“Perfect”

Reviewed 7 Nov 2020

This a lodge is very cosy and I love the decor! Perfect location with regards to how close it was to the loch where you can fish, we found a secluded beach cove on site which was just over a little bridge where we spent 6 hours fishing and caught a Pike! The lodge consists of two bedrooms, one double room and one room with 3 single bunk beds which have a fantastic view from the window at the top, fantastic room for little children. Hot tub was beautiful to relax in, even in the rain! There is a shop and cafe a short walk away(currently closed on Tuesdays) and a few nice walks near to the site, we went for a walk to Oakwood Trail which is approx 10-15 mins away from site and will take approx an hour to walk around, it does get to 120m height but views along the way and the waterfalls are worth seeing. We took a walk to Loch Avich, it’s perfect for pictures and you’ll find the entrance to this by the sign for the Oakwood Trail. You are able to hire boats, although we didn’t do this, we wish we had because we could have visited the castle on the loch. We visited Glencoe, Fort William and Oban for the day. Glencoe is better for walks and deer spotting whereas Fort William and Oban are more for your tourists shops and attractions. These were approx an hour away from each other and Oban approx an hours drive away from site, we took a scenic route there and it’s picturesque!! Definitely worth getting out of the car for. We were kindly provided with washing up liquid, sponge, cloth and tea towels on arrival but you will need to take your own towels and hand towels for the bathroom. Linen was provided in both room and the double bed already made up for us, Thankyou! The single road drive to the site isn’t as bad as it sounds, it has been newly resurfaced and has plenty of passing places every minute so you won’t be stuck. There is an Indian and pub on the single road into site. The pub is called Kilchrennan Inn but unfortunately we did not visit but we did check the menu online. The Indian is called Black Rock Curry but don’t be fooled by the website and try to order online, just turn up and take what is available as it’s cooked in batches and froze so you have to take it back and cook for approx 40mins, this is about 10/15 minute drive away from the lodge and there is parking outside. It was lovely and a great price ! Overall we absolutely loved our stay, it’s a great place for couples, families and dogs, there are even a few rope swings around on site. This lodge shares the site with loads of other lodges but you have your privacy. Trip advisor won’t let me upload any more than 6 pictures but happy to send if you need to see any, enjoy !
