Description

Casa del' Orto (House of the Orchard) sits within a vineyard which produces 800 litres of wine per annum. The area is rich in wildlife, with roe deer, eagles and badgers all visitors to the land around the house.

The house has been restored by local craftsmen and suppliers, and where possible local materials were used.

The original part of the house dates from c. 1750 and stands on the footings of the original gatehouse to the 12th century Medici castle which is located just 100m from the house.

A full set of walking maps plus a cycling guide to the Garfagnana is available for use, plus an information pack is provided listing all the local restaurants and pizzerias.

The kitchen is the heart of a holiday in Italy, and with this in mind our fully-fitted kitchen has all the latest appliances. There are two bathrooms, both with fabulous walk-in showers, bath, toilet, bidet and sink.

There are three bedrooms - one master bedroom with a king size bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers, one double bedroom with a wardrobe and one twin bedroom with a chest of drawers.

There is also a comfortable living room with a sofa which converts to a double bed, and a dining room for eight with stunning views over the valley.

Outside the house there is a table and six chairs under a pergola, which is perfect for alfresco dining.

The small river bordering the property is a perfect place to paddle one's feet in the warm weather and the river bank is an ideal spot for a picnic.

Response from the owner We are very happy that you enjoyed our house and it's beautiful surrounds. And we are devastated that the house was not cleaned when you got there. We have changed our local management team and have had much greater success with them. They also inform me of the levels of gas too now so that should not happen.
