The Town Lake Home is a cozy Spanish-style house, surrounded by a beautiful tree-filled lot, including 2 large pecan trees. If you are here for business, meditation, or fun, our house has the perfect vibe.
Conveniently located in a peaceful and quiet neighborhood, just 5 minutes away from the historic, entertainment and business district, the town lake home offers easy access to festivals, activities and businesses. East Austin, our neighborhood, has just ranked at number 7 on Forbes’ hippest hipster neighborhood of America list.
Amenities: the town lake home is well-appointed and bathed with soothing natural light. Many of the windows have views of the trees and all are dressed with shades to provide your preferred level of darkness. Newly renovated, modernly furnished, and cleaned to the utmost detail, it comfortably sleeps 5 people.
Living room is embraced by an inviting suede sectional couch and a HDTV with cable.
Dining room with decorative fireplace seats 6 in a beautiful black and cherry wooden table. Mats, tablecloth, cloth napkins, glassware, both porcelain and non-breakable tableware, are provided for your formal or informal dinning experience.
The kitchen is fully equipped for your convenience. It has a gas stove, microwave, fridge, blender, electric beater, toaster, coffee grinder, coffee machine, french press, tea kettle, chef knives, Rachel ray pots and pans, bake ware, preparing utensils, serving utensils and bowls. Samples of organic spices, organic extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, CAF and decaf organic coffee beans and tea bags, sugar and sweetener are provided. Dish towels, drying rack, drying mat, paper towels and dish soap are included.
Both bedrooms have king size beds with ergonomic mattresses, luxurious sheets – 600 count Egyptian cotton – and many pillows. Both bedroom have HDTV/cable and the master bedroom has surround sound.
Laundry: the washer and drier are located in the kitchen with perfume and dye free detergent available.
Study: the relaxing euro lounger in the study provides an excellent reading nook. It lays flat to a full size bed. In addition, the study is furnished with a desk, an ergonomic chair, a flat computer screen and wireless keyboard and mouse that you can connect to your laptop. A printer/fax machine is available and some printer paper is provided, along with a phone through which you can make free local and long distance calls. With high speed wifi, you can easily work in this stress-free environment.
Bathroom: plush soft towels, basic toiletries (small samples of soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and toilet paper),basic first aid kit and hair dryer accompany our cute and sanitized bathroom.
Child friendly equipment is provided upon request at registration. Child plate settings and silverware are also included.
Handicap accessibility: typically, Spanish style homes have one floor but asymmetrical level plans, creating one or two steps in between some of the quarters. Keep that in mind if you are bringing small children or mobility-challenged guests.
Outdoor space and parking: a wood pellet smoker-grill and an inviting patio dinning set provides the perfect opportunity for some Texas style BBQ or just some relaxation under the trees. Our lot is fenced and gated and you may park inside or on the street right in front of our property.
Shopping: with local groceries stores, farmer’s market, health food store such as whole foods just minutes away, you could very well take advantage of our well-equipped kitchen. Close to 2nd street district, 7-15 minutes from Barton Creek Square Mall and the domain. 40 min drive to San Marcos premium outlet, hosting 140 stores.
Nightlife: the town lake home is a hop away from all that Austin has to offer for your nightlife. From the historic 6th street, the new upcoming Rainey street, the upscale warehouse district, to our own east Austin neighborhood nightlife, you will find bars, dance clubs, comedy clubs and live theaters to satisfy any taste. And, of course, as Austin is the “live music capital of world,” there is plenty of live music!

Response from the owner Dear guest, I’m glad you enjoyed our comfy beds, TVs, special treats, location and the many other amenities that our home offers. We do our very best to offer our guests a cozy stay that truly feels like home with all its warmth and loving care. I am disappointed that you didn’t have the experience that we aim for all our guests as confirmed by the many great reviews here and dozens more in other sites in which we list our home. Let me address a few of your items. As you said, it was raining and dark. The wind probably blew the gate open. The elements will throw leaves and sticks around, we cannot possibly come tidy up the outside in the middle of a storm. Yes, there are cats in our neighborhood, it is unreasonable to think that we could stop them from entering our yard. Bugs….this is spring in Austin, Texas, our home is only two blocks away from the lake, bugs will be in the grounds all over Austin especially by the lake, we just can’t fight nature. Our home has many beautiful trees, and fortunately they have been very happy with all the unusual rain we have gotten in Austin this year. They are indeed grown, full and beautiful. FYI, trees should never be pruned in the spring in order to avoid disease. You should not have been surprised at all about our check out procedure which includes starting a load of towels – this was explicitly listed in our contract that you accepted upon booking. Starting a load of laundry is a common practice among vacation rentals. Also in the same said contract were the rules posted throughout the house: NO SMOKING and no noise outside during certain hours as per City of Austin ordinance. We have to post these rules in all rooms as the others guests that didn’t go through the booking process might not have been made aware of them. Also the City of Austin demands the noise and assembly rules be posted in plain sight. Refundable damage deposit: we don’t see it or hold it, Trip Advisor does. According to the rules stated in their website, they will return it within 10 days of the check out date, we have no control over that. I feel our home is lovingly taken care of, but it is not a brand new construction as clearly shown in the pictures (such as the bathroom). It is clean, cozy, with lots of loving touches and character, and well priced. If you are looking for a cookie cutter and controlled environment, no fresh air or nature, a lot less space for the money, not a place to call your own, a hotel might be a better choice for you.
