IF YOU ARE INTERESTED SEARCH "EPICUREAN CLERK" to find it listed elsewhere.

Epicurean Clerk is 150 years old but has all the modern conveniences while retaining all the original features. It was my family home for 11 years so hopefully its look and feel reflect this. It is a extremely large for Edinburgh standards and part of a traditional building which is very central. It is full of charm and retains many original features such as 5 fireplaces, high ceilings, wood floors, hearth in the kitchen, elaborate cornices, working shutters, door bell above main door and even a small bit of the original wall paintings/stencils that were once fashionable in the capital! It is an unusually large flat which makes for a comfortable stay. There are 4 bedrooms (2 with double loft beds). It has recently been refurbished and has a modern kitchen with many appliances, (there is NOT a tumble dryer but instead a traditional drying rack on a pully system). A modern bathroom. The bedding is very comfortable as well with nice mattresses, great new pillows and comfy duvets. It is in the center of Edinburgh so all of the tourist attractions are a short walk and the country side is just minutes away. The flat is on a main road so catching a bus to anywhere in the city is straight forward. And because it is so central all of the urban conveniences are very close by. Within 2 blocks from the flat there are convenient marts and many restaurants to choose from; Turkish, Indian, Thai, Argentinian, Chinese, Italian, sandwich bars, Metropole Cafe, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, many pubs and bars, a vintage record shop, a vintage clothing shop (Armstrongs), Queens Hall concert venue, Jan de Vries health store, pharmacy, banks (meaning 2 ATMs very close), Blockbuster, plus much more. The neighborhood is beautiful, surrounded by the meadows and Holyrood park and is very laid back in nature.

“Your search is over”

Reviewed 14 May 2013

If you like the photos, you'll love the place. Fun, comfy, private, clean, quiet, everything you need and plenty more you hadn't thought of. Books, games, art, brilliantly equipped kitchen. The kids' rooms are a delight. Our daughter spent the first hour lost in hers reading books (her favourite was the one about the farting dog) and didn't have to be asked to climb up into the 'cloud' at bedtime. Pub serving moules et frites and live music directly across the road. Within 30m a good deli and a triathlon shop that makes excellent coffee (better than the deli). 10 min brisk walk to The Royal Mile or catch the bus out front. We feel cool just for having stayed there.

“Extravagant space, warmly furnished, in the rocking midst of Edinburgh.”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2013

The flat is spacious; four of us (married couple, daughter, mother-in-law) were not able to use all the bedrooms! It was turnkey usable, and apart from the 50 stone steps up from street level, we loved every minute of it! Edinburgh at Clerk Street is a busy, vibrant place, and the flat was perfect for our visit.

“Exceeded expectations, a superb place to stay.”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2013

We stayed at Epicurean Clerk on a visit to Edinburgh with extended family members in June 2012. The welcome and facilities were exceptional. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and furnished with beautiful objects which adds to the charm and uniqueness of this apartment. Well located for visiting Edinburgh.

“It's Edinburgh -- don't stay in, but if you do, stay here”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2013

Superb flat within walking distance of the Royal Mile, with easy access to highways, railways, good restaurants and pubs. Everything is in working order; there are no quirks. The place is clean, but not austere. We spent most of our time on the road, but if you want to spend a night in, the kitchen and living/dining rooms are enormous and welcoming. It felt like staying at a close friend's place.

“P-E-R-F-E-C-T!”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2013

This large flat has anything you need, including a baby grand piano. Lots of room to spread out, lovely and comfortable accommodations including a full kitchen and it is located in the center of everything. We mostly walked to the places like the Royal Mile, the Castle, etc. but there is also a bus line right on the street in front of the flat, which we used to explore outlining areas. Arthur's Seat is a refreshing nearby hike and offers stunning views of the area. I highly recommend staying at Epicurean Clerk.
