This bright and spacious ground floor apartment is situated in the East Neuk fishing village of Crail, one of the prettiest villages

along the coast. The property offers high quality accommodation and is ideal for couples, friends and families. There is a pretty south facing courtyard garden, and the beach and harbour can be reached in minutes via the path directly from the garden gate. Located within the East Neuk of Fife, this is the perfect place to stay to enjoy the world famous golf courses, sandy beaches, walking, cycling, fishing, and watersports. This is a golfers paradise – within 10 miles of Crail there are 12 championship golf courses including the world famous Old Course at St Andrews. The quaint villages and stunning seascapes make this area a haven for artists, too.

The accommodation comprises:

Kitchen - the galley-style kitchen is well equipped with all mod-cons, including gas hob, oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, kettle and microwave. There is also a small table at the far end of the room.

Sitting room/sun lounge with dining area - this light, airy room houses a large, comfortable wrap-around sofa and arm chair, perfect for relaxing in front of the fireplace. There is also a TV with Freeview and a DVD player. A glass door leads into the sun lounge where you will find a dining table with 6 chairs and another door that leads out onto the private patio. This room has a glass roof, allowing plenty of light and warmth into the room on sunny days.

Bedroom 1 - the master bedroom with double bed

Bedroom 2 - with twin beds

Bedroom 3 - also with twin beds

Bathroom - recently re-fitted modern bathroom with bath, toilet, wash hand basin and shower

Outside, there is a small private patio with seating leading to the harbour path.

“Ideal for Traditional Family Seaside Holiday”

Reviewed 26 Jun 2021

We were a 3 generational party of 6 with Gran, Papa 2 Mums and 2 little girls aged 4 & 3. The 1 double room & 2 twins were ideal. Beds comfy with good linen. Plenty of drawer space. Although the 2 front bedrooms do face the road the traffic is quiet at night. The owner has obviously responded to a previous review about lack of blackout blinds and these are fitted in all bedrooms. The galley kitchen is well supplied with all you need & has a good sized fridge / freezer and washer / dryer. The diningroom is a lovely bright area with access to the courtyard which has a large table & chairs ideal for al fresco dining. We were lucky with the weather so we did use it at lunchtime! There are a small selection of beach toys and little fishing nets thoughtfully supplied by the owner...something less to cram in your own car! The gate from the courtyard opens onto an area of common grass which leads to the costal path. The path is quite steep but the girls managed it and it leads down to the harbour & small beach. A great deal of shell collecting, paddling and digging in sand were enjoyed by all. We bought both dressed crab & lobster from the seafood shack at the harbour...both were great as were the fish suppers from the chippie on the main street. The local Coop was well stocked, the bakers was excellent and there is also a good butcher and greengrocer. I would describe the apartment as homely. It's practical but not overly fancy. You didn't have to constantly worry that the children were going to touch and potentially break expensive ornaments. All in all we had a great holiday at Sea Neuk!

Response from the manager I must apologise for these cleaning issues. You really need to let us know when things like this occur as we can send someone in immediately to resolve the problem. Mistakes can happen, all that we ask is that we have an opportunity to rectify them. I'm afraid there is nothing we can do about the proximity of the road or pavement but it is not an issue that has been raised by previous guests. Rest assured the property is both loved and cared for. Kind regards David Fife Cottages

“Mixed stay at Sea Neuk”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2020

On the plus side, the kitchen is well equipped, there are lots of books/games in the sitting room and there is a good view once out of the property and onto the coastal path. Unfortunately, the beds are very hard and uncomfortable, as is the sofa. Adding mattress toppers to all beds would help enormously. The bedroom curtains are not lined and so let in all the light from dawn onwards - not great with 3 young children. Again, better quality curtains would be an easy fix. Only one bedroom had a window that opened, so the other two bedrooms became very stuffy. The foyer of the building smells very damp and there is black mould on the back of the main door. On the whole we felt the property was over priced for what it was, but Crail is a lovely place which we would come back to - just not to Sea Neuk.

Response from the manager Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you found the beds uncomfortable - this has not been mentioned by any other guest in the past. I will pass on your comments regarding the curtains and windows to the owners. The property is not damp but the main entrance is communal and therefore not in our sole control. The price of Sea Neuk is entirely in line with, if not slightly lower than, similar properties in the area. Kind regards David Fife Cottages

Response from the manager Dear Guest, Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear that the garden was not to your liking. The property is advertised as a ground floor flat so, unfortunately, it is difficult to avoid the fact that there are neighbours on the floor above. We hope that this did not detract from the overall enjoyment of your stay at Sea Neuk. Best wishes, Fife Cottages

“A satisfactory and pleasant stay”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2014

Sea Neuk was very comfortable and in an ideal location. It would have been nice if the garden had been secure - we have a spaniel and she would have been through the broken trellis fence in no time so she had to go out on a lead each time. A couple of complaints in the kitchen; a new teapot is desperately needed - the one there drips more tea than goes into the cup and it is rather discoloured and brown. Also the grill pain was in a disgusting state when we came to use it - after a good scrub it was useable but still very greasy. It had obviously not been checked when the house was cleaned Apart from the above, the accommodation as very comfortable.
