Description from owner

Description

Begrum cottage at Burnbrae Holidays is a well equipped, light & airy, spacious holiday cottage in the heart of the Scottish Borders, peaceful spot 3 miles north of Kelso. Easy drive from coast, hills, Edinburgh. Private, south-facing conservatory, garden and patio with views across cottage garden to Cheviot Hills. Log burning stove. Free super fast reliable Wi-Fi via fibre. EV charger available.

Begrum cottage has one bedroom with twin beds which can be arranged as a 6" double bed in the bedroom and a double sofa bed in the living room. There is central heating throughout & a log burner in the living room. All of the rooms are on the same level, with level access from the large, private car park. You can bring your car close to the main entrance of each cottage for loading.

Relax in your private south-facing conservatory, or in a recliner on the patio, watching the wildlife, admire the garden, walk in our fields and along the riverside or snuggle-up in front of your cosy log-burning stove.

Begrum cottage has a living room with ample space for comfortable seating and also dining. The separate kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge freezer, hob, combination microwave oven and conventional oven with grill. The bathroom has a shower over the bath. There is a lockable cycle shed and a separate laundry with a washing machine and tumble drier for the use of guests. Each cottage has a heated drying cupboard. We hold Silver Award for Green Tourism.

Begrum Cottage is within 50 minutes drive from Edinburgh, and 50 mins drive from the superb east coast, Border towns, Cheviot and Ettrick hills. Ideal for visiting the many abbeys, gardens and stately homes which are found nearby (Floors Castle and Mellerstain House are just a few minutes away). Just 3 miles from Kelso with its splendid square, magnificent abbey ruins, racecourse, individual shops and a wide selection of places to eat.

The quiet country roads are a joy for motorists and cyclists alike. More adventurous mountain bikers can test their nerves on the Glentress trails. For the less daring, the Borders offers a wide variety of golf courses, fishing, horse-riding, walking - from strenuous hikes up the Cheviot to peaceful strolls amongst the splendid Borders scenery - or admiring the textiles, pottery, woodwork and paintings on show in the numerous studios and galleries to be found within the area.....and you can return to relax in the peace of Burnbrae.

There are many local walks and cycle routes where you are unlikely to meet anyone due to the lack of people. Or sit and relax while admiring the wonderful rural views and amazing birds in your cottage garden.

We live on-site and enjoy helping guests with information and other assistance.

We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you to Burnbrae Holidays.

Response from the owner Thankyou for taking the time to review our holiday cottages. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Thankyou for leaving Begrum so clean and tidy, there was very little evidence that a dog had spent a week in the cottage. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Burnbrae next year.
