“Awesome experience”

Reviewed 16 May 2017

Our family came together to celebrate my daughters' graduation from ASU. There were 10 of us...We had a blast. This was so much better than 5 individual motel rooms. The house was clean and neat and spacous and well laid out. The zoned AC worked well. We were glad we had been warned about the winding, curvy road and steep driveway We sat around the dining room table for 12 and talked and talked and talked. We sat on the deck and talked and talked and talked. The bedrooms were gorgeous and the space immense. We had contests playing pool, shuffleboard, foosball and air hockey. We watched movies, read, relaxed and sat in the hot tub. We spent 18 minutes trying to lock doors and turn o ff the shower. We grilled. We laughed and we cried. We had a very, special long weekend. Not only was my daughter valedictorian of her class, she also got engaged. We were greatly blessed.

Very exciting to hear about all the special memories made and we hope you come back to see us soon. Kindest Regards, Brooklin

“Fantastic!”

The house was fantastic! The only drawback was the drive up the mountain. I hope to be able to visit again!

“Magnificent, Incredible, Extraordinary, very Enjoyable”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2011

Could not have been more pleased, From my first phone call to Mickey who helped me through the first phase to Karen at check in to Helen who helped me retrieve a childs stuffed animal left behind. The accommodations were superb, the service, was wonderful, the stay was very enjoyable thanks to all the right ingredients.

“International reunion”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2011

We brought friends and family from Europe, Africa, and asia, and we all were thrilled with the beauty and comfort of the cabin. The only problem we encountered were lights and fans in some bedrooms that turned themselves on and off -- especially an issue at night. The coffee maker wasn't working, but someone came over within an hour and replaced it with a new one. Everyone associated with a High Country Retreat was very helpful and friendly.

“Our best retreat ever”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2011

Our men's book club has had spring retreats every year for the past 15 years, always at beach houses along the North Carolina coast. If the weather is cold, wet or overcast at the beach, which it can be in the spring, it can be a real damper on the retreat. This year we decided to give the mountains a try and someone told us about the High Country Retreat. The house and its views are even better than the photos indicate. It was perfect for our 10-member book club. It's great even if it's snowy, which it was the first of april this year, because it's a perfect winter lodge with several gas fireplaces and tvs, pool table, foosball and a really great kitchen (we're foodies as well). Instead of staring out at a flat, gray ocean, we had fabulous views down the valley and across to the next layer of mountains. The nearby ski runs had closed for the season, but we took advantage of the wintry weather to hike up nearby Elk's Knob in the snow. I think we've been converted from beach bums to mountain men. We're planning on returning for next year's retreat.

“Wonderful family retreat”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2011

We stayed here for a long weekend with three generations of family. There was plenty of space for the kids to play in the entertainment room downstairs and the adults to relax in the wonderful living room with the amazing views. The kitchen really did have everything we needed to prepare gourmet dinners for twelve!
