The Last Resort-Cute & Cozy,No Frills,Pet-Friendly

Boone house

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“The Last Resort was the perfect rental!” My sister and I traveled to Leatherwood Resort for a short get away and horse back riding adventure. We chose The Last Resort rental due to location and price. We were not disappointed. We were at the heart of the resort, next to the barns and restaurant and in a beautiful setting. The smaller rental worked just perfectly for the two of us, as we spent most of our time either riding or exploring the area. Everyone was very helpful and we had a great time. We hope to go back and rent the very same place again. It had everything we needed for the vacation we had planned. Thanks to everyone at Leatherwood Resorts!!!!!

PANORAMIC VIEWS: Kilkelly's 'WEST WING' Condo

Boone apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Home away from home” I own my own business, so any time away is especially precious. Kilkelly's West Wing Cottage was the perfect fit. Unlike the institutional feel of a hotel room, the West Wing is like a home away from home. Immediately, we felt comfortable and relaxed. The rooms were exceptionally clean and well kept. The rooms were equipped with every possible item anyone would need, even a tea kettle and grill accessories for the gas grill. The commercial like ice maker was an unexpected surprise. They even provided a small cooler for day trips. Normally in a hotel room, I am loathe to touch anything and notice the dirt and traces of previous guests. Immediately you can see how clean and welcoming the West Wing is - I had no hesitation using any of the amenities. We are very picky travelers and the West Wing exceeded our expectations. The breakfast casserole was so good I even got the recipe! There are several televisions with satellite, DVD, Blue-Ray, etc - available but we never even turned them on. It was so relaxing enjoying the sunrise, sunset and mountain views, we had no need for the outside world. We would not hesitate to come back and highly recommend the West Wing! :)

Innspiration

Boone log cabin

4 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Fantastic View, Fantastic Home” Innspiration was truly that - a wonderful and inspiring place to spend Easter weekend. The room layout was perfect for my husband and myself, my sons, daughter, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. Everyone had his or her own space but came together in the large open kitchen, dining area and living space. The view from the deck was unbelievable -- we sat there all afternoon and enjoyed the sunshine, then sat in the evening and exclaimed over the brilliant stars in the sky and lights in the distance. Fenced yard was perfect for our dog, and the walk down Bruno's Path to an overlook made us feel that we had our own piece of the Blue Ridge for the long weekend. Plus, it was great to have internet access so we could be in touch with the world. The first trip up the mountain was a little scary, but well worth it! Thanks for sharing this home -- we will be back.

Chestnut Lodge

Boone log cabin

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Comfortable and spacious” The Chestnut Lodge was a comfortable, clean and spacious house and we loved it. Each bedroom had a bathroom which was great for us and the living area was so comfortable. The house was located on a very high mountain and the road leading up to it was very windy and steep. A little off the beaten trail, but not too bad. Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals were a pleasure to work with. Would definitely use them again!

BREATHTAKING VIEWS at Kilkelly's CABIN

Boone log cabin

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“The best of the best” I have been visiting and staying in rental places in Western NC for many years and the Kilkelly Cabin has no peer. The cabin is perfect and the views other worldly but the best part of the experience are the hosts. Joanie and Gary made sure our stay was more than we ever could have imagined. We celebrated my son's graduation from App St, my Mom's 80th birthday and Mother's Day all in one spectacular long weekend. It literally could not have been better. 5 stars are not nearly enough. Thanks Joanie and Gary. We'll be back

The Dog House

Boone log cabin

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Very romantic and comfortable cabin for two.” The staff at Blue Ridge Rentals is always wonderful. We've rented from them a couple of times and they are very easy to work with. Several years ago, the house we rented didn't have heat and they immediately upgraded us to a different cabin right around the corner. The "Dog House" was an adorable cabin with a great hottub and a private fire pit down by the creek. We loved this house and we will be back.

Little Buck Ridge-Romantic, Views,Fireplace,HotTub

Boone house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 4

“Pleasant mountain cabin” We chose Leatherwood as a long weekend getaway at the last minute. Although the property has horseback riding as a focus, that did not detract from our stay. The cabin was a very nice 2 bedroom cabin with central air (needed it due to very warm weather). The deck and hot tub had great views. The kitchen was very nice as was the living area. The downstairs bath did not have a shower, only a garden tub. The property was a bit off the beaten path requiring about 30-40 minutes to get to Blowing Rock or Boone but the drive was through beautiful undeveloped foothills.

Black Bear Lodge-Views,HotTub,Fireplace,Pool Table

Boone house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Awesome!” Better than we expected. Photos don't do it justice, what a nice home & sooo comfortable! A few things to note: the upstairs king bed is VERY HIGH. Little stools are provided, but I was nervous to use them, worried I'd miss halfway getting out of bed - would rather fall flat... But it was a great mattress & very comfortable! That's the only bed on the main level, but there is a basement walk-in for the other 2 beds & full bath - just not very easy access for someone disabled - & must do stairs to get to kitchen. 2nd: the drive up to, & down from, the house is extremely steep & windy - not for the wimpy driver or weak vehicle transmission/brakes (nor is it for someone in a hurry!). 3rd: Note! No phone reception, except for land line with your credit card charged. Thank goodness for internet access! We used EMAIL to communicate with anyone we arranged meetings with during our trip. Leatherwood is about 30 minutes to the nearest downtown of Wilkesboro; otherwise there are 2 small convenience stores/gas stations ONLY & nothing else around...so plan your time & needs! We absolutely loved it at Black Bear (my husband & I, his parents & our adolescent sons) & we will be back, God willing!

