“Beautiful home” We had a week long stay scheduled. It was beautiful. The house was amazing and the view was perfect. We had to cut our trip short though. There are so many stairs and the stairs down to the river were way too much. I wouldnt suggest this property for anyone with health conditions, pregnancy or small children with them. It would be perfect for young couples or older groups who are in excellent shape. Jeff Hayes was amazing to deal with as was Flip Key advisors. It was such a smooth way to book a beautiful home. I will definitely use them again in the future.

“What a nice little getaway place!” Dealing with Shirley was very easy and I appreciate her working with me on a last minute decision to rent a log home. A lot of house rentals want advance notice, and will not let you stay for only one evening, you have to book for 3 days minimum. Shirley's house worked great for a last minute get away for my girlfriends Birthday. The following day we got up and went sight seeing. Very nice quiet area to get away from your daily life! Would highly recommend Shirley and her Beautiful house.

“Loved this place” I rented this place for family coming into town. We all absolutely loved it! The house is very nice and new. The yard was big enough for the kids to run around and they really enjoyed playing on the zip line. There was plenty of room for our party of five. The kitchen had plenty of cookware and dishes. Everything about the place was great! Thank you for sharing your home with us.

About Lake Lure

It may be best known as the place where Baby and Johnny performed their famous “Lake Lift” in the film “Dirty Dancing”, but you’re guaranteed the time of your life when you vacation in Lake Lure.

Browse FlipKey's rentals to find your perfect lakeside log cabin.

About Lake Lure, North Carolina

The town of Lake Lure has been used as a filming location for films such as Dirty Dancing, Thunder Road and The Last of the Mohicans (filmed at nearby Chimney Rock). One of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the country, the resort nestles at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, around 27 miles from Asheville.

With a sandy beach, plenty of activities taking place on the lake itself and acres of state parks to explore, there’s plenty here for couples, families and groups of friends looking for an action-packed vacation.

You can expect plenty of sunshine, too, as the climate here is mild all year round, with average highs of around 82 degrees Fahrenheit in July.

You’ll find plenty of family-friendly restaurants and cafes serving hearty cuisine and fresh fish—you could even order your own watermelon (carrying it is strictly optional).

What to do in Lake Lure

Every August, the Dirty Dancing Festival takes place at the lake with a free lakeside screening of the film, activities, dancing, live music and the chance to try your very own “Lake Lift”. Book your tickets in advance to ensure you don’t miss out!

Why not relax on the well-maintained sandy beach, take the kids to the water park with its slides, or stroll across the Flowering Bridge and along the boardwalk? This 155-foot bridge has been transformed into a beautiful garden that's a popular photo spot.

For something a little more active, you can hike or bike through 1,500 acres of countryside at Buffalo Creek Park, take part in a range of watersports on the lake, or visit Chimney Rock Park with its Great Woodland Adventure Trail and Animal Discovery Den for the kids. Here you’ll meet Greta the Groundhog, as well as reptiles, amphibians and other creatures.

Top travel tips for Lake Lure

The nearest airport offering domestic flights is Asheville Regional Airport, around 30 miles from Lake Lure.

You do need a permit to fish on the lake and in Hickory Nut Gorge, but you can always book a local guide or head out on an organized fishing expedition to fish for rainbow and brown trout, catfish, bluegill and cass.

A guided boat tour (leaving from the marina) is a great way to find out more about the area and see the main attractions.

Whether you’re a fan of Dirty Dancing or just looking for a lakeside retreat for a family vacation, Lake Lure is the perfect place to spend a week or two.

FlipKey’s range of vacation rentals includes lakeside cabins and charming cottages – browse our available properties today and book a vacation to remember.

We had a great time!

We had a wonderful time at this home. The outdoor area is great and we enjoyed the outdoor fire and the adventure down the steps to the river. Jeff was very easy to communicate with and the house was well stocked. It is easy to get to and close to restaurants, grocery stores, and activities. … see more

So many awesome things to do and relaxation time all rolled up i

Such a wonderful cabin away from it all, yet things close enough for adventure. Cabin was clean, with great space. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils to be able to cook meals. Hot tub was perfect for chilly nights. Shirley was a great host, always keeping communication open before and during our stay. She was getting ready to leave the cabin right as we were arriving, yet she took the time to meet us, give us a tour of the cabin, give us details of dining and things to do in the area, and answer any questions we had. For us Floridians it was an adventure just driving on the winding roads and one night in snow for the first time! Exploring around the cabin was great. So peaceful and wonderful nature on the trail and the creek was great. We did zip lining at Canopy Ridge Farms which the speed and views were breathtaking. New Years Eve was spent roasting hot dogs and marshmallows by the outdoor fire pit. My son, 16, and I went rock climbing for over four hours on Rumbling Bald, doing four different routes with Fox Mountain guided tours, while my husband and daughter, 11, did a guided hike through part of Rumbling Bald. Went to the Biltmore Estates Candlelight tour. Was really beautiful and would recommend getting the audio guide if doing a self-guided tour. The North Carolina arboretum had an awesome Lego display with life size creations of animals, people and flowers. There was also fresh snow in the parking lot so my daughter was able to make her first little snowman! My son did one of the biking trails their and really enjoyed it. He also enjoyed riding his bike down the driveway of the cabin! Also enjoyed doing some shopping in Chimney Rock. Dining was great at Phil's BBQ in Black Mountain, La Strada, fancy Itailian in Lake Lure, and Ole's Guacamole in Black Mountain. All the adventure and food were within 20-50 minutes of the cabin which was perfect. Wishing we could of stayed for another week to relax more and do so many of the other adventures provided!!!see more
Enjoy The Beautiful Lake and Mountain Views from every room of the house!
Huge house, excellent location

The house is very well maintained and beautiful inside out. I stayed with my girlfriend for the weekend in June. It is close to Asheville and just few minutes from Lake Lure & Chimney rock. The house has 3 BR and 2bath which can easily accomodate 3 couples(6 people). It has good size Samsung TV that one can watch movies on with a glass wine in the living room. I recommend to take your tablet and chromecast so you can stream movies on the TV. I 100% recommend this place to anybody who is looking for a getaway in the mountains or the Lake. I will definitely stay here agan and will recommend all my friends.. Melanie(the owner) is easy/fast to get in touch with via text/phone, although we didn't had any issue to contact her but as soon as I entered the house, I was so impressed that I texted to thank her and she replied back immediately:-).see more
A Touch of Luxury Cabin
Gorgeous log cabin!

We stayed here the last week of august and had a fantastic time! Bridget was very responsive and great to work with before arrival. Detailed instructions were provided on how to use the TV, electronics, WiFi, etc., and where to fond things. The house is immaculate and very well maintained. This place is definitely more beautiful than in the pictures. Carl, the owner, built the house himself and his craftsmanship is exceptional. Can't wait to come back next year and hope to take advantage of the theater room he is working on. I highly recommend this vacation home to anyone!see more
Casa Di Bello - House Beautiful! Mountain View!
Excellent Home Away from Home. Gorgeous Home.

I do agree with the other travelers and it is a very spacious and every one has their own private space. Love the fact everyone had their own bathroom and bedroom; the beds were very comfortable, and beautiful scenery going up and down the mountains. Due to the time of year we vacationed, we did not use the amenities that were provided.see more
