The West Wing of an historic mansion house, situated in mature private gardens overlooking the Solway Coast. Set just 200m from the shoreline, this distinctive property has ready access to a variety of coastal activities, ideal for beach holidays, watersports, coastal walks, golf, fishing and cycling. The perfect location to experience secluded and tranquil escape in the countryside.
A perfect retreat for family holidays, the newly renovated accommodation is equipped to the highest of modern standards, while retaining much of the original Victorian architectural character and charm.
The house provides a lounge with spectacular panoramic coastal sea views, a large dining hall with feature log-burning fireplace, a traditional farmhouse kitchen, 4 bedrooms including 1 king size master suite with ensuite bathroom, 1 kingsize bedroom, 1 double room and a twin room with adult size bunkbeds and a separate daybed (suitable for children under 14), a family bathroom with bath and separate shower, a cloakroom with WC, and a separate utility room with washer/dryer. Externally, there is a sea-view terrace, a large lawned garden with adjoining stream, a one-acre 'walled garden' suitable for ball sports and ample parking for several cars. We are licensed for a maximum occupancy of 8 guests.

“Beautiful Manor House with stunning views”
We had a wonderful week’s holiday staying at the West Wing apartment at Knoxbrex. The house is ideal for a large family and we chose it for it’s secluded location so that we could all safely be together for a family break. The house itself is spacious, clean and well equipped. We loved having drinks on the terrace in the early evening watching the sun reflect off the water and seeing deer, red squirrels and numerous types of birds around the gardens. The beaches at Sandgreen, Brighouse Bay and of course the local Carrick were all beautiful and we managed to swim in the sea on most days. At low tide a walk from Carrick over to one of the Fleet islands was very enjoyable as were visits to Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and of course Cream of Galloway ( we seemed to stop off there on the way home most days as it’s so close to the house!) We would highly recommend this beautiful house for a safe and very comfortable family holiday. It’s made us realise we can have as much fun and enjoyment on a “staycation” holiday as we can abroad.

“Stunning views whatever the weather”
A great place to stay - we fell in love with Dumfries and Galloway. So much to do and see; great walks, including crossing to the island at low tide; good coffee shops, galleries and restaurants in Kirkudbright; a comfortable and spacious property; absolutely stunning views throughout the day and night - both when the sun was shining and while it was blowing a gale.
