We stayed at the Casa from June 30th thru July 8th 2015. The house is located in a small, quiet neighborhood and great for those who don't like the big resort scene. Short drive to Akumal Bay and Tulum. Great beach 8 minutes drive from the house. Nice backyard to relax and read. Great place to come back to after a big day of site seeing and beaches.
Fantastic location. Right across the street from a beautiful cenote and a short walk through the jungle (there's a path) to the highway. The beach is a looong walk, in my opinion. We preferred the bay in akumal. We took colectivos everywhere (no car), and that was fine. The house, itself, was very nice. The backyard was gorgeous. A great base of operations. My only issues/cons: - Couches were not comfortable (I like to hang out on the couch & read). I could kind of tell that from the pictures, though, so I was prepared. - In the back yard, there's a very deep unfilled pool-like thing. Very pretty, but I didn't feel comfortable having my 4 year old near it, as she tends to fall into things like that. (she didn't). I would have liked for it to have had a board across it or something. - I could never pick up the owner's wifi signal (which I needed as I did had to work part of the time). A super nice neighbor came by and gave me their passcode, so I used that. It was very intermittent, and I was unable to talk to my husband via FaceTime (a big reason I needed/wanted wifi). But if you're not planning to go online... then no big deal. For me, though, it was. (I had rented a phone through the transport company, Canada Transfers, for $17... so I was able to at least talk to my husband) It was fantastic having a kitchen, and man you can't beat the price! A really cute house. Everyone in the neighborhood was really nice, and I felt very safe. Dennis was very responsive to any issues that came up. A wonderful trip!
Casa Buena Fortuna is exactly as advertised. Location of Casa perfect home base for exploring Riviera Maya. Home centrally located and setup with all modern conveniences. Hammock and palapa are great for relaxing after a long day at the beaches. Quiet area away from crowds which I truly enjoyed. Told Dennis I was there to unwind from everyday noise and he really did come through. Thank Dennis! Miss the beaches!
“Comfortable stay away from the resorts”
My husband, young daughter, parents, and myself stayed at Casa Buena Fortuna for a week in January. It is a fabulous location if you like to be away from the big resorts and crowds. The quiet neighborhood was a perfect resting spot after busy days on the beach. The location is quite convenient to great beaches and snorkeling near akumal (10 minutes), Tulum (15 minutes), and Coba (about an hour away). You will need to have a car if you stay here and plan to visit any of the beaches other than the one across the highway. Dennis and Christina were helpful with questions prior to travel and one small problem we had while we stayed and we felt very safe in the non-touristy neighborhood.
“Fantastic house, fantastic location”
the house was fantastic and the large yard was perfect for outdoor breakfasts, lunches and dinners! I would absolutely reccomend staying at this house. Dennis molnar is a fantastic host and very hospitable.
“We stayed here while visiting friends, quiet and relaxing.”
This casa had everything we needed and was clean. The owner was very accommodating. The yard is larger than most others in the area. We enjoyed coffee and juice outside in the morning, walks around the area, and relaxing in the evening. We like the location not only because we were close to our friends but it is also close to Tulum and Playa. There is a nice beach within walking distance. We will definitely stay here again!
This was such a great stay in a wonderful neighborhood. We are home owners in the neighborhood and had to get out of our house for 1 week. We decided to stay here. It had all the comforts of home. It's colors are refreshing and the yard exquisite. Its located next to a beautiful cenote, which we visited every day. I cannot find any faults with this quaint little casa.
“Very highly recommended.”
Really enjoyed our stay in this little casa. Dennis and Debbie were really helpful and friendly - they even us took us on a tour of the area on our first day so that we could get our bearings. We took daily dips in the beautiful little cenote opposite and spent plenty of time in the hammock and under the palapa, watching the birds and the resident iguana.
“Great location to explore from-”
Casa Buena Fortuna was clean and neat in a small neighborhood of several houses. It is in a great location to visit several beaches like Xcacel right across the highway, Akumal a short drive for snorkling and restaurants, and of course Tulum for the beautiful long beaches, great restaurants, banks and large grocery stores. Three Myan sites are a short dive away for a day trip. Chemuyil is a very short drive and has two good local restaurants. Dennis was very helpful with the reservations and drove us around the area pointing out beaches, good restaurants, banks and grocery stores. We ate morning breakfast in the back yard under the palapa and cooled off in the cenote right across the street. All in all a great place to stay and begin our daily adventure. It was a great "anti all inclusive" and experience the real Mexico!!
