Description from owner

Description

A beautiful beach location over looking the Firth of Forth and Edinburgh

The Cottage is ideally located in the holiday seaside town of Burntisland with a long history as a summer holiday destination. The award winning beach is located to just meters away from the property overlooking the Firth of Forth and across to the City of Edinburgh with it's famous festivals and Tattoo. It's a constant moving picture, with a variety of sea bird, merchant ships of all sizes and cruise ships.

It is perfect for relaxing, being close to the sea, walking the Fife Coastal way, sea fishing from the wall and exploring the many rock pools with the children within view of the terrace. There is a modern indoor pool within walking distance at the Leisure Centre, the links park has a perfect play park all within safe walking distance and well away from the cars.

Burntisland is an excellent destination for all with a traditional high street with a good butcher, fish monger, ice cream parlour and a variety of cafes.

The summer includes a fairground in July and Lifeguards patrol the beach during the peak summer season. (Don't forget booking the Edinburgh Tattoo)

The accommodation consists of a comfortable lounge with a door which leads out to an undercover veranda and faces south, which is ideal for having your breakfast or sundowner drinks in the evening., a twin master bedroom downstairs and a twin balcony room accessed by a spiral staircase with restrictive headroom, but with good views from the large sized velds windows.

There is parking for two cars (height restriction due to railway tunnel prevents large roof racks) to the private property.

Easy walking to the Sands Hotel just approximately 2 minutes away.

The cottage is ideal for Golfers who want to play the courses in the Kingdom of Fife, known as the 'home of Golf'. Look up the Fife Passport which is great value.

We are more than happy to accept a dog as the Fife Coastal Walk runs along the side of the Cottage, perfect access to walk the dog to the beach and the town. Fife Council declare that the beach is safe and clean.

Burntisland high street is an easy eight minute flat walk, where there is a good selection of village shops, two small supermarkets, post office and Banks.

The location is ideal to visit the famous City of Edinburgh either by Train, Bus or Car with all the delights of the Scottish Capital at your disposal.

Response from the owner I am delighted to announce we have gone through a major change with a new cleaning company. There are many houses that are near wthe railway line however I do not consider this to be a major issue as we have been renting the cottage successfully over the past 14 years with a hand full of regulars who come every year. I take on board the galley facilities and a new couch is imminent.Thank you for your comments.

Response from the owner Hello Karyn, thank you so much for this review, it sounds as if your stay included the indoor pool facilities at the leisure centre, you obviously weren’t tempted to use the life guard’s safe area of the beach to take a dip. Having good weather during your stay obviously helps, not always the case, glad you had a nice break, hopefully we will see you again next year. Kind regards Cliff

Response from the owner Thank you for your comments, as discussed at length with you, the cottage is a grade 2 listed Victorian Villa, with a planned maintenance programme each year. The property was not dirty, the windows did require decorating in order for our cleaner to be able to clean them to a good standard, they were due to be painted during the fitting of the new laminate flooring throughout the dining, kitchen and bathroom, which was done 3 days before your arrival, however the painting could not be done. I do feal that your comments were harsh, however, your early departure whilst surprising has given us the opportunity to rectify the areas you identified. The cottage I believe is well represented by the pictures on the website which clearly shows the access to the 2nd bedroom and the limited standing room. I am disappointed that you were not wowed by the location and wonderful views and spent your time inspecting and criticising a much-loved family home internally.

“Rest and Relaxation”

Reviewed 28 May 2023

We booked this place more for its view across the Firth of Forth towards Edinburgh. It was wonderful sitting on the patio area looking towards Edinburgh and watching the tide ebb and flow. Seabirds were plentifully. Nice walks and Friendly people. The Sands Hotel was close by for a couple of meals. Be aware the trains run close by and are frequent, but not all night. Property was OK, needs a little TLC. Upstairs (via a spiral staircase) is really only for little people!

Response from the owner Many thanks for your review Robert, very glad you enjoyed your holiday with us taking in the views and enjoying the veranda, I completely agree with your comments, we are one of just a few properties that is on the beach with the railway line behind us, and the restricted head room upstairs cannot be lifted as it is a grade 2 listed building, however, I hope the pictures on the website reflect this. It has been our families holiday cottage for years and we are constantly upgrading to enhance the property. Thank you so much for staying with us and hope we may see you again. Kindest regards Cliff
