“Wow! You'll love the Red Sunset!” Are you looking for a luxury guesthouse near Lake Arenal and Arenal Volcano? If so, look no further and book yourself into the Red Sunset. My husband and I, along with six friends, spent a week in March there. We are so glad we did! We found the accommodations to be everything they were advertised and more. The views are amazing and the house, pool house and grounds will give you plenty of opportunities to relax and explore. While the guesthouse is excellent, the very best feature is the owner/operator Patrick. Patrick met with us each day to help us plan activities and make reservations with the best tour operators. His local knowledge and recommendations were spot on each day, and his help was invaluable. The breakfast provided each morning was a highlight unto itself. Come prepared to eat well – you won’t be disappointed. We’ve never had meals of this quality at similar style lodgings. We also took advantage of the optional evening Chef services. While there were several great places to eat in the Lake Arenal area, all of which were recommended to us by Patrick, you won’t beat the meals prepared by Patrick and his wife. Our favorite was the Chicken Parmesan – sorry, Mom, but it was the best we’ve had anywhere! The Red Sunset was the perfect place for our Costa Rica vacation. We arrived as guests and soon felt like family. We’re glad we chose the Red Sunset!

“All around awesome!” Villa Hermosa is a gorgeous property located about 15 minutes outside of the city center. The drive from La Fortuna takes about 15 minutes which offers a look at what this amazing place in Costa Rica has to offer. Once you arrive you are greeted by Wendy, the owner, who is extremely welcoming and accommodating. She recommended activities and locations to visit while we were in the area. This saved us so much time and allowed us to enjoy every second. Before we got there, she gave us information about driving in Costa Rica, navigating the airport, etc. (so helpful!!) I would recommend renting a car if you plan on doing a lot of activities, but if you plan on lying around the property I'm sure there are other transportation options. The property is even better than even what we expected. My wife and I were kicking ourselves for not asking some friends to join us on the trip because there are plenty of amenities on the grounds to entertain 4 people. The private pool, outdoor dining and seating areas, kitchen, hammocks and garden were amazing. We found ourselves just wanting to hang in the hammocks listening to nature with a cocktail or coffee. It was so peaceful and calming! One recommendation I would have for travelers is to go to The Springs (a nearby resort) for their natural hot springs experience. My wife and I spent our evenings there lounging around in their thermal springs and it is about a 5 minute drive from Villa Hermosa. For $50 each, we got a 2 day pass to use the tubs. We especially enjoyed visiting the animal Rescue Center that they have on grounds (complementary tour with the pass). Overall - We couldn't have enjoyed our stay at the Villa Hermosa more. Wendy has done an amazing job at making this a one of a kind stay! The breakfasts were yummy, it was so nice waking up to fresh coffee daily was amazing, and staying here made our trip complete. “Dream Wedding Come True: Stunning, Unique, Tranquil, Exciting, Inviting” I was fortunate enough to have my wedding in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, and even more extremely fortunate to have it at PDV. I never imagined I would get to have an adventurous beach/jungle wedding, yet get to be in such luxury and tranquility at the same time. PDV allowed me and my guests to feel like we were set directly in nature with the most fabulous connection to beach and jungle, yet get to feel so comfortable, pampered and taken care of by the fabulous staff and amazing accommodations. PDV has it ALL and allows for ANY type of fun, peace, relaxation, partying, natural connection, and more. The best things about it are the views, the luxurious rooms and architecture, the nearby access to beach and jungle, the FABULOUS daily breakfasts, the amazingly nice and helpful staff and the true feeling of happiness and relaxation while you're there! I couldn't have imagined anything more for my wedding and I would 1000% recommend it to anyone wanting to get married or take a family or friend group vacation in Costa Rica! We are absolutely planning to go back in a few years for a reunion trip (and I wish we could go back right now!!!)
