Description from owner

Description

Casina di Rosa is a wonderful opportunity for the independent traveller seeking privacy and a pleasant atmosphere. The house is a perfect base for sightseeing trips or to relax and experience daily life in a traditional Tuscan village.

The house consists of kitchen, bedroom with double bed and lounge area and bathroom and is furnished with original pieces and new items in traditional Tuscan style. The kitchen has all major appliances (including washing machine) and a working fireplace.

The house is located in Civitella Marittima, a small village that lies in the hills between the beaches of the Maremma and Siena. Both approximately 20 miles from the village. This is a fantastic location to explore southern Tuscany and all the major sites without having to choose among the most popular areas of Tuscany. Our location is the main strength of our cosy holiday home.

For the many positive reviews received, Casina di Rosa has been chosen as one of the Slow Travel Favourite vacation rentals in Tuscany. Moreover, thanks to the many activities that we run (wine tasting tours, olive oil tours, cooking classes, lavender tours, visit to cheese, honey and cured meats producers, Italian language courses) our home has been featured in several magazines such as Le Vie del Gusto and Dream of Italy. We make a point of offering low cost activities to make them affordable for the largest possible number of people so that the culture of our beautiful area can be fully appreciated.

We are happy to help our guests with anything they might need at all stages of their trip: from the planning stage to the moment they leave.

Over the years Casina di Rosa has been chosen by many soon-to-be brides and grooms who come to Tuscany to plan their wedding. We are happy to assist those who wish to find out more about what is necessary to get married in Tuscany. We are also proud to be located in a very appreciated honeymoon destination, and we welcome all the romantic travellers who wish to choose Tuscany to celebrate their recent wedding, an anniversary or simply their love.

We welcome guests as if they were friends staying at our own home: over the year we have met many incredible people and we are proud to help them discover the local culture and way of life.

Further details

Casina di Rosa has been selected as Slow Travel Favourite for the many good reviews we received.

We organise olive oil tasting, wine tasting tours, cheese and cured meat tasting, cooking classes and much more!

Casina di Rosa is idea for couples. It is very cosy and very romantic. We only rent from Saturday to Saturday. We are open to small discounts for longer stays.

Further details indoors

The house is completely independent and has been recently restructured. It can comfortably accommodate up to 3 people, but it is perfect for a couple.

The house has air conditioning for the summer months and heating for the winter months. There is also a very romantic fireplace for the colder months: nothing beats a nice bruschetta made with the new olive oil in front of the open fireplace!

The bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed, a large wardrobe and a chest of drawers for use by our guests. The bedroom includes a lounge area with two sofas, one of which can be converted in a third bed. In the large bedroom which has beamed ceilings and a faced-stone wall, as in the tradition of countryside homes in Tuscany, guests will find a coffee table, side tables, an I-pod dock station/Mp3 player, a TV with DVD reader, and a bookshelf with a large selection of guidebooks and maps available to our guests.

The kitchen is fully equipped. We make a point of listening to our guests recommendations. Guests will find a washing machine, fridge with freezer, gas stove, electric oven, electric kettle, toaster and filter coffee maker. There is an original stone fireplace for which we provide firewood. We provide a sample of our locally-produced olive oil, and guests can purchase some if they want.

The bathroom is accessed from the bedroom, to ensure privacy. It is new and outfitted with fixtures from Ideal Standard: WC, sink, bidet and shower. We provide towels and linens, changed every week.

The house is also provided with iron and ironing board, moka (espresso maker),hair dryer, electric heater for the bathroom.

Upon arrival, guests will find a welcome basket with local products.

We can help our guests arrange wine tours, olive oil tours or cooking classes, and more. We are available at all times to assist them, answer their questions or just to have a glass of wine!

Further details outdoors

The house has a nice outdoor seating space in front of the main entrance, with garden furniture and a BBQ. Perfect for enjoying the warm spring sun or the lovely summer evenings. On our small loggia guests will find garden chairs and a small table to dine al fresco if they wish. Guests can just sit outside to read a book, drink a glass of good local wine or just watch the local life go by.

“Wonderful hiding place in Tuscany”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2011

Freshly back from our second visit to Casina di Rosa and again very much happy about it. House is perfect for two with airco and anything you may need to cook or relax. The small village has the best restaurant in the region (the zucchini flowers with cheese is a must) and Gloria is very helpful with getting around and knowing where and what to see. There's guidebooks in the house and plenty to do in the region. It's also in an interesting region: on the east is the idyllic Tuscany with the best wines (Brunello), pine trees, rolling hills and history and on the west, rough nature empty of tourists with walks and little city gems (Massa Maritimia). We'll be back for sure. It's getting to be our secret hideaway in Tuscany. On the practical side of things - there is public transport available (bus) but still, without a car, it might feel a bit remote. (Which might actually be a reason for wanting to go there in the first place!)

“An amazing get-away in a breathtaking environment!”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2011

We could not have been more pleased with our stay at Casina di Rosa. Gloria and Marcel are the most attentive and thoughtful hosts imaginable! Every detail has been carefully considered and everything from the fluffy towels to the delicious local biscuits was absolutely perfect. The apartment is conveniently located a short distance from Siena - for lovely site-seeing and fantastic shopping - and from Marina di Grosseto, which was our favourite location during the week we stayed at the apartment. I look forward to staying at Casina di Rosa again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely place to stay in Tuscany.

“Excellent accomodation in the Tuscan countryside”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2011

I don't often fill out reviews on the internet but feel compelled to do so for the excellent hospitality we received when staying at Casina di Rosa. The owners were ever so accomodating, meeting us and helping our arrival, providing food for when we arrived as well as odd bits for cooking with, and the house was full of books and leaflets of things to do. Towels were provided, there is a washing machine and the kitchen is well equipped enabling you to cook a decent meal; there was so much there which allowed us to settle in right away. The house has two main rooms, a kitchen/dining room and a lounge/bedroom as well as a bathroom, which was plenty big enough for the two of us staying there as most days were spent out exploring. The house is situated in the centre of a village which has a few shops and is 15 minutes away from a town which has a couple of supermarkets. The village is a little way off the road that runs between Siena and Grosseto, much of which is dual carriageway, allowing easy access around the area. I would recommend a car to explore the area though we took the bus to visit Siena, which is about 40 minutes away. I would fully recommend this accomodation, it is clean, well thought-out and provides a great base for exploring the region of Tuscany south of Siena. I would recommend visiting Siena and climbing the tower, visiting the nearby thermal springs such as Saturnia or Petriolo, and strolling around and enjoying lunch in the beautiful hilltop villages nearby.
