Description

Villa Gaggioleto is situated among the enchanting hills surrounding the lively towns of Castiglion Fiorentino and Cortona. This old Tuscan farmhouse offers a breathtaking view on the surrounding landscape and represents the ideal choice for those who wish privacy and tranquility. The renovation of this magnificent villa of pietra serena was carried out with refinement and taste. The property was elegantly furnished and provided with every modern comfort. Subtle colours, large spaces and wide French doors in wrought iron, stone and terracotta floors and beam of whitened wood make the ambiance a relaxing and gentle one. The ground floor, characterised by large arcades, hosts the living area. The access through large French doors leads to the living room with comfortable sofas and spacious dining room. A single bright location, separated only by big arcades which hosts also a bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen on the same ground. The kitchen, equipped with all the modern devices, is very spacious and provided with dining area, ideal to have breakfast or a quick lunch. A wooden staircase leads to the first floor where guests find a second living area with direct access to the garden. The sitting room is furnished with sofas, armchairs and big TV screen. The sleeping area is composed of 3 suites, each with ensuite bathroom (2 with bathtub and 1 with shower) and characterised by unique colours and decorations. The two main bedrooms have both their own access through a private staircase and are provided with spacious ensuite bathroom. All of the three bedrooms have a queen-size double bed at their disposal. The big garden hosts the big infinity pool. The garden also offers to the guests a relax area around the swimming pool consisting of wide equipped pergola, ideal to enjoy wonderful BBQs and to eat in the open air. On the terrace there is a lovely loggia, furnished with table and chairs and perfect to taste a great breakfast or to relax sipping a good glass of wine. The owner, a very discreet American gentleman, occasionally live in a small annex with private entrance inside the property and will be at your disposal to give his support or some useful advice to spend a nice holiday. The villa, the swimming pool and the garden are for guests' use only and will not be used by the owner.

Response from the manager Dear Marc, Thank you for writing this very detailed review about the property. This summer has been unconventionally hot, usually the old houses with thick walls like villa Il Gaggioleto are naturally cool and fans are generally enough. The peculiar layout of the house is due to its really ancient origines, the property has been completely renewed but without changing or losing the charming structure that characterized the Tuscan countryside manors. The aim has always been to preserve the naked beauty of this building and it is visible from each picture of the house that there aren't any curtains at all. We thank you for your suggestion and infact we put inside shouters in the double room upstairs (above the tv/sitting area). The same concept of maintaining the property as much natural as possible, is applied on the outdoor too. Parasols would ruin the panorama so the loungers are usually placed in the shade of trees, although, as usual, we are always at guests' disposal to provide them what they wish to have. The property is in the countryside, bugs come and go according to the weather so it is uneasy for us to notice and no one ever reported us the problem, probably most of the time they are present but irrelevant. We are happy to hear that there are many aspects of the villa that you have liked and thank you for sharing your considerations. We will do our best to improve what is possible.
