Rustic Cabin, Appalachian Elegance

Asheville apartment

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Convenient Mountain Retreat” Minutes from Asheville, this cabin-style accommodation was warm, cozy and convenient. The house sits on a ridge so we enjoyed sunrises on one side & sunsets on the other. Being able to bring our dogs was a plus. Saw a flock of turkeys but the owner told us we missed seeing a mother bear with her cubs.

10% OFF! Tranquil Glen of Asheville-20 min drive to AVL

Asheville log cabin

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Wonderful friends and memories of great trip!” We had a wonderful time at Tranquil Glen. It was exactly what we expected when we booked the house. The views from the pouches were great and we loved fires in the firepit because it gets cool at night in June. There was plenty of comfortable seating on the porch and in the house for the 5 of us. All appliances worked and there was plenty of cookware. Bandit, the neighbors dog, came over 3 nights to visit so bring dog biscuits. He is so sweet. Overall great rental experience. The owners were responsive to our questions prior to arrival.

“At least as good as advertised” When we arrived, we were met with a friendly smile, a lot of information, a good quick tour of the location, and a bottle of wine with two glasses. We wanted a pet friendly place, and I kind of expected some evidence of other pets - smell, scratches, etc. We found nothing of the kind. Which is great when one of us also has asthma and would be sensitive to a dirty place. For the holiday season, they even had a tree in the corner. The fireplace is great. The great room is huge. And the views were terrific. The bedrooms were more than enough for us. Master bedroom was huge and kids enjoyed the second floor space with two twin beds and a TV. We came to visit the asheville river arts district and to take our kids on the Great Smoky RailRoad Polar Express Tour. Both events were close enough. But we also stopped by the Biltmore and the National GingerBread House Contest at the Grove Park Inn. (Got a nice tip - pay for a morning massage at the Grove Park and get use of their spa facilities all day). I'm a runner, so the high grade gravel road to the house was not to my liking for that. Altitude, steep hill, thin road that was a bit slippery. But I also went just a bit higher than the house to the RV Campground and not only found great hilltop views, but also tons of trails that wound around the hills. These would be terrific for exploring with the kids and dogs on another trip. We will definitely look to this house first for a return trip. I should note that though the house felt very remote, anything we wanted was close by. We had a need for a pharmacy and groceries right away and they were quick to get to. We even found a decent Thai restaurant in a strip mall close by. Other restaurants looked good. But the proximity to downtown and the River arts area was surprising. Had to be only three highway exits away and no traffic.

“Hidden Gem” Stumbled upon Reva's place just looking last minute for accommodations for the night, but we found so much more. The property is gorgeous, not too far outside of Asheville but far enough away to see every star in the sky. The animals were a fun touch and the trails around the property were great. She offers a ton of spiritual healing packages that I'd like to come back and take advantage of, the only thing we used was the hot tub that was tucked away on the property and was wonderful to watch the stars at night. Would definitely recommend!

“Breath-taking mountain views!” One of our BEST get away locations ever! Far exceeded our expectations! The mountain views were spectacular and the house is beautifully designed down to every little detail......while very comfortable/relaxing. We were 20-25 min from downtown and the Biltmore Estates, but really looked forward to hanging out in this cozy cottage after site seeing. It was truly the highlight of our weekend trip. If you like nature and scenic views, this is the place to be. When we arrived, there were wild turkeys in the yard......so cool!

“A cozy getaway so close to everything!” We went with 3 other families and our young toddlers and the home was super kid friendly. They supplied us with a high chair and pack and play as well as a gate for the stairs. They really thought of everything. The home had all the kitchen supplies that we needed and we spent many evenings just hanging out and grilling relaxing in the house. Very clean and comfortable.amazing views as well!

“Wonderful get away” We had such a great time. The accommodations were perfect. The house was impeccably clean and the beds were so comfortable. The hot tub was wonderful too. It was just what six overworked moms needed in a girls weekend away. Asheville is such a fun place to visit. We enjoyed the restaurants and the shopping. We even managed to get a spa treatment. We will definitely be back again.

“Just a Great Place” We got to the cabin and were tired, we got ready to make coffee and realized we would have to go to the store to get some cream. Opened the fridge an Muffi had stocked some cream (Moo Moo Minis). I tell this story because it is the way things seemed to go for the next few days. So many of our needs were met and anticipated. The "eye candy" of the cabin was just grand, the craftsmanship superb, windows in unusual places, high quality windows, and very clean, very quiet neighborhood, easy parking, close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Biltmore. Very nicely done, As Arnold S. says "I'll be back"

“A Relaxing Mountain Escape for the Whole Family” My family (two sets of parents, myself, my husband and aunt) all stayed here in October for a fall getaway. The home itself was very nice. We loved the high ceilings, the large family room and the long dining room table. There were even some games and puzzles that we enjoyed. The living room had a nice wood burning fire place that kept us warm in the evenings. The was a small TV upstairs, but we couldn't get it to work, so we had to retire to the family room downstairs if there was a desire to watch TV. The quality of the TV in the family room downstairs was wonderful! It was a nice large, HD flatscreen, which was perfect for watching Sunday football. There is another fire place downstairs. We also enjoyed the large outside deck and a dip in the hot tub with a glass of wine, which was a relaxing treat. The house is close a grocery store, which was very conveinent and downtown asheville is only about a 10 minute drive. The place was clean and well appointed.