Livin'the Dream-Theater Room,Pool/Foosball,HotTub

Boone house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Couldn't have asked for anything better!” Our goal when we booked Livin the Dream, was too have a nice family get away without all the commercialization surrounding us. What we got when we arrived to our "top of the mountain" get away, was so much more than I had anticipated. Not only were we far away from everything, the amazing views of the mountains and comfortable deck chairs were icing on the cake. The giant tub in the master was very inviting and relaxing! My kids enjoyed the pool table, foosball table, and the shuffle board table and hanging out most of the weekend nights in the theater room. I think one night they all fell asleep in the reclining theater chairs. We enjoyed breakfast around the very large dining room table and gathered in the kitchen late at night for snacks and conversation. My husband and I enjoyed relaxing on the couch near the fireplace and watching some tv. The people at Leatherwood were all very courteous and helpful. We ate at the restaurant on 2 different occasions and both times were made to feel like family. I also suggest you try the fish and chips! Best fried fish I have ever had, hands down. We did not come here to ride horses even though there were many here to ride and guides to take you on trails if needed. We were simply looking for a quiet weekend to get away and be with our kids and we couldn't have asked for anything better!! Highly recommend!

Cloud Nine-Romantic Log Cabin w/Views,WiFi,HotTub

Boone house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Highly Recommend” Staying at Cloud Nine for Christmas was wonderful. Every person we dealt with was so friendly and helpful from the booking process through check-in, barn staff and maintenance. The cabin fit all of our needs. The upstairs bedroom w/bath was perfect for my daughter, her husband and their infant daughter. The rest of us easily fit into the two main floor bedrooms. The only complaint would be that there is no sound buffer between the floor of the upstairs bedroom and the ceiling of the downstairs bedroom. This would not deter from booking this property again, though. The kitchen had everything we needed and the hot tub was a welcome comfort in the evenings. The view was amazing as were the stars at night. The location is perfectly located between Boone, Wilkesboro, and Lenoir. I highly recommend Cloud Nine.

“relaxing” My wife and I had wonderful time and look forward to coming back in the Fall. If I could make one suggestion to management it would be to make guest fully aware of the possibility that there could be flying insect making homes on and or around the rental properties. We encountered a cantelope size hornets nest under the gas grill on the back deck as we were about to grill out. Luckily no one was stung and thankfully there was a can of hornet spray in the pantry. Other than that the stay was fantastic.

Horseshoe Knoll-Hot Tub, Pool Table, Trails, Views

Boone house

2 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 10

“Awesome, secluded cabin for a large group of people// WONDERFUL house” I booked this house very last minute for a post Christmas mountain trip for my family of 8. We had more than enough space and more than enjoyed ourselves. The house is very nice, the views are gorgeous, wonderful hiking trails nearby, and a very responsive staff at Leatherwood. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and fire place and cable and wifi was an added bonus. I was also impressed with the very well-stocked kitchen. Only negative is that it's pretty off the map. We drove to Boone one day and Blowing Rock another and both trips were 30-45 minutes. We wanted to explore, but you could easily come and never leave the cabin. Just be sure to stop at the grocery store :)

“Wonderful Experience” My wife and I had wonderful time up there. It was everything that we hoped for. The house had beautiful decor and an amazing view. The only complaint is that the internet is through Dish Network and it is extremely slow which for all practical purpose is non existent. Since the place is so isolated and does not have access to a Redbox or any other video rental places, it would be a great addition to have a collection of DVDs.

The Crest at Woodridge

Boone cottage

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 2

“The house and setting allowed us to relax and get away from the” My wife and I spent a relaxing 3 weeks at the Crest. The setting is beautiful and the house is quite comfortable. We spent our time reading and taking day trips to nearby towns and attractions and our city dogs loved being able to roam around the woods off-lead. We enjoyed seeing the wildlife around the house such as deer and a wild turkey. The cool air and mountain vistas were quite a treat for flatlanders such as us who normally endure the misery of august in south Louisiana.

About Boone

High up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the town of Boone is one of the most visually appealing areas in North Carolina. With its mountain scenery and friendly locals, Boone is a great place to make your home as you explore western North Carolina. The main street in the town is King Street, a long strip full of boutique shopping and fine-dining options.

While you're in Boone, check out some of these main attractions:

  • Blue Ridge Parkway: This national parkway runs for almost 500 miles along the Blue Ridge Mountains and the beautiful scenery makes for a great afternoon drive.
  • Daniel Boone Native Gardens: Open from May to October, these gardens host a collection of plants and flowers that are native to North Carolina.
  • Howard's Knob: With an elevation of over 4,000 feet, this mountain provides great views of the town of Boone.
  • Tweetsie Railroad: This railroad oriented theme park has amusement rides and the chance to ride on an authentic steam locomotive.
  • Eli Knob State Park: Located just outside of Boone, this park has over 1,800 acres for recreational use and is open throughout the year.

Boone has a surprisingly large number of events throughout the year for such a small town, making the area full of people and activity no matter when you visit. Named after the famous pioneer and explorer Daniel Boone who regularly camped in the area, the town puts on a performance about his life every year at its outdoor amphitheater. Some other noteworthy events include Sugarfest at Sugar Mountain, the Boone Christmas Parade, and the Appalachian Summer Festival.

Whether you're looking to explore the great outdoors or just relax and unwind, there's a vacation rental in Boone that's right for you. In addition to luxury condos or apartment rentals by the main drag of town and, it's also possible to rent a spacious cabin with the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains right out your window.
