Description

Oak Noggin Bed & Breakfast is situated in the rolling hills of Southwestern PA, just south of Pittsburgh. Guests can enjoy this private and historically original Early American log house uniquely to themselves.

Our log cabin was reconstructed in the year 2000 from two original 200 year-old frontier homes, and provides all modern necessities. The name, Oak Noggin, refers to the materials used for the construction of the house - the logs themselves are hewn from White Oak and "noggin" is the term for the "filling" between the logs. The inn is nestled on nearly two acres and situated high on a hill overlooking a picturesque view of the rolling hills of western Pennsylvania.

It's been a creative endeavor of ours to provide the guest a bed & breakfast that features antique and hand-crafted furnishings. There are two wood burning fireplaces. The massive stone hearth in the keeping room and the smaller fireplace in the master bedroom adds to the comfort, charm, and warm hospitality of a "home away from home," with secluded intimacy than can only be experienced at a private rental. Relax with a glass of wine and good conversation in front of a crackling fire in the hearth. Unwind and rejuvenate body and soul while soaking in a long bath in the cast iron clawfoot tub. When you are ready to turn in for the night, settle under the hand-made quilts in the 1858 rope bed and enjoy a peaceful, quiet night's slumber. A sumptuous home-cooked full breakfast is uniquely prepared and delivered to the log house in a basket in the morning.

The delicious smells will ignite your appetite and get you started on your enjoyable day ahead. If weather permits, you are welcome to eat outside on either the front or back porches, and delight in the landscape of perennial and annual flower gardens.

We welcome you to visit our bed & breakfast. Enjoy the exceptional comforts of an unique Early American surrounding only a log house can provide. It is a truly remarkable setting. As innkeepers, we want your stay to be enjoyable and a memorable experience.
