Description from owner

Description

The cottage dates back to the 1800's where it was a shepherds cottage. We have still maintained the wooden walls and the huge open fire. The cottage is well equipped to provide 'Home from Home' and is an excellent base to explore from. We are a short drive from the coast and well positioned between the ports to go and explore the Islands. The estate hire out canoes, rowing boats and bicycles. We also can arrange wild brown trout fishing in the hill lochs and course fishing on Loch Ederline. The local area is steeped in history and archaeological sites. There are many local attractions and activities including horse riding, sea trips, museums, jails ,golf courses, mountain biking, walking and bird watching to name just a few.

Further details

The cottage is let out on a weekly basis from a Friday 4.00pm till Friday 10.00am

We do accept short lets out of high season but a minimum of three days.

We would need a £60 deposit to secure the booking with the balance paid six weeks before the guests arrived.

We provide all linen/towels/tea towels and logs for the open fire.

if there were any breakages we would hope some money would be left to cover it.

Electricity is metered and charged at cost at the end of your stay.

We do ask if the cottage can be left as clean and tidy as found.

Further details indoors

The entrance to Finchairn Cottage is through the conservatory which has soft seating and a dining table and chairs as the view an amazing back drop for dining. You enter the indoor porch through two glazed doors, on the left is a large twin room and to the right is the sitting room. This also has a dining table and chairs and soft seating gathered around the open fire. The kitchen is well equipped with all that you will need, it has a new ceramic hob and cooker. The shower room is downstairs with walk in shower, wash hand basin and loo. The washing machine/tumble dryer is positioned in the corner of this room with a table above. The stairs lead up to a landing with two rooms leading off. To the left in a twin and to the right a double bedded room. The views from these rooms are also stunning and look down the back of the cottage to Loch Awe. The cottage has 'Total Control' electric heating and all the beds have new electric blankets.

Further details outdoors

The garden is fenced to keep out the sheep but the deer still jump in, so hence no borders of shrubs for them to feed on! The access to the cottage is up a half mile gated track and parking is available beside the cottage. There is a log shed to the back of the cottage with a clothes line as well. This cottage is remote but a tonic to be consumed regardless of season.

Response from the owner It is a big boost when guests have time to review our properties. We were thrilled you had a good week and I hope you enjoyed the new bathroom. We will look at the chimney and check there is no problem. When the lets are not back to back it sometimes takes a while for the chimney to warm up which then helps the draw. Many thanks for your comments. Review's makes it all worth while!!
