“Blissful place”

Reviewed 30 May 2015

The place was recommended to us by a friend who had stayed here 2 years earlier. Stayed here for 3 nights. Had a lovely 2 bedroom apartment. The place is isolated, no road noise. All you hear is the wind, birds and chickens. Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, this is a blissful place. Matteo the owner is a wonderful gentleman. He provides all the local knowledge with sightseeing recommendations, restaurants, etc. Cannot wait to get back there again.

“weekend familiare secondo”

Reviewed 1 May 2014

“Great stay- we hope to return!”

We truly enjoyed our stay here. Matteo was a wonderful host and even met us outside of town to make sure that we did not get lost on the way to the agriturismo. The room was clean and very comfortable, especially important since we brought our 3 month old baby. The kitchenette was very useful and had everything we needed. This was a perfect place to stay while in town for Benvenuto Brunello because it allowed us a gorgeous drive and was away from crowds. We even enjoyed Quercecchio's wine, both Brunello and Rosso. Next time, we hope to visit around harvest time!

“Loved our stay!”

We absolutely loved our stay at Quercecchio! It was everything I hoped my Tuscan stay would be. Thank you to Matteo for all your advice and hospitality. I highly recommend staying here.

“A great place to unwind!!!”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2013

From the onset, we received a very warm reception and welcome from host Matteo. My children now call him "Uncle Matteo". This converted monastery has all the charm expected from the Tuscan countryside. Our 2 bedroom unit did not have any great view, but it was very very spacious (with added upper loft- did have a view here) and 2 bathrooms. We did see a one bedroom unit that had a beautiful view if that is important to you. There is no in-suite dishwasher or laundry, but we just hand-washed clothes we needed and hung outside on hanging rack. We felt very comfortable on the whole premises - like home away from home. Although units don't have individual balconies, there are many inviting common areas throughout the premises where one could relax, read in solitude and enjoy. After travelling through the big 3 cities of Italy- Rome, Venice and Florence, it was great to plop down here for 5 nights and slow down the pace by lounging by the large, beautiful, clean pool. Spent evenings eating alfresco by the pool and kicking around the soccer ball with our children. Definitely need a rental car to visit nearby towns and get groceries. Montalcino is about a 10 minute drive away. There is a full grocery store there. We had an excellent meal and service at Re di Macchia in Montalcino. Also recommend visiting nearby Pienza where you can see the varieties of pecorino cheese and wild boar salami (note to Canadians- you can not bring back any wild boar salami- we had 8 packages of it confiscated at Canadian customs). Visit older gentleman - Lorence in Pienza for a beautiful custom-made leather belt. (may need 2 days for production depending on season). It was my 10-year old son's first leather and it is the best souvenir we brought back from Italy. This agriturismo is very calm, relaxing and welcoming. Matteo is a wonderful host that makes everyone feel comfortable. Thank you.

“Peaceful , simple and relaxing.”

Quercecchio is situated 10km south of Montalcino, it is very rural, peaceful and quiet. Matteo is welcoming, accommodating and respectful. This is not a 5* serviced apartment, it is simple, extremely clean and very comfortable. If you are interested in wine production, Matteo gives an excellent wine tour and tasting of the Brunello produced on the property. The idea of agriturismo is that you stay on farms, they are not situated in the centre of towns, there are good local restaurants but you will need to drive, the accommodation is self-catering. Matteo is extremely helpful and kind, he can recommend great drives, restaurants and advise on the local area. We were 2 girls sharing our dream trip to Italy, Matteo was wonderful with his advise and directions. We are delighted we chose to stay at Quercecchio and will definitely return again, we would be happy to recommend it to those who are not looking for the fully serviced and 5* , but those who like us enjoyed the peaceful, beautiful country setting.

“Our first Italy trip was a unique experience”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2012

Like everyone already wrote, Quercecchio is a pearl. A dreamlocation in a beautiful landscape with a charming host. Montalcino is a very beautiful little town and the panorama is spectacular. This town was also a good base for multiple excursions . We thank Matteo for his advice. Our first Italy trip was a unique experience. Especially because we were staying in the impressive abate suite. Drinking a glass of wine in this environment was not a punishment on a rainy day. Like Matteo told us : after a dry season , the rain is necessary to get later a good glass of wine. We also had sunny afternoons in the tremendous swimming-pool. Matteo is managing Quercecchio in a very warm and natural way and this makes this earlier monastery an ideal holiday location. We were entirely retired after this holiday. There are still a lot of places in the world to discover, but if we travel again in this region, we already know our 'adress' .Eric and annemie , Belgium

“Breathtaking view and peaceful”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2012

Beautifully restored 600 year old building with amazing views from all sides on the vineyards of montalcino. The peaceful atmosphere of the old monastery is almost tangible. The swimmingpool is large and sunny and well equipped. The apartments are large, clean spotless and if something is missing that you need (like a microwave) just ask and Matteo is there to help. Matteo is a fantastic manager, good company and a really great person. ...and the wine made here is the icing on the cake.

“Nice and quiet in low season”

We had also the possibility to visite nice places close to Montalcino like Siena, Pienza and Montepulciano.
