“Cozy with a capital Z”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2012

First of all, let's get this out of the way (as everything else might be in the way too), this place is not for you if you don't know the difference between small and cozy. To a pessimist this place is tiny. To an optimist this place is cozy. I have to admit that the photographs are misleading! The photos show vibrant colors with a vivid, funky flavor, but the decor has been replaced with a more subdued, adult modern feel, so precise and new that makes you feel like you are living in a furniture showroom. Either way, Inga shows great taste in decor. We're even looking to fasten a rug to the wall near our bed (a brilliant idea for we people who live in earthquake country) There were a bunch of unusual touches that I really liked: the kitchen sink was deep with an extended nozzle built into the faucet, the shower head is as big as a medium pizza, the couch bed is ingeniously simple and surprisingly comfortable, whisper quiet ceiling fan, huge bottles of shampoo and conditioner, the jungle-like foliage around the house, and the fake fireplace creates heat when you need it and ambiance (and night light) when you don't. Working wi-fi, a flatscreen TV with cable, and parking included seals the deal, especially considering parking elsewhere is either 75 minutes on the streets or until 3am on the cul-de-sac nearby. Of course, the best reason to stay here is location. The place is one small block from State Street (bars, movies, yogurt, coffee, shopping and restaurants, including favorites Bay Roadhouse and Joe's Cafe), and not too far from the beach. The only reason not to stay here is the coziness, but you can't beat the location, amenities, and price.

“Great Experience”

Reviewed 24 May 2012

Great location in Santa Barbara, beautiful little studio rental with enough space for two. It had everything we needed for a week of fun and relaxation. The kitchen is enough for simple meals, and the grill was a plus. The owners are communicative and will help with whatever you need. Not a single negative thing about our stay!

“Snug and happy”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2012

This is a dear, sweet nest, which I stayed in for two months. I love to cook, and the kitchen, while handy for a week-end's casual cooking, was smaller than for a longer stay. So, I took this as a sign to eat out in Santa Barbara's amazing restaurants! So, it was actually a real plus, for me. Laura and her husband responded to all questions that I had. It was wonderful to be able to have my car behind locked gates. The grounds are kept immaculately. There is a wonderful coffee/croissant spot within walking distance, d'Angelos. It is situated close to State St, walking distance. Another reviewer has mentioned this: This has a feel of someone's home, and you hear the requisite creaks of people walking up stairs, etc. as you park your car, you greet others having coffee on their decks. I am not a light sleeper, so, no worries! All in all, a delightful experience with people to match.

“Convenience”

Reviewed 6 Feb 2012

Inga and Laura were very hospitalble. Made sure I had was comfortable and enjoyed the city. I like old classic period homes and this was no exception. I was impressed with the degree of attention to detail in apartment decoration. The location was the best, had been looking for a location like that for a while. I guess my main purpose for being in Santa Barbara was State Street and the ocean. both nearby. I will certqinly return sometime.

“Felt right at home and walked to the beach, farmers' market, res”

Reviewed 1 Feb 2012

This luxuriously decorated, impeccably clean, and thoroughly comfortable studio was a perfect place to spend five days in Santa Barbara, my home for 30 years, until I moved away six years ago. Located one block from State Street with its convenient electric trolley service, shops, and restaurants, and just five blocks from the beach and Stearn's Wharf, this apartment is great for enjoying all that SB has to offer. Off-street parking, a very pleasant and surprisingly private porch, and bicycles are welcome amenities. Laura let me know about a city planned electrical service outage one night and offered an extra flashlight or whatever else I felt I needed. It was not an inconvenience at all since I slept through the outage! She checked the next morning to be sure that all was well. I highly recommend this studio, especially as an alternative to similarly priced hotel rooms! Great location, thoughtful service, excellent value. Five stars!