“Perfect Peaceful Spot on the River” Jack and Christy were great. We briefly mentioned we were “getting away” for our anniversary and they had champagne and a lovely card waiting for us. We travelled to the area to visit Biltmore, which is a must see. The cabin is about 25 mins. away from Biltmore and is a perfect spot to enjoy peace and quiet and enjoy a little nature. We sat by a fire in the evening, listening to the river rumble and were able to see a deer come to the river as well as ducks and an Osprey glide between the trees. It’s only 5 mins. from I-40 but you feel like you miles and miles away from anyone. Jack and Chrsty, thanks again for your hospitality. Your beautiful cabin and attention to detail throughout made our anniversary one that we’ll remember for a long time. Oh- and the frosty beer mugs in the freezer were much appreciated.

“Wonderful historic home, beautifully decorated and spacious enough to host many guests.” It was a dream come true to stay in a historical home. The property was tastefully decorated and maintained the feel from an earlier era, but yet had all of the modern conveniences we enjoy today. It was a joy to wind up the driveway each day line by the rock wall to the spacious home that awaited us. The nights were cool enough to doze of to sleep each evening by the warmth of the fire place. And the accommodations and rooms were ample enough to have family and friends as overnight guest without feeling squeezed for space. Further, we hosted several more guests for multiple dinners with ease. The spacious home provides inviting places inside and out for parties to dine and recline. The owner of the home Julie has thought of everything. Can't wait to return.

About Asheville

Asheville, NC has earned the reputation as one of America's most cultured and richly distinctive cities on the East Coast. There are few places in the world that possess as much diversity, history, and natural beauty as this area does. Asheville offers an endless range of activities with mountain biking and hiking trails, fishing hot spots, and whitewater rafting right outside your back door. Craving historical architecture and timeless works of art? Tour the Art Deco City Hall and the Asheville Art Museum, located in the heart of downtown. Visitors can also spend a day shopping and dining, or enjoying the links at one of the city's beautiful golf courses amidst a Smokey Mountain backdrop. Cultural and outdoor adventures can be pursued by day, and by night, while entertainment can be found in the numerous fine theaters, music venues, and local bars.

Some of the sights you will definitely want to see include:

  • The Biltmore House: Known for its world-class architecture, Asheville is home to this George Vanderbilt 250-room estate, which is also renowned for being America's largest home.
  • Smokey Mountains Railroad: Step onto this train and travel through rivers, mountain tunnels, and hills.
  • The Diana Wortham Theatre: This venue showcases the best of live dance, theater, and musical performances around. It is situated at the center of Asheville's downtown, surrounded by an abundance of great restaurants, galleries, and museums.
  • Mount Mitchell: If breathtaking vistas are what you are after, look no further. The spectacular views atop this mountain peak, which is the highest one in the Eastern United States, are just 15 minutes away from Asheville.
  • Haunted Asheville: Created by the author of Haunted Asheville, Joshua P. Warren, these ghost tours of the area are a very popular attraction. They feature secrets of the town's history, the Brown Mountain Lights, and some of Asheville's most ominous apparitions.
  • Botanical Gardens at Asheville: A beautiful sight to behold for nature lovers wanting to see some native plants in their natural environment. The trail is a relaxing setting perfect for a leisurely stroll among the exquisite surroundings.

The Appalachian Mountains become your backyard while staying in your very own vacation rental. Watch the early morning sun hit the hills of Asheville from the privacy of your own cabin rental or condo. As the most spacious, secluded and genuine lodging option in the area, vacation rentals in Asheville provide a personal experience you simply won't find in Asheville camping. Pisgah Paws sitting high on the ridge!- Private Hot Tub, Fireplace, Romantic, Vi
Relaxing getaway cabin but spotty internet

The location is great - just far enough outside Asheville for a quiet, mountain cabin feel without being too far away from everything. The outdoor hot tub is lovely for unwinding in the mountain air, and it's secluded enough to not have to worry about prying eyes. Gas grill is clean and easy to use, perfect for cookouts. Pet friendly - our cats loved exploring. The only downside is the slow, spotty wifi, but it was enough to get by, and if you're looking to unplug, this might be the best place for it.see more

Rustic Cabin, Appalachian Elegance
Breathtaking

This rustic cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Being up on the mountain we were out of the hustle and bustle of town, but close enough to venture out if we wanted to. The views from the porch were spectacular, especially as the sun came up, which you can watch from the comfort of the bed through a large window! The inside of the cabin is charming, with all of the comforts home including a full kitchen, bathroom with a stand up shower. The cabin was quiet and despite the owner, George being upstairs we felt alone. George is a great host! He is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us a quick tour of the cabin and best spots for pictures when we arrived. My only regret is we couldn't stay longer! We will be going back. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a quiet, secluded, cozy place to escape in the mountains. see more
