Description
In amongst the Cretan countryside you will find this cozy new house with 2 bedrooms, 3 (!) air-conditioners, SMART-TV, full equipped kitchen. It is full of traditional Greek character with handpainted pictures and a lot of books on different languages.
This property has EOT licence (Ellinikos Organismos Tourismou) issued by the Greek National Tourist Organisation.
This licence confirms that the property is safe and meets the exacting standards of the Greek Tourist board.
There are 2 bedrooms in the house (one is the open space bedroom with 2 single beds on the second floor), 3 air-conditioners, kitchen with all the appliances (cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, washing machine), bathroom/shower, lounge area with TV set (SMART) and Wi-Fi hot spot, which consists of a sofa which can be converted into a bed. Here you will find a lot of information about different places of interest, maps of the area and books in English, German and French. Fresh fruits and other local products such as honey, wine, ouzo and olive oil are for free. Bed linen, towels, a cot, high chair, iron, ironing-board, hair-drier are provided. All the windows and doors in the house are double glazed with fly screens. There is spacious stone paved yard. At the bottom of the yard there is a pergola, table and chairs. Outside of the house there is a parking area.
The neighbourhood is very pretty with areas to walk and cycle in the middle of the countryside.
It is a short walk to the local baker, local butcher, super market, restaurants, coffee shops, petrol station, chemist and a lot more shops.
Maleme village is an ideal starting point for excursions and for acquaintance with the rich fauna and flora of island and the innumerable historical and prehistoric monuments:
- The village is only 17 km far from Chania city with the most picturesque old town in Crete and its Venetian harbour.
- It is next to Platanias which is the most touristic village of Chania region;
- Maleme village is an excellent base for daily escapes to the western Crete - Elafonisi beach where the sand is pink and white and the water is clear and shallow, Samaria Gorge (the biggest gorge in Europe), Gramvousa Island and Balos lagoon, Paleochora village, Falassarna beach and ancient city, Aptera ancient city, Kournas Lake;
- It is worth mentioning one particular place of interest which is ideal for visitors of all ages – Botanical park and Gardens of Crete (Fournes, 18th km from Chania ,Fournes,Omalos) the only one of its kind in Europe: on nearly 20 hectares of land you will find fruit trees from all over the world, herbs, medicinal and ornamental plants.
The distance to the bustling village of Platanias is approximately 5 minutes, to Chania, the port of Souda and Chania airport is 15, 25 and 40 minutes.
There is bus line between Chania & Maleme. The bus stop is only 10 min walk from the house.

“A good place close to the beach”
You will find everything what you need for a nice stay. A well equipped house, beach in 500m, restaurants around. The whole west part of Crete is accessible in 1-1.5h by car.
