Description
The West Lodge is a recently-renovated self-catering holiday cottage in the Scottish Borders. Thought to originally date from around 1820 the lodge combines historic charm with modern comforts and stylish decoration. The West Lodge holiday rental offers the privacy and quiet of the countryside, along with the convenience of being close to the pretty market town of Duns.
The West Lodge is also situated within easy driving distance of a number of historical towns and sites including Berwick-upon-Tweed, Edinburgh, Holy Island, Alnwick Castle, Floors Castle, Mellerstain, Manderston, Chillingham Castle and many of the Borders abbeys.
Other nearby attractions in the area include stunning beaches such as Coldingham and Bamburgh, fishing on the Tweed and Whiteadder, a choice of marked cycle routes and golf on a selection of local courses. There is also a golf driving range and children's soft play area within easy walking distance.

The West Lodge has a stunning double-height kitchen and sitting area, located in the oldest part of the building and complete with original wooden beams and an oversized dressed stone fireplace with wood-burning stove.
The kitchen offers a spacious cooking area and is prefect for family meals around the pine dining table. The seating area has a number of comfortable sofas and chairs positioned around the fireplace. There is also a flat-screen television with digital channels and a DVD player.
The adjacent glazed sunroom looks across the surrounding lawns and woodland. This space is perfect for reading and relaxing and leads to the newly-created bedroom wing of the West Lodge. In the bedroom wing there are two double bedrooms – both with king-sized beds – and one bedroom with twin beds. All of the bedrooms and the three bathrooms are decorated in a contemporary style and appointed to the highest standard.

The West Lodge is situated at the West Gate of the grounds of Wedderburn Castle. It is surrounded by formal parkland, private driveways and woodland offering attractive walks and views of the Cheviot hills.
The lodge has a private lawn with garden furniture, making it the perfect spot to relax in the sunshine or have a BBQ in summer.
There is parking for the lodge directly outside which is suitable for several cars.

“High Quality and Peaceful Location”
We really enjoyed our short break, the lodge was lovely and our 4 year old is now missing his twice daily walk around the Estate.
