Description from owner

Description

Saddlery cottage sits in two acres of stunning landscaped private gardens. It is a detached stone built cottage with private parking, patio, garden furniture and BBQ. Its south facing aspect makes it a sun-trap and a most relaxing place to sit and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding enclosed gardens, the open countryside and the Eildon Hills. The cottage, which is pet friendly and welcomes up to two well behaved dogs, features beamed ceilings in all the main rooms and has been equipped and furnished to a very high standard to ensure guests enjoy a home from home. It is fully centrally heated and doubled glazed for comfort in all seasons. It has been graded by VisitScotland as a Four Star property for 2012/13. Saddlery has all the character of an original Victorian cottage but with every possible modern facility from a dishwasher to free WiFi. Its truly stunning setting makes it an excellent base for exploring the many pleasures of The Borders including golf, walking, fishing and rich heritage of historic houses and gardens.

The Saddlery is ideally located for easy access to Melrose either on foot or by car. Melrose is steeped in history and offers an splendid range of bespoke shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs all serving excellent food. In summer the town of Melrose, which is a former winner of "Scotland in Bloom" competition, is bedecked with hanging baskets. It is rightly the tourist centre of The Borders and not for nothing is it known as "The Gem of Scotland".

“Fantastic Easter Break”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2018

My partner and I stayed at this wonderful cottage for a week with our 2 dogs. It is very homely with all you could ask for. Although the weather was mostly terrible we still ventured out for some fantastic dog walks, and settle in for the evenings and do lots of cooking in the very spacious kitchen. I had some family join us for 2 nights over the weekend and they loved it as well. We even brought home some fresh eggs home from the hens on farm. We will definitely look at going back again. Thanks to Claire & Donald for a wonderful week.
