In March of 2011, various members of my family decided that we would all meet up in Maui for a big get together. I ended up booking 4 condos in total in the D building at the Kihei akahi. My Dad was the lucky one who ended up in D504. Out of all the units that I had booked, D504 was the best one. It was very clean and decorated quite simply, yet comfortable, with everything you could possibly need from a perspective of kitchen supplies, bedding, towels, and beach paraphernalia. And the view was probably one of the best in the building. The units towards the other end of the floor are a little blocked by palm trees, but D504 had an absolutely stunning view. My Dad was thrilled with his accommodations, so much so that we have decided to go back next spring, and he asked me to book him into D504 again!
Prior to going, I had done a lot of research on Kihei condos that are either ocean front or have ocean views. The Kihei akahi absolutely is one of the best condos from a perspective of location and value.
The only thing that was not so great about our visit had nothing to do with the unit itself, but more about some of the owners/permanent residents in the D building...my sister had her two young children with her and it was fairly clear that some of the residents were not very tolerant of the behavior of small children, like playing on the grass and the occasional shouting at the pool.
I think these units are more suited to older families - we had no problems with our 10 year old daughter, but if you have toddlers, I would recommend staying somewhere that is more suited to families with small children.

Very nice ocean and sunset views from the lanai. Only one block off the beach. Very close and easy driving to Wailea. Extremely clean. Walking distance to lots of the shops in Kihei. Before the trip, Joan kept us well informed of anything we might need to know. We felt like we were in our island paradise with all the comforts of home.

What a wonderful vacation, Joan's Maui Condos are the answer to nothing but relaxation. The condo is fully equipped. We practically lived on the lanai, breakfast watching the whales, lunch watching the whales and dinner watching the whales. If you are looking for down time this is it. Take some flip-flops, bathing suit, shorts and enjoy. Everything is close by, restaurants, shopping and beaches. So give yourself a break and relax, we have for the past 6 years and have enjoyed this vacation get-a-way.

We were pleased with our two weeks in Joan's condo.
The condo was very clean, well equipped and met our
needs. The sunsets viewed from the balcony were beautiful. The condo was a nice change from staying in more expensive hotels we've stayed in during our previous visits to Maui.

We were very pleased with the condo we rented. The view from our balcony was great. We were able to watch beautiful sunsets every night and could even see the whales from our balcony. Enjoyed cooking on the grills that were by the pool. The beach was in walking distance right across the street. Also close to shopping, etc. Would definitely consider coming back to this condo in future visits to Maui.

This was our first trip to Maui and the first time that we rented a condo thru the internet. We were not diappointed. Joan's condo was beautiful, very clean, and well equipped with everything we could possibly need. And the view from the lanai was spectacular. Beautiful sunsets.
We had such a wonderful time in Maui. It was a vacation that we really needed. A good place to heal our souls. We shall be back.
