“Great time at King's Mountain Laurel” We are two adventurous Senior Adult couples who wanted to get away from it all for Thanksgiving. That's exactly what we found at this lovely cabin on top of this mountain, and the owner was warm and friendly. We were comfy, warm and the views from the porch was incredible! The driveway was a thrill and not for the faint of heart, but we had an experienced driver so we had no problems. Daniel's Steakhouse served a great Thanksgiving meal; Georgia Mountain Restruant had a great breakfast, and we shopped and explored the surrounding area on Friday...Don't miss Bell Mountain (another thrill) in Hiawassee, and Mark of the Potter in Clarksville. About Hiawassee
Located on the Hiawassee River and Lake Chatuge, Hiawassee’s name comes from the Cherokee word ‘ayhwasi’, meaning ‘meadow.’ It’s actually said that the city was named after a Native American Princess. The Southern Highlands Trail passes through here, and with a number of scenic waterfalls in the area for hiking, Hiawassee has become a popular spot for outdoors enthusiasts and those looking to escape Atlanta and other busy destinations.
