The house is within walking distance of a small ancient village and only a couple of minutes in the car to a larger village with all facilities. The house is situated all on one level and has a well equipped open-plan living / kitchen / diner.

The kitchen boasts a washing machine, dishwasher, oven and hob, fridge / freezer and microwave.

In the living area there is a CD player and DVD player. WIFI

There are also two bedrooms - one double and one twin and a bathroom with tub and separate shower cubicle.

Outside there is a good size garden and at the back of the house, a covered eating area, leading up to decked pool of 10M x 5M, with views of the mountains beyond. BBQ. Parking.

This is a good opportunity to have a holiday with toal privacy, yet at a reasonable price!!

A little about location:

This house is situated a 15 minute walk (less on the way back, since the area is hilly!) from an ancient village which has a bar and shop, and a 20 min walk (much more on way back!) or less than 5 minute drive from the larger village of Piazza al Serchio with all facilities.Facilities include, traditional shops; supermarket; small Tuesday morning market when village really comes alive; river; station for easy exploring; bars and some restaurants. In the depths of the countryside, high in the valley the house is a 1 hr 15 minute drive north of Lucca. The market town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana is a 20 minute or so drive; Barga is 40 minutes..... The real beauty of this area is the dramatic mountain scenery, and the hundreds of hilltop villages to explore......

TOURIST TAX - Do note that there is a local stay tax applicable at €1 per person per night, up to a maximum of 5 nights. This does not apply to children under 14.

“Piece and quiet”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2015

We really enjoyed our stay at the house. It has everything you need to relax. In september the sun did not gain enough power to keep the pool warm enough, so we only used for a refreshing cold morning swim. I booked this house because I wanted the solitude. So You must alo accept the long road to a decent supermarket, I love to drive in the mountains with the narrow swings and grazy Italians in dead-defying Fiat 500's who acts like the drive world rally championships... When You do get to the supermarket, by plenty.. the house has a kitchens that has everything you need to cook.. Can anything be improved? Yes, but its a matter of personal taste. In the living room and the kitchen theres only 2 very bright lights in the ceiling. Meaning that you have to have complete darkness or complete white light. I would have liked some lamps in the corners .

“Spacious and comfortable House”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2015

Although this property was beside a road, it was not a really busy road and the cars that passed did not upset us at all. The house was very comfortable and spacious, being only the two of us. There was everything that we needed to cook our meals, as we mostly like to cook for ourselves and it is a lovely setting for having your meals at home. Of course we did eat out also as you just cannot come to Italy without enjoying the lovely food. This property was also good in that you could walk down the hill to Piazzo Al Serchio, where there are a few eating places, and you can also enjoy a glass of wine or two before you walk back up the hill. Depending on your fitness level it takes about 20 to 25 minutes. We ate in the main square where the pizzas were delicious and also we used to stop at the Station to have a drink. It is quite a little hub, and of course not just for the station. We also took the train from here to visit Lucca which takes about an hour. If you walk up the hill to Casciana (10 mins) there is a bar and a shop for your essentials. A friendly bar to visit. We did not see the Owner very often, but he was there when we needed him. The gas ran out and he was there in minutes to change it over. We enjoyed the pool very much too and we had a lovely two weeks in this house.

Response from the manager Thank you for your review. We are glad you had a good time at the property and the area, and that you enjoyed the fact too that you can walk to facilities. We have passed your feedback onto the owner. For the benefit of future guests, and just to clarify the road that passes by the house is an 'unadopted' road (originally built by locals) that passes over a river into Piazza al Serchio. The road serves only the small village of Casciana and the hamlet of Cascianella so that they can get to facilities without a longer drive around the 'proper' roads. The passing is therefore only used by those villagers and as a result is very quiet. It is totally usable but a little bumpy as it is not council funded. Thank you. Lorraine
