“Pretty Suite, lovely courtyard and great location.”

Reviewed 15 Feb 2017

We enjoyed our stay very much. The courtyard is lovely and because this suite is the only one on the ground floor, no one else seems to use it. It was perfect to sit out by the pool or the seating area off the dining room. It was private enough for us but it is an open design with only one shower-not an issue for us either. Small sink and toilet room upstairs. We did feel that the price is a little high. Playa del Carmen seems to be getting more expensive. It is located on a quiet street and we found parking on the side streets and only on the first night, we had to park 6 or so blocks away(it was a Friday evening).

Response from the owner We appreciate your time to share your positive experience in our Antigua suite! The outdoor sitting areas were designed to promote a sense of privacy, each having their own perspective to enjoy from. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed you that space! The rates reflect the peak season in which you visited us. They do adjust throughout the year. Its important to us that our guests feel their experience was wonderful, but also a great value. So we'll certainly take a look at them, as we strive to price our suites conscientiously, together with providing quality accommodations. assuring great value for your experience. Thanks again for your kind review. We hope to have you back again soon.

“"Antigua Suite is an elegant dream house only a few steps away from the best spots in Playa"”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2014

A few friends and I (5 people total) stayed at the Antigua Suite in Plantation House for 5 days and absolutely loved it. First off, the property is absolutely gorgeous! There is a pool and patio area to chill with your friend and the house is beautifully designed with bright colors and crisp whites to give your stay the ultimate vacation feel. The Plantation house feels very private yet is a stone's throw away from all the action. The beach, best restaurants, and hottest clubs are all equal distances away from the house. Never more than a 5 min. walk so it's ideal. Moreover, the house was fully equipped with all the necessary gadgets including iphone speakers, TV, kitchen appliances, everything. We didn't find ourselves needing anything that wasn't already provided for us. The area is lovely to stroll through during the day with cute shops and coffee spots one after another and it is equally fun at night to hop from club to club (you can't hear any noise from the street inside the house) or to enjoy a great meal at a nice restaurant. Overall, the Antigua Suite is a gem. It's ideal for a nice relaxing beach stay with fun options to pursue at night. It is a gorgeous place to live in and it feels as though all the Playa action revolves around it. Highly recommended!

“Unique, extraordinary, location, and quiet”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2014

Best friend and I absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Antigua Suite! The building is a unique design with a lovely courtyard; nothing I'd ever seen before. Smart. Everything was "as advertised" although Internet access was spotty when working. There was almost enough kitchen equipment for us to prepare every meal there. (We got fresh fish and wanted to bake it, but oven was not working so we poached it with salsa and mayo in a skillet on the stove. Yummy!) Joe was very responsive in the pre-rental process and while we were there. In fact, we needed to speak with United because we left a phone on the plane and he ran interference for us because we don't speak Spanish. It's a beautiful and quiet place--just a few minutes to the beach, 5th Ave, or Constitution Ave. 10 minute walk to grocery store.

“Winter Vacation in antigua Suite”

Reviewed 7 Apr 2014

We went to antigua Villa in Playa del Carmen for 10 days end of February through March 2014. We have 2 young kids 5 and 6 years old. Joe had scheduled a cab for an airport pickup for us. The same company brought us back to airport at the end of our trip. It was not our first time renting a Villa in Playa Del Carmen. I could say this time we got the best location. We loved every thing about it. The villa was very clean; comfortable with mezzanine unique design with lots of windows in a kind of modern Mexican style. The kitchen is well equipped. A sweet cleaning lady was available to clean the floor and beds and refresh the toilettes and shower. The small garden was so fun. Kids could play, swim and have fun when we were preparing beach bags or taking a shower. My husband and I are both runners. It was really fun to arrive to villa after a run and jump in the swimming pool! The location of antigua Villa is just amazing. It is very close to the beach. We were going to beach barefoot. At the same time it's only few seconds away from 5th ave where you can walk, eat and enjoy the beat of the city! We really loved Joe's hospitality and the villa. We recommend Highly antigua villa. If we go back with friends we could rent multiple apartment in antigua Villa and stay together while each family has it's own privacy. We hope to go back to antigua !

“Perfect and worry free”

Reviewed 29 Mar 2012

We absolutely loved the Plantation House and the antigua suite. The soft breeze blowing through the windows of the upper level bedroom was so soothing each night. The kitchen was well equipped and the apartment was beautifully decorated. I really appreciated the prompt responses that I received to all of my questions prior to our arrival. I also appreciated the fact that they arranged our travel to and from the airport. I had the most relaxing vacation that I've had in a long time. We are excited to return to Playa and will definitely be staying at the Plantation House."

“My Favorite hotel in Playa del Carmen”

Reviewed 27 Oct 2010

If you think the pictures are impressive, don't hesitate to book. It reallly is that pretty, tasteful, spacious and luxurious! I had not visited before booking and was thrilled to walk in and discover that it was exactly as advertised. I am a part-time resident of Playa, so I've visited quite a few different hotels. This one is so charming. The inner courtyard has nice vegetation and a lovely pool with a wooden deck and flowing white curtains. Our suite, the antigua suite, had everything you could possibly need: a fully equipped kitchen with quality ware (nice wine glasses!); a spacious and comfortable living area with backgammon board, cd player, children's games and more; a private sitting area on the courtyard with a fully stocked bookcase. There was nothing missing. We only needed to stock the fridge and tear ourselves away from our little haven. It's perfectly located just a few blocks from the heart of the nightlife, one block from the beach, and steps from 5th avenue-in the heart of it all but still very peaceful. I highly recommend it. There's plenty of bustle in Playa and this is the perfect place to retreat to after a day or night on the town.

“An experience in elegance and efficiency”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2010

The owners, Joe and Francoise, have created a unique experience with their Plantation House that is in near perfect proximity to both the ocean (1.5 blocks) and 5th avenue...the avenida with everything under the sun (also 1.5 blocks). The antigua Suite combines both elegance and efficiency in an almost perfect marriage. The high ceilings and beautiful tile floors just make this a fun place to spend time. The ringer, however, are the owners. I had an almost immediate friendship with both Joe and Francoise and they treat their stayers as such. They were both very attentive to detail, from large things to the little things. It is rare to make friendships of value in as little time as 10 days. It is this aspect that makes a stay at the antigua Suite in particular, and more generally the Plantation House, a "stay of value". I eagerly look forward to my return.

“Hidden Treasure”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2010

This is truly a very hidden gem, amongst the big aI and new hotels, this spot has a charm that I have never experienced at any other property. We stayed with my Mother and aunt and they felt completely safe and were able to explore the best of Playa from this location, and never have to go far, as my mother is over 80 and my aunt younger but still not able to do long, long treks about. The apartment was great for the 4 of us, with plenty of privacy in the downstairs bedroom. We would definitely stay here again! Especially with kids or elderly parents.
