“Lovely stay in a perfect villa”
Vassilis is a great host and has built a great property on a lovely location-small and intimate village, quiet and away from noises, short walk down to the beach with some lovely tavernas and the best sunset views on the island of Crete. Well located for the best beaches on the island (20 to 30 min away by car) and all you need in the villa for a relaxed stay-bbq and pool with a kiddie section was perfect with a small child (2 year old). Would def come back and stay again.
Very much enjoyed the villa, Sfinari, and the Western coast of Crete. Villa was delightful, as advertised. Owner was most gracious and helpful, and George, the agent, was similarly extremely responsive in arranging the booking, answering questions prior to the trip, etc. Having the three restaurants five or six minutes by the local beach was great, but we also enjoyed visits to restaurants further away. Our favorite beach was Balos, which we hiked to early in the morning, but Elafonissi was lovely before the buses arrived, and Falassarna was very enjoyable as well. We enjoyed an afternoon/evening trio to the old port in Chania. Had our twenty one year old daughter and seventeen year old son with us and they had a great time as well. Fully recommend Villa Corraliium and look forward to returning in the future.
Response from the manager Dear Elliot, I would like to thank you very much for writing such a descriptive review and for all the nice things you said about us. I hope you had a very nice time at your holidays and i look forward to seeing you again soon. Wish you the best, George
“Lovely location very quite and peaceful”
The accommodation is very good. If you are looking for somewhere to stay which is very quiet and private this is ideal. The swimming pool and villa are well kept to a high standard and very clean. Hiring a car is essential and the local supermarket which has a greater selection is about 20 minutes drive to Kissamos.
Response from the manager Dear Guest, Thank you very much for visiting villa Corallium and for writing such a helpful and nice review about the villa. I hope to see you again sometime. All the best, George
“Relaxing and idyllic retreat”
Beautiful and well set out villa. Infinity pool with fantastic views out to sea and the surrounding peninsula. Great humbling views from the master bedroom. The jacuzzi baths are very relaxing. Vasillis is a charming and pleasant host. We had some delicious stuffed vegetables made by his wife waiting for us on the stove when we arrived. He is very easy to deal with and helpful. We felt very undisturbed on our stay as Sfinari is quite a quiet village. The cleaner came twice a week and was the most thorough cleaner I've ever known. She brought some pretty roses from her garden which was a nice personal touch. I'd recommend buying the local honey and raki in Sfinari when you enter the village from the north. The local supermarkets in Platanos and Kissamos are well stocked, the ones in Sfinari only really sell the basics. It's a great location if you want a good getaway and not a holiday packed with sightseeing as it's about an hour's drive to Chania. However, the agia Sofia cave is well worth a drive to visit and the views of the Toppoli Gorge near there are fantastic. Would also definitely recommend a drive out to the small village of Milia. If it's a nice day an hour's drive south to Elafonisi beach is well recommended. Consider stopping in Kefali for a nice traditional lunch. Some walking of the local mountain paths from the villa give some spectacular views.
Response from the manager Thank you Kevin for such a great and detailed review. I am sure it will help other guests to find easier things around. We're happy you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you back soon. Best, George
“Absolutely Recommend! Incredible Villa in a Beautiful & Quiet Se”
Great villa, location, property management, and amenities. About us: We're an american family living in Europe w/three children, ages 5, 13 & 15. We're seasoned travelers who routinely stay at rental properties, so our review is bracketed against the last 20 or so properties we've stayed at throughout Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. We hope you find this review helpful. The Villa: Very modern, spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked with all essentials to cook and grill. The master bedroom/bathroom (huge Jacuzzi!) was outstanding w/incredible views of the ocean & mountainside. We slept w/the balcony door open & fell asleep to the waves crashing every night. The infinity pool, w/small dipping pool in the front & wrap around deck was perfect to enjoy the sun & relax. We appreciated having wifi, the dishwasher and washing machine. My only critique of the property was that the beds were pretty firm. The Location: @ a 90 mins drive on winding mountainside roads from Souda Bay. Pay attention to the driving directions, as it can a bit challenging the first time. The quaint village of Sfinari is very small country town & reminiscent of times past-w/the market boasting fresh eggs, olive oil & homemade cheeses. Each day were greeted by the local shepard, as his sheep culled the hillsides around the villa. The restaurants along the beach (500m from the villa) were wonderful and the people were very welcoming. The ocean was quite cool, but the waters were crystal clear. Vasillis, the Property Manager was very friendly, helpful and ensured all of our needs were met and questions answered. Highly recommend this for families looking for a relaxing and enjoyable get away.
Response from the manager Thank you Anthony for the great review, we really appreciate your time and we're happy you loved the villa & the location. Hope to see you back soon!
“A dream vacation!”
We came back from our fantastic 10 night stay at Villa Corallium, but left our hearts there.. The villa was everything we have dreamt of and better. The infinity pool, so clean and refreshing and tranquil. The fantastic sunsets, the very well equipped kitchen, the spacious upper floor bedroom with the stunning huge jacuzzi, the beauty of the nature and the so kind hospitality of Vasilis. The villa is remote, quiet and very private, truly a 5 star experience in every way. The west coast of Crete is amazingly beautiful and still not touristic, and we loved Sfinari. The sunset restaurant, just a few mins walk from the villa on the beach, was fantastic! We'll be back, for sure.
“30th Wedding anniversary Vacation”
We decided to celebrate our 30th Wedding anniversary with our family in Sfinari at Villa Corallium having read the previous reviews and seen the photographs. We were not disappointed and had the holiday of a lifetime there! The views are spectacular, especially the evenings when the sun sets over the sea and the "Infinity Pool". We particularly enjoyed barbeques at the Villa as well as visiting the "Sunset Taverna" on the beach (6 minutes walk away). Villa Corallium itself is truly 5*, well maintained and cleaned, and every detail well thought out. The whole west coast of Crete, towns, beaches and mountain walks were a delight to explore and unspoilt. We would recommend visiting Chania (especially the back-streets around the harbour) and walking from Milia down the mountain to Cave Sofia. The local people in Sfinari were all very welcoming and hospitable. Highly recommended!
“Luxuspool in stiller Bucht”
“great place to stay and enjoy holiday”
once again we ' ve been in villa corallium and didn't promise to return but... returned because...
“Absolutely amazing, fantastic service”
Pre holiday service from George was great. On arrival: beautiful villa, has everything you need and in excellent condition. Going out onto the pool patio and the view from all rooms was utterly breathtaking, has real 'wow' factor. On arrival we had a lovely meal waiting for us - v tasty. There was no sharp knives (only blunt cutlery knifes!) and no cushions on the sun loungers but I emailed George and these items were provided quickly. Location wise was great. Very quiet and peaceful. We walked most evenings to the three tavernas on the sea - 5 minutes away. Great food at all three. These restaurants cater for locals. Lots of nice little walks in the hills Wonderful rustic authentic atmosphere away from tourists! Beaches- the closest is fine but nothing special - all pebbles. We went mainly to Fallasani about 25 mins away - very nice big sandy beach and elefonisi which was magical but get there early as very popular even in early may. No real downsides -downstairs shower room which is tiny. Got impression would be more child friendly as mentions children's pool but not really that child friendly. Private path down to the beach from the villa mentioned on web- this is a barely used path and basically impenetrable but that doesn't matter at all. The Tarmac road is quiet and easier. Website description really doesn't do this place justice and should have pictures of every room. In summary, great place, great location and great service, lovely people and area and will definately be coming back.
