Description from owner

Description

This delightful property offers its guests the perfect setting to experience the 'jewel' which is the small market town of Newton Stewart in the heart of the magnificent Galloway Hills, an which offers breathtaking sights and a wonderful range of activities available to all who visit.

The property itself is host to a peaceful ambience and provides a spectacular view overlooking the Brewery Pool on the river Cree. The Brewery Pool is home to an array of wildlife which includes, salmon, ducks, swans, heron and is often occupied by eager fisherman.

Regular refurbishment ensures a fresh appearance to the house that has been available to rent from April 2013. There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin. There is a box room for storage or it can be used as a room for a child on a floor mattress if family of 5 wanted to stay and were happy with that arrangement.

There is a fully fitted kitchen with washing machine, fridge, hob and oven and a dishwasher. The property is fully central heated and has ample ventilation for the summer months. The lounge opens through patio doors onto a balcony where you can while away the day overlooking the river Cree and be entertained by the wildlife, experiencing the gentle and serene atmosphere.

We can't wait to welcome our guests to what we believe to be the perfect location to experience the best of what Dumfries and Galloway has to offer.

As a result of Coronavirus we introduced measures to keep our housekeepers and guests safe. This included the removal of soft furnishings and non essential kitchen utensils and not having a welcome pack on your arrival. We also had later arrival and earlier departure times.

We are pleased to say that we are currently operating as we did pre pandemic but will remain vigilant and will resort to safety measures as recimmended by Public Health Scotland.

Reviewed 6 Nov 2021

Me and my fiancé stayed in this property for our first time to Scotland. Inside was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Off the living room is a lovely balcony for two where you can see the river and lots of countryside. Location is perfect with everything you need close by. The Galloway forest is a 10 min drive. Will definitely be returning.

“Barley Cottage overlooking river Cree”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2020

We had an Autumn break in this comfortable, modern, fresh property. Location is good, within walking distance from local shops and supermarkets, yet steeped in nature at the rear of the cottage with the relaxing sound and sight of the river flowing by. A good base for walks, dark sky forests, botanical gardens and trips to the coast. The property was spotlessly clean, well maintained, with very up to date decoration and furnishings. We enjoyed our stay very much.
