“Awesome Rooftop Condo in Perfect Playa location!”

Reviewed 7 Dec 2014

I had rented a condo one other time in Playa and I have to say the one thing that made this rental better was the personal response of the owner himself. Not only was the condo a great place but the owner made sure that the rental process was just as great. Ron was extremely helpful and supplied us with everything we needed to have the very best vacation experience. I would definitely rent Casa Dorothea again! The location of the condo is in the heart of Playa. Within walking distance to so many places including the Mega grocery store and Walmart. We had a private rooftop which is another huge asset. An awesome experience all around!

“Great apartment near to the 5th Ave!!”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2014

I traveled with 3 friends and the apartment's location couldn't be better. Just half block away from Cocobongo (best party club in Playa), a block away from the 5th Ave and two and a half blocks away from the beach, what else could you ask for in Playa? The department is very comfortable with kitchen, a little dining table, living room with TV, a balcony with pool view, and even washing machine and dryer! Two bedrooms and two bathrooms with really nice decoration. We had it all: beach towels, glasses, dishes, there were sodas and beers in the fridge when we arrived! =D We also had a private roof terrace with cold water jacuzzi and very nice space to hang out. The building has a shared pool for all the condos with a nice waterfall. Another plus is that you have a parking space which was very helpful since we rent a car. The attention from Ron & Crystal, owners of the apartment, was great from the moment of the reservation up to our return to Guadalajara. You can't ask for more for a perfect vacation! We will definitely come back to Casa Dorothea! Thanks Ron & Crystal!!

“Home away from home”

Reviewed 27 May 2014

For me, this was a return trip to Casa Dorothea, which is a place for me to escape to and relax. The penthouse itself is very clean and comfortable. The rooftop terrace is an added bonus, but I also enjoyed sitting out on the balcony listening to the water from the pool area.. Although the complex is situated close to everything, it is very quiet and secure. As a solo traveler I have always felt very safe there and the staff of Vimex are always on hand to help you if needed. It is easy to walk to anything that you may need, and the ADO bus station is only a few minutes walk away if you wish to travel further afield. I would not hesitate to recommend a vacation at Casa Dorothea , and I hope to return soon.

“Our vacation at CasaDorothea was tranquail & blissfull.”

We have stayed at Casa Dorothea for the 3rd time. If you not had the experience you surely don't know what you are missing..The welcome that you get from Vimex personnel that greets you is warm and very helpful in anything you need. I have met both Syvia & Jan beautiful people. Ron & Crystal the owners, I can't say enough about. I have met this couple about 10 years ago through my neighbors and instantly became friends and set up our first trip with our neighbors, the second and third time at Casa Dorothea get better each time we go. The condo is super in every way, I don't think there is not an imenty one would not want except perhaps in house cook, but then the reason we go is to experience PDC in its true capacity. The hospitility that is shown by Ron & Crystal one would not want more. They truly go out of their way to make you comfortable. My husband and I took the USa Transfer service this time that they suggested and boy I will tell you no more bus ride for us. When we arrived and greeted by personnel it was nice to slip those shoes off and have a can of Sole which was so nicely provided. I was very pleased with the USa calling that Ron & Crystal provides, keeping in touch with family is important. We kept up with our local newspaper through the internet that is provided. Jan from Vimex even printed out our boarding passes on our return home. Ron & Crystal always share with us different resturants to eat which are very good and reasonable. (Mannie's & Moms's) Who would not enjoy getting up in the morning to the beautiful sunshine and birds chirping and drinking your coffee either on the roof top or balcony, then heading to the beach at 9:00am stay until 2:00 pm go back to the condo for a afternoon nap then onto supper, 10 full days of this why can't this last forever. If one could sum this all up it would be thank you and you don't want to miss this location and receive wonderful treatment for a king.

“Great condo in a great location in a great town.”

Reviewed 14 Mar 2014

In February, we returned for our third visit to Casa Dorothea. We stayed for the entire month and it was, once again, a memorable vacation. The condo is centrally located, very comfortable and well-managed by ViMex. The owners, Ron and Crystal, are wonderful hosts. The condo is well-designed and furnished and the roof-top deck with its view, soaking pool, outdoor kitchen, bathroom and shower is icing on the cake. The deck is a great place to work on your tan in privacy. Casa Dorothea is 4 blocks from the beach and 2 blocks from Playa's Quinta avenida (5th avenue) with many shops, restaurants and bars. It is a great place for shopping and people-watching. For those wanting to experience more of the local flavor of the town and to do their own cooking, the condo is only a few blocks from Mega grocery store, DaC (excellent local produce and meats), and our new favorite place, Sapore de Casa, a great Italian deli. We love to experiment with Mexican cuisine and the kitchen in Casa Dorothea got a fair amount of use. Last year when we visited Playa we saw Jacques Pepin, the world-renowned chef, in Mega one Sunday. This year, we met him coming home from breakfast and talked to him. Truly a treat for us! Playa is a great town for walking whether on Quinta avenida or in the more central parts of town and is very safe. The condo is a block away from the "uptown" bus station and taxis are ubiquitous and fairly priced. You won't need a car to enjoy Playa. Playa is central to some great beaches, snorkeling areas, and interesting Mayan archaeological sites and most are easy to get to by bus or taxi. It's great having Casa Dorothea to come home to at the end of the day after enjoying all that this area has to offer. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

“Almost like home”

Reviewed 4 Feb 2014

We had never been to Playa or the Yucatan for that matter and had no idea to expect. Ron was very hospitable; I felt so taken care of. He explained in detail before we got there how to get to his condo from the airport. We also got a list of places to eat and visit in the area. The condo itself was clean and fully stocked with fruit and clean water and everything we needed to make our meals there. It has a nice balcony to sit and and rooftop deck. I also liked the security of the building. It's in a great location near all the shops and restaurants and walking distance to the beach and transportation to the tourist sites, including the ferry to Cozumel. I was very pleased Casa Dorothea.

