almost certain to catch a fish.

Another fun activity for the entire family is crabbing from the main fishing pier in the harbor.

Golfers have 19 courses within a one hour drive of Nanaimo, while nature lovers can go bird watching at Buttertubs Marsh, or hike up Mount Benson.

Top Nanaimo travel tips

The best time to visit Nanaimo is during the dry summer months and, while the climate around Nanaimo is temperate, you can expect plenty of rain throughout the rest of the year.

When arriving at the ferry terminal, be sure to pick up a free guide to Nanaimo and the surrounding area. It’s full of helpful hints and maps to make your visit to Nanaimo the best it can be.

If visiting Vancouver Island for the fishing, the most productive months for salmon are during the spring and fall migrations.

With so much to see and do within a two-hour drive of Nanaimo, it’s not just the gateway to Vancouver Island, but an exciting destination in its own right. Consider making Nanaimo your base for a Vancouver Island vacation by renting one of the many properties available on FlipKey.

Wonderful stay

It was an excellent stay for us. We all had a good time there. The outdoor pool is a blast. If I were to be picky, I noticed that there are some small things can be done to make the experience even better. The middle draw handle is loose, it makes it hard to open. The lid to the big pot is missing, we are a family of 6, it actually is the most usefuly kitchen item for us, without the lid, we are forced to use the small ones. But overall, we all enjoyed our stay, thanks Tammy for sharing your beautiful home. We'll be back again.see more

Best. Rental. Ever.

If you’re considering a stay anywhere on Vancouver Island, then you have found your home away from home in this amazing vacation rental. It’s not to often you find a rental property with the level of detail, proximity to everything you might need for a short (or long) stay, and owners who are responsive and attentive, that, in total, makes this rental experience one of the best you can expect… anywhere. Whether you’re cooking at home in the fully stocked kitchen, relaxing around the house with water views from every window, taking a nap on either one of the uber comfortable beds, grilling up some lunch on the front patio, or just reading a book underneath the perfect reading lamp with the fireplace on, the owners have thought of every detail you might want or need during your stay. Even if you’re thinking about going crabbing, one of the must-be-done things to do while you’re in Nanaimo (especially since the pier is just a quick 2 minute walk from the home), you’ll find the crab traps and all the equipment you need to (hopefully) catch yourself some dinner. Location doesn't get more central than this. It’s an easy walk to the grocery store, restaurants, downtown Nanaimo, park, coffee shops, farmers markets (over summer), crabbing pier, and don’t forget the ice cream shops. And since the harbor is right out your door, you can also walk to the many ferries that take you to some of the other smaller islands in the area. And having Harbour Air Seaplanes just a stone’s throw away means you can quickly, easily, and conveniently visit Vancouver, Tofino, Whistler, and many other must-see places in British Columbia, all from simply walking out your door and jumping onto a plane. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this vacation rental, and will definitely be back. We’ve never met friendlier, more responsive, or more attentive owners than Harry and Tammy, and are sure that if you choose to stay here, you can expect nothing less than an amazing stay.see more

A Fantastic B&B experience!

This was an absolute perfect place to stay during our visit to Nanaimo and surrounding areas! It was quiet, charming and so welcoming, it truly felt like we were at home! The room was gorgeous, had great atmosphere and was very charming and spacious. It was very private, a personal lane in the back, directly in front of the entrance to our room. The bathroom and kitchen were well equipped as was the main room. Pauline was an amazing hostess and she was very friendly and highly welcoming, and she highly accommodating with anything we needed. The breakfasts were simply fantastic, they were so tasty and delicious. Overall our first experience at a B&B was an amazing one, and I cannot wait for the next visit!see more

Great Location

We went to Nanaimo for a scuba dive trip. We rented the lower unit with 2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms. We had 4 adults. The place was roomy and comfortable for all of us. The walkout and covered deck along with the extended driveway really made moving scuba equipment around much easier. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating allowing us to use the area to spread out the gear, use their hose to rinse and dry our equipment. The house is beautiful and very close to the ferry, to the marina and all amenities. We will recommend to our scuba diver friends.see more

Location

We loved our stay in the studio apartment/flat. The location was great. We were able to walk almost everywhere during our month-long stay, grocery stores, cafe's, bakery, seafood store, liquor & wine stores, water front pub...even downtown, all within easy and pleasant walking distances, even despite the wet November weather. Cathy and Brent were great hosts. We arrived late from the last ferry crossing and were pleasantly greeted when we finally arrived. The flat was clean and inviting and fully furnished and stocked with pots, pans, linens, towels, coffee maker...everything we needed. We cooked most of our diners at home but there are a lot of dining and eating out opportunities, including fine-dining for those who prefer. Fair warning, the flat may be a tad on the small side for some, but no different from what we've became used to after traveling for a month in Italy this past summersee more
