Description

Keeper's Cottage is a dog-friendly self-catering holiday cottage with Wi-Fi in the Scottish Borders situated in the former stables at Wedderburn Castle, close to Duns. It is within easy driving distance of a number of historical towns and sites including Berwick-upon-Tweed, Edinburgh, Holy Island, Alnwick Castle, Floors Castle, Mellerstain, Manderston, Chillingham Castle and many of the Borders abbeys.

Other nearby attractions in the area include stunning beaches such as Coldingham and Bamburgh, fishing on the Tweed and Whiteadder and golf on a selection of local courses, as well as a wide variety of rural walks and cycle rides around local natural beauty spots. There is also a golf driving range and children's soft play area within easy walking distance.

The cottage has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a sitting room with sofa bed and a spacious, well-equipped kitchen with farmhouse-style kitchen table with seating for 8.

The sitting room has a smart TV and log-burning stove.

The first bedroom is a double and the second bedroom can be used as a double or a twin.

Keeper's Cottage has been designed to combine historic elements of the property with modern comforts.

We like to leave people to enjoy their holidays in peace and get away from it all. For that reason we don't tend to bother you during your stay. However we are generally around to answer any queries you might have or offer any assistance needed – or leave a manager in place if we are away. We send an extensive information pack in advance of your stay and have guest information files at the properties. We are always at the end of a phone line or an email if you have any more specific requests as well. Self check-in and check-out are possible if you wish to arrive very late at night or leave early in the morning.

“Lovely stay”

Stayed at the keepers cottage over the weekend for a family party in the area. It was quiet and relaxing. The cottage was also warm with a wood burning stove available if required.

“Peaceful and authentic”

We stayed as a family for a few days in Keepers Cottage which is part of the old stable block of a Manor House. It was like stepping into the Game keeper cottage as he'd just popped out -Very peaceful and period features like the Kitchen Range and cast Iron Bath added an authentic touch. Having said that it was very comfortable with all the modern conveniences you would expect. A small point the sofa bed/ Settee were a bit uncomfortable which didn't seem in keeping with the otherwise excellent attention to detail.
