Description

Seashell Cottage is a charming traditional “home away from home” property located in the heart of the quiet coastal village, Lower Largo. This former fisherman's cottage is situated across the road from Largo Bay making it an extremely popular location for a holiday. Apart from the beautiful beach at Largo there are also superb beaches to be found in nearby Elie and St Andrews. The East Fife costal path extends for 78 miles starting at the Forth Bridge.

There is a good local pub in Lower Largo as well as a hotel at the harbour which serves food daily. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance. The village is famous as the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, the sailor who lived as a castaway for 4 years on Juan Fernandez Island and provided inspiration for Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe. His statue stands above the doorway of his home on the Main Street.

Lower Largo is a great location for golf enthusiasts with several premier golf courses nearby including Lundin Links, St Andrew, Crail, Anstruther and Ladybank. There are also many leisure facilities including walking, water sports and cricket. Tennis, squash and fitness facilities are available in the area.

St Andrews is a short drive (11 miles) and is known worldwide as the home of golf. It is also home to the third oldest University in Scotland and it is well worth a visit to the quaint street and stunning beaches. Edinburgh is approximately and hour's drive from Lower Largo.

The Accommodation:

On the ground floor there is a small hallway giving access to the lounge which is open plan to a dining area and fully fitted kitchen. Upstairs there is a large bathroom and double bedroom (kingsize bed) with ample wardrobe space. The attic bedroom, which is accessed off the main bedroom, has twin beds and a dormer window and due to restricted ceiling height is best suited to children.

Gas Central Heating, Wireless Internet, Freeview TV with DVD player in lounge. TV with DVD player in attic bedroom. The kitchen has a large fridge/freezer, electric oven with ceramic hob, microwave, washing machine, dish washer, iron/ironing board, hoover, clothes airer, hairdryer, garden chairs, barbeque, beach seats, travel cots, high chair, bed linen, towels, tea, coffee, cleaning materials.

Outside:

There is a large shared walled garden with seating and rotary clothes dryers to the rear of the property. The tiered garden is a sun trap and has a table and chairs and there is a small barbeque.

Pets:

One small dog is permitted and the extra cost is £25 per stay.

“Lower Largo loveliness!”

Communication with our hosts was easy right through the process. We travelled with 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We loved Seashell Cottage - it was a home from home. It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. There were so many beautiful elements in the house. We were warned there might be limited head room in the second bedroom for tall teenagers, but it still worked as they were only there to sleep. Seashell Cottage was in a great location- beside the amenities in the village, a short walk to the beach, and a short drive to many other beautiful locations. Parking can be challenging for unpacking/ packing the car on arrival and departure, but there is a good, free car park not too far away. We would not hesitate in recommending Seashell Cottage. We will be back.

“PET FRIENDLY COTTAGE IN LOVELY LOCATION”

Lovely pet friendly cottage in great location. Cottage has everything you will need and more for a break away. Very clean and well maintained. Lots of small villages to visit just a short drive away and not too far from St Andrews. Lower Largo itself is a lovely little village with a friendly pub and shop just steps away. Only small drawback for us was that the garden is not attached to the house which would have been better for the dog. We ate in the Upper Largo Hotel bar which was very nice and dog friendly. We also found that dogs were welcome in the Byre Theatre, St Andrews which was really nice for lunch.

How do damage deposits work?