“Memorable Honeymoon”

Reviewed 9 Nov 2013

I can start by saying it was absolutely the best and coolest vacation we've ever experienced!! The highlight for us was the Mayan tours of Tulum and Coba; we even climbed to the top (a bit of a struggle for the wife, she got halfway with me and had to go back down, then 15min later she pushed herself through it!) and got some incredible pictures of the canopy...breathtaking. Attached a pic! The condo was everything we could have hoped for, and the Coronas sitting in the fridge were an excellent touch - perfect after the traveling! It actually rained consistently all but one day we were there, but it really didn't prevent us from doing what we wanted and having a good time - in fact, the one hot day was so humid and sticky, we found ourselves appreciating the rain... also attached are the two souvenirs we brought back; the first is a mayan sculpture from real mayans, and the second is a tequila bottle with our pictures on it! Our favorite place to eat (can't recall the name right now) was the jungle-themed place you recommended in your document...brilliant sandwiches. Thank you so much for making our honeymoon so memorable, everything was simply amazing. Your willingness to communicate so openly and sharing such useful information with us was so professional and personal and made everything simple and easy... you wouldn't find that in any major chain stays :) Hope to return soon!!

“Great condo, great location, great town!!”

This February, we returned for our second visit to Casa Dorothea and stayed for the entire month of February. It was a memorable vacation. Casa Dorothea is centrally located, very comfortable and well-managed by ViMex. The owners, Ron and Crystal, are wonderful hosts. We met them for morning coffee and they gave us lots of tips on things to do, places to eat, and things to see. Very valuable information, because Playa can be a bit overwhelming with so much to see and do. The condo is well-designed and furnished, and the roof-top deck with soaking pool, outdoor kitchen, bathroom and shower is a real treat. It was warm enough in February to enjoy the pool almost every day. It's a great place to work on your tan in privacy. Casa Dorothea's location was perfect for our needs - 4 blocks from the beach, 2 blocks from Playa's 5th avenue with its shops, restaurants and bars and, for those who want to experience a different side of Playa del Carmen, only a few blocks from some excellent grocery stores (Mega for meats, liquid refreshments, etc., and DaC for local produce) and interesting, off-the-beaten-path, eating places. We love to experiment with Mexican cuisine and the kitchen in Casa Dorothea got a fair amount of use during our stay. One highlight of our trip was seeing Jacques Pepin, the world-renowned chef, in Mega one Sunday. You won't need to rent a car in Playa. Public transportation and taxis are excellent and inexpensive and it is a great town for bicycling and walking. The condo is a block away from one of Playa's bus stations and taxis are ubiquitous. Playa is central to some great beaches, snorkeling areas, and interesting Mayan archaeological sites. It's great having Casa Dorothea to come home to at the end of the day after enjoying all that Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya have to offer. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

“Great place to stay for the end of the world!”

Reviewed 14 Jan 2013

Me and my family went to PDC for 7 days the week the world was supposed to end. I have to say Ron was the best host I have ever met. We had massive trip issues that were the result of what I lovingly call the Mayan Curse. It started with me being not so smart and having a root canal the day before we left. Note to self don't ever do this again. Ron got us in touch with his personal dentist which worked out perfect. Then I through my back out while carrying my 3 year old and Ron helped us there also. Then my son got a fever. Ron to the rescue. If I would have stayed at an overpriced resort you can bet I would have had a huge bill for extra services. The condo was nice. It's location was perfect and everything seemed to be within walking distance. I would not suggest getting a rental car because the taxi's were affordable and easy to get. I would suggest those that are coming in the winter months to consider the temps at this time of year when in connection with the roof top spa and the pool that is located on the 1st floor. Neither of those are heated however they are super awesome if you go in the summer. The rooms were nice. This place came with a local cell phone and Fast Wireless Internet. The house also has a USa phone number so you can call home or others can call you. I really can't think of anything that was missing in the condo with the exception of a live-in Chef. There was Bottled water, a Washer and Dryer, Fridge, Microwave, A/C, Stove and a wonderful gift basket in the fridge when we arrived. If I had to go to Cancun again Casa Dorthea would be our 1st choice. Just pack your bags and leave your worries at home because this place has everything you needed to have a great family vacation. One last note PDC is an hour closer to Xcarat, Xel-ha, Xplor and Tulum. The pickup for Xcaret and Xel-Ha is 2 blocks from the condo at the Municipal Plaza.

“Wonderful vacation!”

We come from the Netherlands and have spent 14 days in Casa Dorothea: We have really enjoyed it, everything spotless and in close proximity to beach, shops and restaurants. The e-mail contact Ron was great, he gave always immediately answer to any questions. Everything was in the condo present what we needed.Vimex contact is also 2 x to ask of everything was oké.We have many evenings spent on the private rooftop, delicious! It is sure to be repeated, and if we ever going to make another distant travel we will definitely go back to Casa Dorothea. Thanks Ron and Christel for this wonderful vacation!
